Well, I didn't want to whine.
I'm fine with Apollo too.
BUT, IF I could choose, I would choose the cast of the first three games.
For me, it's not just about Phoenix, it's about the whole cast from back then. And after all, I prefer the old characters rather than the newer ones. They're okay also, but not as good as the old ones.
That's it.

I'd love the idea of having Phoenix back in the lead-role in GS7. You'd be playing as an older, veteran defense attorney and it would put a different twist on the game, plus they'd be bringing back a fan-favorite.

Also, I don't see why he shouldn't be a lawyer again. He went to law school and became a lawyer so he could defend the innocent. There are innocent people being accused every day; a lawyer's job is never done! I could see Phoenix stepping back into the courtroom if his services are needed. He could defend until he gets old and grizzled! XD

That would be Awesome! And then have a game devoted to cases before Pw1, (play as G. Edge, maybe?)! Heck, Capcom should make an entire seperate team for AA spinoffs (while the other one still makes the main storyline), as this is a game I would LOVE to see about a million spinoffs of! (so stop f***ing porting it to so many systems, Capcom, and make with the FanService!)

In one word - no.

In many words - This entire topic is lol except for the whole tag-in thing. Maybe around GS7, we could have a third character so instead of being PWAA or AJAA, it would be WCAA (Wright & Co. : Ace Attorney), with the last having another "power" like those exhibited.

As was so adequately explained - Phoenix is still there. Many would argue that "IT'S NOT THE SAME PHOENIX BLAH BLAH BLAH." I like 'new' Phoenix. Now, if it was Apollo who changed into Apollhobo, I would be more miffed as he is far less sarcastic and negative than Phoenix was in the first 3 games. That would be a change that would make even less sense.

As far as "NO FLAMES LOL!", it's like saying : "Here's this totally ridiculous idea, but don't even attack it, or me, for saying it because I cannot take criticism well, and have an ego that bruises easily."

My post didn't show up for some reason, so I write it again.

The thing is - I'm not whining ...
I really like Apollo, it's totally okay to have him and the new characters around, BUT IF I could choose, I would take the old cast rather than the new one.
For me, it's not just about Phoenix, it's about the whole cast and there I prefer the old one.

I thought there was just a wee bit too much Phoenix, but I'm not gonna complain, he was hawt! As was Apollo, so hey, no losses on my part!

I would have love him to appear once in a suit, though, MASON System flashback trial thing not included. Maybe at the actual trial itself to present some final piece of evidence?

Phoenix as the new mentor would be nice, if he tones down his jerkiness a bit. I mean, I'd like it if I were with him but poor Apollo shouldn't have to put up with it! XD

New Phoenix reminds me of Dumbledore. I don't know why, but he just does. >.>

I prefer old Phoenix to Polly. He just seemed... older and more independent. :/

That's because he was older and more independant. Mia popped in during almost every case Phoenix had toss in some support, but at least she didn't walk Nick through the case like Trucy and Klavier do for Apollo.

I thought they were both 23? :/

I'm all for bringing back Phoenix as the main character, but at the same time I feel that Apollo should get another game or two first.

I don't want them to have Apollo being featured in just one game, as though it was an oversight or something. And I want to see how Apollo develops as a character.

Besides, I want to see him get whipped by Franziska, and to see him put in a similar situation as Phoenix finds himself in, along the lines of 2-4.

Apollo is 22. He sure looks younger than that, though.

I agree with New Phoenix being better than his older version. He's more interesting to me, because of his less straightforward personality. Also, I found it interesting that he's less focused on defending innocents and more dedicated to refining and correcting the law itself and the legal system now.

I don't really see why you'd bring him back as a main character. Apollo is a bit different than original Phoenix: he's more emotional, more naive, and a bit less sure of himself, but otherwise is quite similar. Also, they really didn't develop him as much as Phoenix was in the first game; they spent more time on Phoenix than on Apollo. They can do a lot with what they have, and they can add more.

Personally, Phoenix is better as a support role. For some reason, I see him going two ways:

Spoiler tags for space and for possible GS4 spoilers (just in case, though it shouldn't be an issue in this forum):

Spoiler: Detective/Private Investigator
He showed in the AJ that he's good at investigating crime scenes, and that's mostly what he's been doing for the last seven years. He's good at questioning people, and has a tool that allows him to gauge his own effectiveness in questioning (Magatama). He's absolved himself of the falsification and has overhauled the legal system, so the police may accept him.

If he goes independent and becomes a private investigator, he can always partner up with Gumshoe (I heard somewhere that Gumshoe quit the force after Phoenix's disbarring - could someone clarify this?). With a name like 'Dick Gumshoe', what's he gonna be, a florist? :eh?:

Spoiler: Prosecutor
My pet desire for the games. Again, his new focus on the law itself and his recent accomplishments might prompt him to become a prosecutor, and I could see the office wanting a famous former lawyer and legal reformer on their staff. His skill and dedication to truth might also be appealing, given that the Prosecution's Office seems to have a recurring problem with sketchy characters (ending the streak, apparantly, with Klavier). I personall think this would make a lot of sense.

Also, it means we can have an Apollo vs. Phoenix case at the end of GS5, which fills me with copious amounts of Gant-happy. :gant:

Course, they could just make him a defense attorney again, or even just leave him as a piano player/card player, though I'd doubt they'd really do the latter because the plot device reasoning is gone.

I do, however, wish to see some characters from the first thee games return, particularly some of the staples. More particularly, Edgeworth, Franziska, Gumshoe, Pearl (less Maya - as Master, she's probably not going to have a huge part) and some one-shots as well. New characters are fine too, though.

Also, I demand more :uramidn: , :lana: , and :keiko:
Lana because there's a tie-in to Ema and I like it, Viola because an older version as a crime boss might be pretty cool, and Basil because I like her and that's it. :keiko:

As much As I hope this could happen, the possibility that it does is too close to 0. Zilch. Nada. :P
What Capcom could do, as fanservice, is have Phoenix take over just one case(or part of it), for example if Apollo was kidnapped, or for whatever..

Nick dosen't have to be a main character anymore, but it would be awesome if at the very least he got back his badge, then after the main plot of the next game we'd get a bonus case where we get to play as him again.

Capcom's usually good to cater to their fanbase, as proven by the Mega Man Zero series, so I wouldn't hold it past them to do something like this. :phoenix:
