As far as personality and character goes, Klavier is great, and still has alot of potential. However, as the "main" opposition and an attorney in the AA world, he is a total failure.

Well, Daryan did betray Klavier's trust...by murdering a guy during their concert. And then missing a cue. I get the feeling that Klavi and Daryan always had a pretty fierce rivalry, at any rate. XD

Also, if by boring in court you mean "doesn't challenge Apollo's case enough" then I agree. I would have liked for Klavi to be as ferocious in the court as he is on stage. Although it's hard to be a great prosecutor when you're rocking out on a regular basis; Klavi's a rock star first and a prosecutor second, IMO. Heck, he already had an album go platinum before his first case! XD

(Also, I can definitely appreciate Klavier's venom towards his brother. I would have liked to see him rip into Kristoph harder, actually; after all, Kris not only diminished Klavi's first court case, but he was originally planning to use the forged evidence in the case to exonerate Zak...against his own brother! Kristoph is stylish, but Klavier really needed to tell him to stick it where the sun don't shine)

Agreed.

I blame Klavier for not having an epic final presenting of evidence in a few cases like previous games :( Although I have faith that in the AA5 he'll be better if he's the prosecutor because hopefully there will be less ties to his brother and his first case :P

Klavier might very well be my favorite prosecutor in the series!

And if not, he's TIED (but not surpassed) with Franziska.

I agree. I thought it was a nice change to have a prosecutor who actually cared about the truth over some grudge (I particularly hate Godot for this reason as well as having a long list of grievances about him outside of that). It was fun to have the prosecutor be a good guy for once from the beginning and he has a great personality although I do hope he gets more development in the next game. He has too much potential as a character to be wasted like that. Besides, I thought Klavier did a good job as the opposition honestly and he didn't need a bunch of dirty tricks to do so.

I enjoyed him as a character! :rock'n:

I just didn't enjoy him in the courtroom as much :(

I'm just sick of prosecutors getting me out of hot water :(

I don't hate him, just less enjoyable at times although after he recovered in 4-4 he was pretty awesome. I think he'll be better next game!

I'm not a hater, just not a lover :accordion-head:

Klavier is exponentially more of a douchebag than post 1-4 Edgeworth.

(Also, Godot had the same problem with being a boring foe in court. Not gonna let him slide there.)

Like I said, having a 'nice guy' for a change was welcome. But they made him BORING and even then an asshole half the time. So with me it was all "well, he's going to be an asshole, but he's not going to even put up a good fight / make me feel like I earned it? Hell with this."

Seriously? Wow. I can't agree with that, man. Sure, Edgeworth lightens up after returning from his disappearance, but he still has a pretty stinging wit, and all his cryptic bullshit and "lawl find out what it means to defend" crap started to annoy me in 2-4 (2-4 is pure win no matter how you look at it).

Aside from when he finds out that Daryan shafted him and the time when he finds out that Kristoph shafted him, Klavi is...pretty much the most laid-back guy ever (free tickets to his concert? Nice.) I didn't get the feeling that he was a jerk (a bit cocky, but less so than he was at 17). I think he was the most fair of all the prosecutors in AA in letting Apollo present his case before he challenged it...all the other prosecutors tried to run Phoenix over and stop him from even presenting his case effectively (Manfred took this to its extreme by demanding a verdict before Phoenix could even say a word XD).

I agree that we need to see him in GS5.

He just came off as an ass to me. Entirely too full of himself. Edgeworth never gave off the whole "oh yeah I'm so damn awesome" vibe that permeated every single one of Klavier's words.

The game really dropped the ball on actually DEVELOPING him--twice, when faced with both the crimes of his coworker and friend AND his older brother. Have him be conflicted. Question if he's doing the right thing.

Not fucking TAUNT him.

Considering you think Edgeworth is a "garden variety manic-depressive who will probably end up killing himself" I wouldn't be too sure. >_>

Edgeworth is uptight about his job, about prosecution, and about finding the truth--especially in 2-4. He can be condescending there, sure, but on personal matters? Klavier's WAY more arrogant and full of himself.

Edgey had to learn to care about the truth.

Klavier pursued the truth from the start. Thus putting him on "John Michael Doar" level, thus untouchable by Edgey.

WRONG SOUND CLIP? OH MY GOSH. XD Anyway. I thought Klavier was awesome~ He's my second favorite prosecutor. [he's below Edgeworth. But Edgeworth had three games, and Klavi's only been in one. I agree we need to see more of him before we settle all this.] But it did leave a kind of empty spot in court because the prosecution wasn't trying to mow you over and stab your case dead. I think they tried to replace it by putting the police and witness's in your way, but it didn't really work as well.

But he didn't really come off as a jerk at any time, to me. Except maybe when he was being all diva-ish in the first part of 4-3. But he'd had a bad day. Yet, Capcom did kind of suck at developing him. Between the events of 4-1, 4-3, and 4-4, there should have been SOMETHING going on in his head. Really.

Anyway, to sum up, and then I'm done with this thread because lol senior capstone:

Arrogant? Full of himself? What game have you been playing? Klavier's a bit cocky, being a rock star and all, but I guarantee you that while there might be laid-back rock stars and laid-back prosecutors, there is no rock star/prosecutor more laid-back than Klavier. He's far from arrogant. The only time he gets worked up is when people stab him in the back or if it has to do with music. I would want to hang out with Klavi-- he doesn't take life or himself too seriously, but he cares about the truth and he doesn't make himself bigger than everyone else unless he's obviously being light-hearted about it.

Yeah, that's that "kidding around" thing. He does that a lot. There's a difference between friendly boasting and having a superiority complex. And frankly, every prosecutor other than Klavi (Payne, Edgeworth, Manfred, Fran, Godot) have all had that superiority. It's cool when Klavier does it because we know he isn't seriously puffing himself up to make himself look better. He's just genuinely a good guy.

Peace. :rock'n:

I noticed that he randomly changes back to saying "Apollo" or "Justice" as well, when he's saying "Herr Forehead".

Example: In 4-4, he says "Is that right, Apollo Justice?" and then a couple lines later he starts with "Herr Forehead" again.

So? :P

I would think that depending on the setting and the tone of the conversation, he would address Polly with different levels of seriousness.

I guess so... I find one thing great about him though:

He is VERY easily quotable. I mean, some characters may say something every once in a while. Every third or so sentence he says has a quotable line in it! (He's not Godot though, who CONSTANTLY brings up nice lines).

Klavier is quotable without being a walking book of rhetorical phraseology and clever metaphors.

It's always the phrase that evokes the best image and sticks in the mind the longest that makes the best impression on the judge and jury.
