Were Valant, Zak, Magnifi, and Thalassa able to use the Perceive System as well? Maybe only Thalassa because she had the bracelet... And Phoenix, he can't really use the Perceive System either, right?

Spoiler: 4-4 Spoilers
The ability to "percieve" is genetic. The bracelet actually has nothing to do with it, it's just a way to know when someone's tense.

However, Valant and Zak aren't actually related to Magnifi and Thalassa. They just took new names to be part of "Troupe Gramayre". So they're out. Thalassa can, yes, it's how Apollo and Trucy got the ability. I don't believe it's ever said either way about Magnifi, though, so I guess it depends on which side of the family Thalassa got the ability from.

Thank you so much. It was a little confusing at first...I asked my friend but she explained it too quickly. I have another question;

Like you said, the bracelet is only made for when people tense, so does that mean it practically useless? I mean, if Apollo didn't have it on, would he still be able to "perceive" in court? (I feel unintelligent :larry:)

Spoiler: 4-2, 4-4
The trait itself is a genetic one and can be used even without the bracelet. Trucy can use it without the bracelet and does when she helps Phoenix with poker (and when she first shows Apollo how to use his new skill), but the bracelet works to enhance it. In 4-2, Trucy remarks that Apollo appears to be able to spot ticks that she can't see and that is because he has the bracelet which helps him focus. So it'll happen anyway, but the bracelet tells Apollo that it is happening and helps him focus in on the tics.

And don't feel unintelligent. Everyone misses things in the games at times. Your questions are good ones. :)

I think we can assume that Magnifi was able to use the Perceive System, since he was the one that beat Zak at poker the first time. Phoenix isn't able to, but since he has the magatama (which is also a kind of "lie detector") he was also able to beat Zak.

And I think they hint near the end of the game that the bracelet itself is somewhat magical (it can change shape at will, after all), and may have other powers. I assume by the next game we'll start to see those.

Y'know, it never even occurred to me that Phoenix might've used the magatama during the poker game. Do you really think a lie would've appeared over Zak's heart over a poker game? He talks about how he needed Trucy's ability to maintain his win record, so I was under the impression that he didn't actually use the magatama for that. If I recall correctly, Phoenix didn't even actually beat Zak, but it was the way he played that impressed him so much.

(why does Phoenix even still have Maya's magatama after nine years, anyway? Shouldn't she need it more than him at this point?) :hobohodo2:

It's not really magical: it's just made of a temperature-reacting alloy, so that once you put it on, using your body temperature it automatically adapts itself to your wrist size. It's pure science, and those kinds of things have already been done before, albeit not used as strangely as this. =p

Thanks a lot! :notes: Note to self: the games do not have all the answers; the nice members at Court Records do.

If it's body temperature... how do you enlarge it to take the bracelet off? I'm pretty sure the game does refer to it having magical qualities.

No, Phoenix definately beat him. He makes a point of saying that it was only the second time he'd lost.

Easy: overheat it. Might be a bit uncomfortable and slightly painful as it starts heating, but after a while, it gets wide enough for you to take it off. ;-)

I was really hoping that Polly's bracelet would be magical, but you just can't beat science! :)
