Rodrick started to speak. "Y-you should be wary around Mr. K-kuranes. He has a personal s-stake in this. His b-brother d-died during the f-first expedition in these mountains. If h-he asks you about your t-thoughts on that expedition, d-don't say anything." Rodrick looked around cautiously. "I-i've worked with him b-before. He seems nice, b-but he's b-been through a lot." Anika listened to Rodrick, and nodded when he was finished. "I understand," she replied. "I will make sure to keep my guard up for anything suspicious that they may do, and I hope that you will, too." Then she thought, "So, this Mr. Kuranes may be going on this trip so that he can fulfill his brother's mission. We'll see, won't we?" Then she quietly waited for Kuranes to finish checking in.

Anika then heard a loud laugh, and turned around to look at the man who made the laugh. He was rather old, and he was apparently Scottish, because of his accent. "This expedition is growing stranger by the second," she thought, but dismissed it, and sat down once more, growing a bit impatient.

Othello got the sense Clawes was hiding something, but he decided not to question it.
"I'm a geologist," he replied with a slight smile. "I was told by everyone I couldn't do it, yet here I am." He chuckled. "Anyway, what do you do for a profession?" That loud, booming voice...Othello was guessing the guy was an actor. Or perhaps, with someone so big, a football player?

"Would that be all?" August Kuranes asks the Amherst Hotel's receptionist. She nods. "Great, thank you." He leaves the hotel's pen in the receptionist's desk, and walks towards the group of people waiting to check in. He focuses mostly on Rodrick, who was talking to an attractive lady.
"I'm all done, Mr. Welsh," he says. "you can- Oh, excuse me!" He stops, and turns to the blond woman. He offers her his hand as he speaks. "Kuranes. August Kuranes. Journalist, I'll be working alongside Mr. Welsh here. You are?"

She then stood up and took a glance at Rodrick's camera. "The lighting is a bit inadequate, don't you think, Mr. Welsh?" she then asked, as August came forward. She stood up at his greeting, and introduced herself. "I am Anika Nikolaievna Romanova, a Russian electrical engineer. Mr. Welsh has told me about you."

Clawes smiled gallantly. "A 12th term Chemist." He opened his mouth to say more, but nothing came out. No further question was asked, so instinctively he didn't have anything else to say. He pardoned his silence and covered his mouth with his hand. He looked to Othello, noticing he was looking towards him. He tried to tell himself,'Say somethin' ya hound!' "So... uh..." Clawes fell silent with a blank glare. His silence came from Othello... he looked too close to his Father. His glance began to twist until he looked... fearful... of the man. He began to stutter more. "Ngh... u-uh..."

Rodrick looked around the room and saw two men talking to each other. He approached them and asked, "Erm... excuse me... would it be... alright if I..um... t-took your p-picture, sirs?" He needed to get out of there. He felt like everything was beginning to stare at him... almost chanting at him. He even heard the crowd chanting it.

He jumped and ran towards the nearest bathroom. He flew in, and almost slammed the door shut, locking it behind him. He began to slide down the side of the wall, into a sitting position, trying to calm himself.

"Me? Um...I don't consider myself to be," Othello said. "I've never had to be proficient with any weapons before..." Except then,.. Othello paled as he recalled the man stabbing his father...Gutting him like a fish, then turning to the young Othello.
"If you tell anyone..." Othello reached up and touched his scar again. He had to say something to get rid of this flood of memories.
"Never could pay much attention to that kind of thing anyway." He grinned slightly.

Clawes let out a small sigh. His Dad couldn't be here... he knew it was impossible. He got up, straightened out his suit, and walked out of the bathroom. He stood out to the side, ensuring he couldn't further embarrass himself. He looked to Othello once more, and cancelled all thoughts and eased his thoughts to make himself believe that he wasn't his Father.

"Yeah..." Othello said. He was going to say more to Matthew, but then he saw someone. His eyes finally stopped darting around for a second as he stared at Clawes. He waved timidly, not knowing what to do about a man who was so scared of him.
