What's Christmas when compared to Doctor Who?

I'm really annoyed at BBC America right now. They keep cutting out scenes to make room for more commercials. And the scenes they cut are always the ones that are incredibly central to the plot later on. It's making me really mad.

What channel is it on tomorrow? BBCA isn't showing it until Saturday.

Well, in the UK, it's being shown at 6:00 PM Xmas day on BBC One. I think that BBCA is the channel that you'll see Doctor Who the quickest in the US of A.

EOT Part 1 highlights:

Spoiler:
Whoa. That was amazing, if not for some minor flaws.

The new Master is hungry. And how. He ate a whole chicken in less than a minute. He also eats people.

The cafe scene. Fantastic acting from Tennant and Cribbins. Seeing the Doctor talk about the fact that each time he regenerates, it still feels like dying, was very touching, even seeing the Doctor almost cry.

Doctor Vs Master: Round 2. Seeing the Doctor shot straight in the chest with a kamehameha and still trying to get to the Master was really exciting! And the sound of drums coming back... and even the Doctor hearing it... whoa. The only prob is that the Master's superpowers aren't really explained properly.

The Master Race- Near the end, everyone IS the Master. (Except Donna, Wilf and the Doc). Yeeeeeesh.

The Time lords are back! Epic! And they seem evil. In Part 2, I think they torture the Doc as in the next time trailer, he's seen with facial injuries, and his suit is torn in places. Nasty.

Overall, brilliant episode, and can't for New Year's day!

This special starting out pretty mediocre, in fact until the final 15 minutes it was quite boring.
but...
Spoiler:
Holy shit, The ending was sublime.

Freaking Time lords are back.

I also loved the return of Donna's granddad, always felt he'd make a great supporting character.
Didn't like the whole "Lol, I'm semi-dead, so now I'm a Dragonball Z character" that the Master pulled out of his ass.
Nonetheless, great cliffhanger, great episode

I just watched it. It was awesome.

Spoiler:
I agree with the general consensus that the Master's random superpowers were random. I got the impression that he was able to use them by burning up his life force, and that was part of why he was so hungry. I can't decide if I think that's really lame or not.

Wilf is one of my favorite characters. I love how he manages to organize all the elderly in the city to find the doctor, and then doesn't hesitate to go with him. The scene in the cafe is definitely my favorite in the episode.

I also like the two aliens, the really nervous one especially. They feel like real people (or aliens). They're not sinister or enigmatic like a lot of the aliens are.

I can't wait to see what's up with the Time Lord's coming back. I'm not convinced they're real Time Lord's at all. We shall see next week.

One of the strangest episodes ever and one that has left me with mixed feelings.

Spoiler: why
I do not like the "new" master. John Simm made an excellent Master, he was the Doctor's equal and opposite. He matched his wit, his technology and his cunning. Now they've ruined his version by turning him into a fruitloop who is no higher than an animal.

However, Time Lords returning? DO WANT. I don't know how they will overcome the "they're dead" bit, but they have before (The Master is way past his 13 lives, and he's been brought back again now, and the Daleks have been wiped out enough bloody times, so who knows). I'm really looking forward to seeing it wrapped up on New Year's Day.

Can't believe I didn't give my 2% of one euro on this yet.
Spoiler: My views
With the, what, four specials this year in which he didn't regenerate, even though the new guy was confirmed, I kinda thought this would be the same. Then I saw the trailer. Literally, I grabbed the arm of my chair ama yelled "no way."
I was really tense during dinner. Every second had to be seen. When it came on, I was a little surprised to see them rush a little into the story. Within minutes not only was The Master named, he was ressurected. Pretty quickly, with only slight problems. I'm still undecided on him. I quite liked brunette business Master, but bleach blond insane Master will do. Oh well.
Wilf and the oldies were good, but I really disliked the constant switching between serious plot and comic relief. David was, as usual, brilliant (I'm not biased at all.) The cafe scene really got to me, the acting was very real. Honestly, I was going into this knowing he was going to regenerate. So, any time he seemed to be killed, I crapped myself. Electrocuted and shot, but still kicking.
The cliffhanger... I have to say, I found a little amusing. Seeing everyone with The Master's face and laughing was pretty funny.
The Time Lords coming back will be interesting. I assume. I'm honestly not sure what to expect.

Oh well. I'll find out on Thursday.
(I must've said Honestly about 6 times.)

Spoiler:
I don't agree with you on the comic relief. I've always been of the opinion that humor makes serious things more serious, and that's what if felt like for me. All of the angst would have lost me if it weren't for the occasional funny part to round it out. The scene in the cafe particularly was much more meaningful to me because if followed Wilfs escapades to find the doctor.

I was expecting it to be silly from the start. Even the commercials cracked me up. "...everyone had BAD DREAMS." Not even nightmares. Bad dreams is just so funny when you say it so dramatically. But if you were expecting seriousness, I can see why not getting it would be annoying.

Most. Epic. Regeneration. Ever.

Spoiler: "Don't look if you've not seen the episode!"
I mean he blew up the TARDIS!!! Poor Tennant. But how did manage to supress his regeneration for so long? Again, that's probably why it ended looking like Kristoph's breakdown times a thousand. Along with his frustration.

I won't give much of the episode away. But you'll be suprised when the thing who knocks four times does so. Beginnings a little boring, but it soon picks up.

Hate the new doctor already, looks too modern and studenty (and GOD I hate students).

Though I question why the endless cameos of EVERYONE were necessary I mean it's not like there's not gonna be another series my friend the serious Dr Who fan was getting irritated.

Oh and it's a pretty poor move to regenerate inside the Tardis he should know the destructive capabilities. :yuusaku:

I'm sorry, but I can't let this reply go without replying to it, if only to explain somethings from a fan's perspective.

1) Um, you've only seen the 11th Doctor for about 1 minute. Give him a chance! Most Doctors act slightly brain damaged just after regeneration. The 6th Doctor tried to KILL his companion after his birth. Also, the 11th Doc may not be the best-looking, but it's about what's INSIDE! He's still the same man as the Tenth, it's just a different face! (And the actor is 27 years old!)

2)The 10th Doctor was just saying goodbye to everyone who was special to him in that body, by helping them in some way. He may not intend to revisit them after his regeneration, Rose and the Nobles especially.

3) The Doctor has regenerated a total of 6 times in the Tardis. (Including the 10th's fake one) This one was different since,

Spoiler:
A) He had absorbed a massive amount of nuclear radiation (explaining why he had a pre-glow before the fire-storm regeneration), so along with the regeneration energy, that was blasted out of him too. Therefore he was basically nuking the Tardis.

B) He was furious. He didn't want to change, yet he was forced to so, ergo, he went overkill. Like he wanted to go out with a bang.

There you are, just a few theories. :edgy:

*Ish not a fan and barely cares about fan-rants.

1)No I will not give him a chance, that's the beauty of prejudice.
2)Rose had been around since the first 'new' doctor he said goodbye then and he revisited the old man even though he was the last person he seen before leaving. This didn't really bother me but the actual fan my friend was wanted them to hurry on the regeneration.
3)Dunno about that last theory, he's a Time Lord not a saiyan, don't think he can admit scenery-destroying aura's out of anger and it's not the massive explosion that bothered me, more his decision to do it in the Tardis considering destructive effects.

Though I do have a question....I heard the doctor has a limited number of regenerations? How many has he got left if so?

So that means the BBC can really milk this for only two more seasons really at the rate its going.

David Tennant lasted about three seasons and 5 specials. I don't see why the other two can't.

They made one for the Master in the 80's. He managed to take over someone else's body, when he was on his last legs, and then in a later story, the Time Lords offered him a new set of regenerations if he helped the find the Doctor.
