The problem I had with SL-9 was that they seemed to have an army of detectives on the case, and yet they couldn't find a lick of evidence. Supposedly the killings were spur of the moment; was Darke THAT good of a criminal that he didn't leave anything behind? And if it was such a problem why not just hand the case over to Karma and let him forge everything, since that's what he'd been doing for 40 years?

Honestly, at one point I started to wonder if someone else was the killer, or if the victims even existed at all. They just don't expand on the lack of evidence thing.

I kind of contended with them even calling Darke a serial killer. The way the crimes are described don't read like a traditional serial killer. It all kind of seemed like a spur of the moment thing caused by Darke's panic. You'd think there would have been some evidence.

From what I understand about the definition of a serial killer:
They have to kill 3 people
They have to have a "cooling off period"
They have to have had a motivation for going after victims (sexual, ect)
They have to have a specific target (kids, witnesses to an accidental car accident specific nationalities, ect)

I think there has to be more to it. There has to be some kind of methodology to the act, premeditation. He didn't seek out the first victim and kill them, it was an accident. Then he freaked out and killed the others. Seems more like a spree killer to me.

Serial killer definitions aside...

This was pretty much one of the best things ever. Two cases solved in one trial. Two incredibly confusing and impossible-seeming cases. Two murders solved with one killer caught. Two perfect murders from two ridiculous motives. And one man in it. One man whose craftiness and whose arguments match Godot himself.

Gant is my favorite non-main character, and he would probably be at the top if he had more time to make his case no pun intended... He was as crazy as von Karma and as disastrous as Dahlia Hawthorne. But he made it work in one amazingly designed character with some of the best animations in the game.

This case even had an incredible subplot. Edgeworth shows his true colors, and helps take down the ultimate enemy, no matter what it costs him.

The only case that even comes close to matching this is 3-5, which is rivaling this for my favorite.
