There is no way that I could handle the whole 'stand under a freezing waterfall' thing. But otherwise, I'd like to become a spirit medium too. Though I don't think my parents would support me in that either.

I honestly DON'T see why so many people that play this game want to become lawyers. Oh sure, we all love playing as a cool lawyer who always has all the evidence he needs and always ends up winning, but will that happen to you always when you become a lawyer? Probably not. Also, imagine all the stress you'd have to go through. Definitely not my kind of job, even being a big fan of this series.

To each his/her own opinion. I'm just saying that anybody who has only played the games and has no other experience in Law shouldn't instantly assume that being a lawyer is all exciting.

I agree with this. Some people I know actually believe that being a lawyer is like what Phoenix and Co. do, and are completely ignorant of everything else in the world of law.

The reason I want to be a lawyer is because it's an occupation that fits my personality, its something I'm interested in and my parents still think that me wanting to be a palaeontologist is still a phase.

I think being a Lawyer is generally pretty boring. Have you ever noticed how many lawyers there are? And how few are even well-known because they handle big cases? I don't even know what kind of things they really have to do. I don't want to be a lawyer anywayz, I might want to be a translator sometime later when my Japanese is near-native. *fuuuuuuuture*

On topic now, I've explained my mum - in short - what the game is about. So when I say 'objection' she kinda knows where it comes from. I think she would even like the game, but she's never going to play it. For various reasons, one being that she wouldn't know how to turn on a nintendo ds. And my sister doesn't like thinking much, so she gave up fast. My bf is doing great though, and he's steadily becoming a fan. Yay!

1) Well, the first concern would be my studies. Video games and computers would always be blamed; but really, they don't have anything to do with my grades! Honest!
2) Whenever I talk about AA, I'd be asked why the heck I just didn't become a lawyer since I'd supposedly make a good one.
3) My grandma tells me to leave the room whenever I cry "Objection!", whether I'm playing or not. So I yell it in five other languages since she can't understand (and since they do work on the DS.)

Today I told my dad about this post and made him play the first case (he played it in Spanish because he's not that good at English)
He really liked it and was very sharp! He solved all the contradictions like that!
XD the first time he had to object I held Y and told him "Say "PROTESTO"
"What do you mean?" He said
"Just say it"
"PROTESTO" *Phoenix yells "Protesto in the game"
he was like "WTF This thing is awesome"

My mum's eyes aren't that good, so I read the dialogue to her. She loves it. The first case I read to her was 3-4, and now we're in the middle of 3-2.

Spoiler: 3-4
Also, she shocked me by guessing Melissa and Dahlia were the same person, because she had no idea who Dahlia was before Terry spoke of her.

I was reading the dialogue aloud while playing when my parents got curious and my mom thought about calling my cousins over to do a role play where we would play the game at the same time and one would read Phoenix, the other Edgeworth and so. When I asked my mom why, my father said that they saw my cousins playing JFA when they went to their house. We did 2-4 and I did Edgeworth.

I gotta admit, we look dumb, lying in the bed and the sofa while holding each of our own DS and playing the same case simultaneously

I don't think he cared xD.

That is SO something that would happen to me. :keiko:

Except I've learned that even if what I'm looking at is bad (even though usually I'm not), not to close the window. I scroll down or change tabs. It's much less suspicious.

That happens to me all the time too. I usually just scroll down, change tabs, or go to my homepage (google) and pretend to look up something. Then of course sometimes I'm not paying attention and my parents come in before I can change the screen, and then they start staring at whatever I'm looking at (Be nice if they could at least make it less obvious! Me and my stupid paranoia issues...). Last time that happened to me my dad came in and saw me on this site and he said "Oh that's for that...um Phoenix Wright was it?"
Then some other time I tried to explain 2-4 to him for some reason. I don't think he was able to follow it though...
Meh. Maybe some day my dad will play this game (At least he supports me playing the games though)

At my school presentation night looking at all the wonderful artworks done by other students:

mum: why isnt your work here?
me: becuase my work is complete crap
dad: yeah but if you ask her to draw anything from Phoenix Wright, it come out beautiful! (which it doesnt BTW)
art teacher: *gives me a questioning look*

That was pretty much the first time I realised that I talked about it so much that even my dad remembered the name of the game. He also says stuff like "If you asked her to write an essay on Phoenix Wright she would get top marks!"

My mom don't really care what video games I play, as long as I like it. She's starting to have porblems when I want to cosplay . I remember that "WTF" look she had on her face when I showed her the picture of Maya and I said I'm going to cosplay her. "Where do you bring these characters from?!"
Which was kinda weird- She didn't complain at all when I cosplayed Sora... Oo

Both of my parents love the Ace Attorney series and it's characters. :gant:
Ever since it came out for the Wii, we've been buying and playing the games together. It's a lot of fun.
After we bought and I beat AAI, my mother started playing it. She enjoys it a lot.
My mom and dad like to imitate some of the character's "objections" and their movements. It's hilarious.
It usually turns out with something like this:

Dad: *in deep, scary, Von Karma voice* Objection! *does Manfried Von Karma finger wag and tisk*

Me: Oh wow dad...seriously...

Later, my father saw me playing the same part and he said "Hey, this one look like your godfather" :flowsers:

And one of my friend once asked "Who's the pimp?" when talking about Redd White. :redd:

My mother does NOT get it. I've offered to let her borrow the games, she's not interested. And so far she's seen me do up three cosplays, and buy stuff for more, and she thinks it's vaguely disturbing and quite odd.

She does know about the fanfiction, though, and thanks to her overhearing some conversations, she knows about slash. Thankfully her internet use is limited to email because there is no way on EARTH I could adequately explain the fandom to her if she found it.

The real surprise is my partner: I got him into playing the games after he'd seen me obsessing for several months, he's currently at the end of T&T and knows a lot about the fandom. It amused me that whilst playing the first one, he went, "I can see why all you people write Phoenix/Miles." I think he's got a bit of a crush on Mia. :edgy:

My kids know about it, but they're too young for it (there's too much reading and the logic puzzles are a bit beyond them). My eight year old saw my phone and announced rather matter-of-factly that "You have Phoenix Wright on your phone and they're kissing." :) My younger son, who's four, has asked if he can play it and I've told him when he's a bit older.

My sister thinks I'm a pervert and a weirdo and that anything Japanese is kinky and bizarre and creepy, so it's no surprise that she's quite blunt about not being interested.

Once i let her do one qustion.(Who was the killer?(Case2-3)

She picked EVERY character before Luke. But i think she did that on purpose. My bro loves Ace Attorney! He likes Kristoph. And even my grandad likes Gant!

I tried to get my mom to play the first game... it was a total failure. She only made it through the first two cases of the first game. Quotes from her include:

"Who's Harry Butz?"
"Why does this game scream at me every time I choose objection?"
"I did press every statement."
"Who's Larry Butz?"
"How can these girls [Maya and Mia] be related? They have different hair colors!"
"What do you mean Mia's dead? Main characters can't die!"
"Is this Redd White guy foreign? He can't speak english!"
"So wait, who's Nick?"
"What? THE GAME JUST BEAT ITSELF! IT CAN'T DO THAT! MIA CAN'T DO THAT! THAT MAKES ALL MY WORK POINTLESS! WHY DOES SHE HAVE THE FINAL PIECE OF EVIDENCE? GAMES CAN'T BEAT THEMSELVES! THIS WHOLE SERIES IS RIDICULOUS!"
"You know, you really should intern at a law firm this summer."

(This is my first ever post, so sorry if it turns out looking weird or something.)

My mom loves the PW series. She even calls all the characters by their first names, despite the fact that no one in the games do. Like I was telling her about the last case of T&T and how we get to see Edgeworth again and her exact quote was, "Oh, you mean Miles?" ...To which I replied, "Mom, why do you call him that? Not even Phoenix calls him that! And they're best friends!"

And my best friend...well, I told her about Phoenix and the first thing that came out of her mouth was, "Who the heck names their kid Phoenix?!"
