Hello all!

I don't know if you still remember me,It has been a long time since I last visited this place!

Anyways, that's not what I was going to tell you.

Next thursday I'm attending as a press member ( I work at a spanish game website called Modo7) to a event called Ideame, a spanish young videogame developer convention. One of the guests is Shu Takumi, creator of the Ace Attorney series ( and worked on Dino Crisis 1 and 2 and of course in the upcoming Ghost Trick).

I thought it wuld be a good idea to ask you, other fans, what would you ask to him, and when I Interview him next Thursday, ask your questions too.

So what would you like to say to him? Let give the fanbase a voice!

Oh, this is where people complain about fans 'ruining' things...

Right, all these would have to be rephrased to not get the usual type of non-answer they feel they can give out.

Will Phoenix ever get to be a lawyer again? Will we see Phoenix again in a future game?
Will we ever see Maya and Edgeworth again in future Ace Attorney games?
What exactly WAS the 'Mason System' in Apollo Justice?

Nice of you to take questions :sparkly-maggey:

Imma gonna avoid saying anything AA related, so my question is...

Why did you go into the video-game business?

GS5: where is it? >.>

If you asked for an update on the GS5, I think everyone here would be thrilled to get some more information :) I'm not sure if he'd be able to say much, but it couldn't hurt to ask.

What's his favorite case from the Ace Attorney series?
(Will edit in if I think of other better questions)

Guys, keep in mind that Takumi has already said he's not working on the Ace Attorney series anymore. Any questions about GS5 are likely going to be left unanswered.

A better questions might be, are there connections between GS and Ghost Trick?

My biggest question about the GS series is why they decided to drop Phoenix as the main character? He's become a pretty popular character icon for Capcom, so I guess I'm just curious as to why they decided to go with Apollo. I would think its a big gamble to change main characters to a series that has become so popular.

Other than that, I think a few general questions I'd ask would be;

"Of the games you've worked on, what one do you take the most pride in?"

"Have you had any inspirations that helped you in your career?"

"What are you plans for future projects?"

Sorry to go off-topic, but is there a link to the interview or whatever where he said this? >_>

Is this confirmed though? There was that recent interview where he speculated on making a 3DS AA game. Not saying he would, but not shutting down the idea of ever making one again....

What I would like to know is how they write a case, where do they start? I always think to myself how difficult it must be to plan it all out with all the testimonies and how things are revealed during the course of the case, do they write it in reverse?

His favourite and least favourite cases would be interesting to hear too.

My apologies if these questions has already been asked in a previous interview with him.

thanks guys for your help!

I'll try to ask him all those things, especially the ghost trick and AA series connection, as it seems like it's some sort of "sister series" to the AA series ( it has already been seen cameos of missile and others AA characthers in the Ghost trick teaser trailer), and about the future of AA series, why they replaced Nick with Apollo and those great questions. Thanks!

He is giving a talk called "Objection! from ruthless attorney to ghost detective", so it will probably talk about the connection between the two games. I'll try to record it all in video for you, but it will probably be in spanish.

I know Takumi's hinted once or twice that he's no longer on Ace Attorney, but the only quote I can find ATM is from a Famitsu interview sometime back:
(When asked about where the GS series is going): I can't really say anything about it. For me, there might be the development of the Ghost Trick series, or maybe I'll making something new. Even when we made Gyakuten Saiban, we didn't think it would become a series, so what will happen is up to the people playing our games.
Ghost Trick or something new = Not GS.

In any case, every time an interviewer asks about GS5, the response is always "Can't say" so why keep asking? They're not going to give up any info until it's announced to at least be in development.

Because those questions make them assume there's demand for it....

Asking about of/how the GS and Ghost Trick might ever cross over (like if there's a Ghost Trick 2) is a good idea.... phrased as questions which won't just get the stock response 'play Ghost Trick and find out'.

They asked this in an interview once. It may have been with some other GS staff than Takumi though.

Yeah, I think they asked that in the interview with Eshiro.

He said something along the lines of, we start with what seems like the most shocking thing (dead body in an elevator) and work from there.

It might be different with Takumi, so it's still a good question.

Well, I came back.

I was with Takumi this morning, he is an awesome guy! Very kind and talkative.

I asked him for why they did change Phoenix for Apollo in AA4, and told me that it was beacuse he felt like Nick's story was finished with AA3, and thought that there was nothing more to tell about him, so a new main characther was in order.

I also asked him for any news on GS5, and he told me that he cant confirm nor deny that the game is in the works. He said that we will see it eventually.
He also told me that he is not working on GS anymore.
AAI its not his.

I also asked about Ghost trick connection with AA, and told me that " it was too much to tell, better ask next year when the game is out"

Also, the most interesting thing, for my thought, is that he told me that PW1 was completely redone from scrath before launching it in game boy advance, that the concept they made when developing it at first didn't work at all, and they needed to remake it from scratch. He said that it was made like a TV series or a movie, with all the data about the cases being told to the player at the same time, but it didn't work beacuse it made it too hard and players didn't grasp the details well, so he had to rework it to make the narration pace much slower, hinting players were to press or look for clues, making it simplier.

I recorded all of this in video( but only in japanese and spanish, I'll upload it soon ( I'm not at home untill 27th of July, and I cant manipulate videos untill then).

I also recorded a quite long Ghost Trick gameplay video ( I played th game, it's awesome! For all non english speakers there, the game comes translated into french, italian, spanish, german and english in the european version. I recorded the video in plying in english, thinking of you), and made some photos with him. And he did sign me an autograph and draw a little phoenix to me!

Tomorrow he will make his conference about ace attorney and ghost trick, so I'll probably get more tim to ask him things. I'll tell you tomorrow!

hum...I don't think it's the same event, there ws no one from gonintendo there, and he didin't say that the ace attorney series was finished with apollo, but that he thought phoenix's story was over and a new story was needed, and that beacuse new people were introdued to the developer team with AA4,it was a good idea to make a new "story arc" to differenciate the old team's work with the new one.

He said that the inspiration for the series was, in fact, mistery games and detective visual novels.

He also told that he was Naruhodou voice, and did an impression of him there!

Also talked about his work in Dino Crisis, and his involvement in Resident Evil 1.5

And joked a lot about the fact that the word that means Attorney in spanish, Abogado, means avocado in Japanese. He joked saying that he made a game about courts and avocados.

I'll upload the videos of the entire conference as soon as I come back home (about 27th or 28th of july) , and look, here is a photo of me and my boyfriend with him!

Well the GoNintendo article links to another site, in Spanish, which I assume is their 'source' for the info rather than directly. What that says I don't know as I can't read it.
