Spoiler:
Well, it took a few minutes, but I finally found that pesky gum.
I do think you should alter the BG to make the gum splodges visible, or perhaps the area of snow you need to examine to find it larger/more noticable...

Y'know there is something else I noticed, but forgot to mention.
When on the second Trial day, the Health bar stays the same as when you were playing the first Trial day.
I did make a mistake on the first trial, but my penalty's carried over to the second trial. :yogi:
Weird.

I'm probably being incredibly, incredibly thick here, but
Spoiler:
I can't find the contradiction in Jake's first testimony.
The statement that leaps out at me is "the only hombres at the boneyard were the victim and the defendant."
That IS the statement where the contradiction lies, right?

Congratulations, Ping'. Being as busy as I am, I didn't have time to play the full thing, but whenever I didn't have internet access, I played your game bit by bit and got decently far. It's quite the marvelous piece of writing and I absolutely loved it.

Thanks for your hard work.

Just finished the game here. I really loved it.

Spoiler: BIG SPOILERS
I'm just wondering about Rhea's breakdown (Really never saw her coming as the serial killer, not even after when she mentioned the gum. Luckily, curiosity got better of me and wanted to see if accusing Rhea would produce any unique reactions. Regardless, I'm pretty sure my reaction to the revelation was much more amusing than Rhea's.) Was that whole scene about digging her own grave symbolic? Was she imagining it or did she literally dig the floor in the court room (I noticed that once the scene changes back to the court, you can see her by herself in the court room with dirt all around her.)

I would rate this game to be pretty difficult. There were good numbers of instances where I had to take big blind guesses.

Spoiler: MOAR SPOILERS
Not to mention that finding those chewing gum took forever.

Spoiler: MOAR MOAR SPOILERS
The plot and its development was great. Plenty of twisted that I really didn't see coming. I encountered LOTS of glitches, though they weren't game-breaking. At times no character would be shown on the screen while a line was being played. I also got lots of errors that said something like, "No emotion available during line...". Still, it didn't really ruin the level of enjoyment I got from the game. On the contrary, I was quite disappointed not to see many characters from the series to make appearances, but that really boils down to personal preference. I was sad to see Udgey die (and anyone notice one of the victims was Benjamin Woodman?). The cast of new original characters, however, was good considering this is a fangame. I gotta admit, Rhea's breakdowns were creepy enough to send chills running through my back. I was kind of liking to have the relationship between Rhea and Apollo develop... until I learned who the real killer was (I was like, WTF? On top of that, I happened to accuse Rhea by chance.) I've read from others that the ending was really creepy, so I was anticipating it. Sadly, the music ruined the scary mood (I didn't like the music choices, so I replaced them with songs from AAI myself. I really hated the epilogue song [NOT really aware of the atmosphere it was trying to create], so I replaced it with one that plays whenever Larry appears out of nowhere in AAI.). Turns out the ending scene for me was very humorous. But nevertheless, the image was haunting, really different from Rhea I've grown used to. I wish to see more games like this in the future.

Okay, I have got to say, this game was awesome! Whoever it was that said it was a triumph was freaking dead right! The plot is of a quality easily on par with most AA cases (heck, I would say its only real competition is Rise from the Ashes). Sure there were nitpicky things like bugs and a small amount of typos, but for me that really didn't detract from the experience at all. I LOVED IT.

Spoiler: BIG SPOILERS
The thing that really got me was at the end with the pics of Rhea in the cell. And the picture on the wall. I ship one sided Rhea/Apollo now! Just the way she said that she would be ready for death when she was caught, so when I saw the first pic of her I thought the next would be of her trying to commit suicide or something. But then when I saw the (fake?) pic of her and apollo on the wall, I suddenly thought about what Apollo had said earlier about how, "other people give our lives meaning", or something along those lines. The meaning to her life is Apollo now, although she probably just wants to kill him.

It just seemed to fit with everything else so... perfectly.

Sorry if that sounded confusing. I guess it was more of a rant, lol.

All in all, this game is now CANON in my mind.

CAN SOMEONE TELL ME HOW TO GET THE FULL VERSION?

Finished demo on version 0.974.

I really want to play the full version. Because the demo ended so abruptly.

"Our questions must wait until the next day...for the trial."

*freaks out*

Me: ITS FINISHED!? WHAAAT?! NOOOO.

I downloaded version 0.976. How to get full version of Turnabout Substitution? Is it already there upon download of 0.976?

Oh and one more thing. When i go to the "DOWNLOAD GAMES" tab, Turnabout Substitution isnt there anymore. WHAT DO I DOOO.

Spoiler:
The coding of that testimony is kind of a mess... I'm pretty sure it doesn't need 8 scripts.

papermario13689 > Thanks, hope you can play the full thing someday :p Looking forward to the RotP demo.

Hybori, momento, camo1018 > Thanks!

momento > I'm incredibly flattered you compared the plot to Rise from the Ashes - I was aiming at that level of convolutedness =)
Also,
Spoiler: ending
that ending was added at the very last minute. It's good to know it got such great reaction from everyone. It's creepy as hell, and it makes you see the character somewhat differently - I agree with your interpretation of the picture.

Everyone >

We're going to need some beta testers who can come up with a detailed bug list ("there were some bugs" is impossible to fix, besides it's not the player's job to say anything more than that, he needs to enjoy the game first and foremost). Percei's already doing some of that, so you can think him for it :)
The first thing I want is that "aside from some glitches" mention to disappear for good. It may take time, given the length of the game, but it's getting done little by little.

Spoiler: verdict
That was bloody brilliant.
That last fifteen minutes or so of the trial got my heart pounding. Much like Rise from the Ashes and Farewell, My Turnabout did previously. It was damn intense/dramatic. I applaud everyone who worked on the project simply for that.
Rhea being the murderer was... one hell of a plot-twist. Really. I mean damn, that build up to that was brilliant, and when she was being all cold and evil in the lobby, I thought "holy fuck what happened to the sweet, kind Rhea? ;_;". Kudos for that, too.
Actually, I'll just say the whole thing - little glitches aside, and a couple of inconsistances - deserves praise. Well, that and a slightly... "off" start, where Apollo just seemed spiteful, even during parts of the first investigation when he was sober.
I'll definately be including this game into my yearly Ace Attorney marathon, that's for sure. Hell, in my eyes, it's canon. Well, as long as directly after the events of the case, Trucy magics Judge back to life and they all go for tea and cake! =D

I like how everyone is saying that they consider the game canon...

I told you all it presents such a nice ending to Ace Attorney!

Spoiler:
I mean, Polly and Trucy find out about themselves and Thalassa, and the story shifts completely away from Phoenix and we get to see that Polly can stand on his own two feet without Phoenix or Trucy. If (god forbid) we don't get GS5, TS is a satisfactory conclusion to the series xD

Here is a question, so i'll put in spoiler tags:

Spoiler:
When you're in the second crime scene, you can only examine since there's no one there to talk or present to. What do i examine? i already examined each part of the car, the steering wheel, presented the memo to ema and examined the tracks. And what other things do i have to do before a scene triggers there?

EDIT: Nevermind, i did it, but...............................NO WAY!! JUST, NO WAYYY!!!!! YOU CAN'T SERIOUSLY KEEP ME HANGING RIGHT IN THE MOST EXCITING PART!!!!!!!

But...seriously.....now the suspense will haunt me until you release the next demo. Great work....an amazing turn of events....you sure know how to keep people in suspense like this....i never thought about Erlenmeyer's......................... :shoe:

Did the bottom screen turn black? That was a problem I had when beta-testing... If you click the testimony you can advance the text, and z and x still work. It's an annoying bug, but manageable (if it's the same one)

To fix Jake marshall black bottom screen:

Open Turnabout Substitution/Turnabout Substitution/scene84testimony1.script.txt and change these two things:

* delete the line: set _cr_button false
(I think this may have been a workaround for a bug that no longer exists. _cr_button is only meant for exceptional cases where you have normal dialog but don't want the court record to be accessible) But there was also a bug in my code where that setting turned the continue button off.

Spoiler: some dialog
* a few lines above that right after label comments, change "{sfx/Key.ogg}{f]Don't you find it strange that{n}the scientist-wannabe isn't{n}here?{p30} Something's off..." to "{sfx/Key.ogg}{f}Don't you find it strange that{n}the scientist-wannabe isn't{n}here?{p30} Something's off..."
(notice the {f] typo is changed to {f})

Did the bottom screen turn black? That was a problem I had when beta-testing... If you click the testimony you can advance the text, and z and x still work. It's an annoying bug, but manageable (if it's the same one)

That is exactly what happened. Yeah, I beat the game so it wasn't game breaking but just a bit annoying.

I shouldn't be doing this but...

I'M STUCK!
Spoiler:
...at Rhea's testimony. I've already pointed out that Erlenmeyer's fingerprints wouldn't be on the steering wheel if he was wearing gloves, and that Rhea couldn't be hiding behind a tombstone based on where the gum was found, but i can't find anything else to point out! I'm obviously missing something, but could you please help me?

Serve the Story - that's one of my rules.

That wasn't an objection, honest! I was just pointing someone to the bus stop!

Spoiler: The Testimony
You need to point out three contradictions to move on. The last one is to present the Judge's car on the Erlenmeyer car trunk part.
