Mmm.... Throwing in my speculative 2¢ in. And, stating that these are my thoughts and not representative of any persons or parties, I think the coverup is about as strong as a house made of paper in earthquake territory on a windy day. The original tweet mentioned Shuu and Gyakuten, that's quite the pair that has an explicit connection. Thus it's unlikely in my mind that the message was a mistake. Or rather, the information behind the tweet was not a mistake.

Now, again that is conjecture. What happened after the tweet, true or not, I believe it would've played out the same way. If the tweet was true, then the brass would go around trying to cover up the leak. If the tweet was false, then they'd try to clean up the miss understanding. In either case, we're in the same spot regardless.

Now, 'if' the tweet is true. And that's 'if'. Don't expect screen shots, news, interviews or anything to come out anytime soon. Capcom waited until Ghost Trick had almost hit the west before announcing AAI. Capcom knows not to cannibalize themselves, particularly with a fickle market like adventure games. Wait until 2012 or late 2011 for more details.

Hmmmmmm

Well, it does seem strange that he mentioned "Takumi-san" in his post if it had nothing to do with anyone named Takumi. And there's still that mystery project Level-5 and Capcom are working on together.

Still, I'm not getting my hopes up. If/when they officially announce it in 2012 or late 2011 or whatever then sure, but otherwise I already have GK2 <3

(Also, it said that they hoped to get a booth for the L5/Capcom thing at E3, so I guess we'll see there?)

I almost choked on my spit.
I'd been hoping for some more positive news.

I think Wooster is right, though.
Leaks this early and this close to AAI2 didn't seem quite right.
I don't think the tweet was false. It doesn't make any sense for it to be. What it sounded like was a slip of the tongue.

1) Capcom and Level-5 are working on something "big".
2) A Level-5 employee mentions Takumi and Gyakuten, a Capcom series.
3) ???
4) The employee denies everything with the silliest of excuses.

There are so many things that "3" could be, but I'm going with "Both Level-5 and Capcom tell that employee to shut the fuck up or he's out".

So, until Level-5 and Capcom announce what this "big" collaboration is, I'm keeping my hopes mid-high up.

They probably just messed up, and gave out information they weren't supposed to. That, or they pulled a Dragon Ball AF, pranked all of us, turned out it was never true, but could be written, drawn out, and stored away in some shelf somewhere for over 9 years.

So are you saying that you think it wasn't a joke, but that he let it spill too early and got in trouble?

That would be great but still, if it's a joke, it's hilariously cruel XD

Same here. Thinking '3' was probably a "Oh crap, wasn't supposed to tell anyone that yet. Better cover it up" sort of moment. I probably forget for a little while, and continue in with the GK2 speculation

I would die happy if I had GS5 in my DS game cartridge, and played it for even 1 second. But no, they messed up, and now will deny rumors for the next 2 or 3 years, like the trolls they probably are. *Weeps*

Wonder what the "big" thing is if not GS5? Level-5 didnt work on Gyakuten Saiban/Kenji....
Hang on...
Level-5 might have worked on the Prof Layton animes - what if the "big" thing is a PW/AJ anime?
That or GS5.

D...ditto to that. :sparkly-maggey:

I'm officially on board the ship of wonderful optimism that believes this was a very revealing slip of the tongue.

But if this big secret was GS5, I don't see any reason for saying "Gyakuten ○○." The "Gyakuten" part gives it away, so there would be no reason to hide the "Saiban" part if it really was "Gyakuten Saiban."
Instead, something totally different but still related to the Gyakuten franchise would make more sense.

A new (NOT Saiban / NOT Kenji) spinoff would fit the bill...
...but so would a totally new project like an anime.

Omigosh... I can just imagine it... animation... and voice acting... for Phoenix Wright...
That would be... just... a dream come true.
I must refrain from calling it a miracle, you know, just in case... :adrian-crunch:

Yeah but there was hella lot of speculation that he would take fans advice and continue with the series. He could just be keeping it a secret for now.
I don't care who makes it, just as long as it's a canon, coherent, intresting and gripping story, equal if not better to the rest of the series.

Dear De Matador,

Please stop getting people excited for no reason. Part of your job as a moderator is to ensure your actions don't cause members of the fragile nature to have heart attacks. Or breaks.

The other part is, as a (albeit dubious) voice of authority here on the forums, not to provide information under the unconvincing guise of 'fact' until it has been verified. I know, I'm getting deja vu here too. I thought y'all would have learned from the previous debate.

Once again, all you have achieved is to hype up a frenzy of prepubescent fans, yourself included, into believing there will definitely be another main series Ace Attorney game, and once again you have brought disappointment amongst those fans.

Please make sure in future that any speculation and baseless conjecture as marked and regarded as such so as not to harm any more young fans who respect your status and rightfully expect you to provide accurate information.

Finally, I find it highly inappropriate bearing in mind the young nature of your audience to use curse words on the front page of the largest Ace Attorney fan-site for westerners. Please control your potty mouth when publishing to the main site, if only to maintain whatever little credibility Court Records has left after this debacle.

Yours,

Another disappointed fan.

Is that a flame war I smell there? :nick-sweat:

Anyway, in my opinion, a little hype is always nice. It's just the daily dose of adrenalin my Otaku-heart needs. I'm the girl who was behaving like she was on LSD for 5 days straight when the Plot of Zelda:Spirit Tracks (I'm also pretty active in that fandom) was announced and very much to her liking.

And if the hype turns out to have been for nothing, well, sucks. :lana:

What would you do DM? You'd be free to trap your members into your roller-coaster of lies without me here, that's what.

I think your new edit sets an equally bad example, causing young readers worldwide to not wash their belly buttons. Hyping up fluff is dangerous business, and I'd hate to see you responsible for a worldwide epidemic of fungal infections around the naval area.

P.S. I've got my own pair of awkward clogs.

I didn't. Prepubescent means before puberty, aka young. That is true of a large portion of this forum, and those are the people who will be more easily fooled by this charade. It's no insult, it's just a long word that accurately describes the forum's demographic. I'm sorry if that concept scares you.

If you're older than that and fell for this, then I think the insults write themselves.

LOL.

Wow! So naturally, you've looked up all the ages of everyone at this forum and interviewed all the users, including the ones who haven't posted in this thread but might have been fooled, and asked them if they were prepubescent and also fooled by this news? You must have a lot of time on your hands!

Really? The last time I looked, a HUGE portion of this forum was composed of people between 15 and 20 years of age. (Including me, who is 18.) Especially the people who were hyped about this thing were among those. Puberty is... long over then. Or should be, at least.

Your reasoning just collapsed like Richard Wellington's alibi, I'm afraid. :beef:

Rebuttal Sustained. I'm 15, and I doubt theres many people that have played AA games, and are under the age of 13.

Umm... I agree...

Not to be naive and assume that everyone follows ESRB guidelines, but Ace Attorney is rated "T" and thus aimed at a teenage-and-older audience, so there should be no reason to think that a great majority of its fans are "prepubescent" and need to be subjected to any sort of censorship or special treatment...

But then, I also don't support needless profanity -- so I'm not really on either side here... :yuusaku: I just...

...Hey, so, how about that possibly-or-possibly-not-upcoming PW anime / spinoff / GS5!? :sawit-2: Real or not, it's much more fun to debate about that, right...?

Personally, I don't want any GS anime based on the main games.

PW Anime? I'm there. I've seen a lot of things on Youtube, some of them by legit anime creators, but nothing for real.

Hmm, I guess that makes sense... since, having already played them, the awesome shock factor of a lot of the cases would be killed...

So, getting an anime with a new or alternate storyline would ROCK -- but, I'd nevertheless be really happy if there was an anime based on the existing stories.

Just the idea of seeing the characters in full motion, and with voices...
I mean, all those TGS special / court / sessions proved how completely awesome an AA anime would be!!
AA already has all the perfect ingredients: great style, great characters, great stories, great MUSIC...
I can't see any reason for it not to happen someday!

I think I'd be equally, if not more, excited for the announcement of a GS anime as opposed to the announcement of GS5. :keiko:
And yeah, I really don't mind that neither one is a guarantee or even a strong likelihood at this point; they're just such wonderful thoughts -- and I'd like to be optimistic until there's decisive evidence that this mysterious tweet was really meaningless~!
