I just found this:

http://www.newgrounds.com/bbs/topic/1260665/2

It's a thread on it, and apparently at Comic Con security has been tightened around the Capcom booth to the point of this (It's a couple of comments from a thread on I think 4Chan. Someone posted a screenshot of them and here's what a couple said):

Quote:
"Comic-confag here. Went to capcom's booth last night. Security is really heavy this year everywhere and they're super strict, but it was insane at capcom. I heard someone just say megaman and they almost threw him out, and they stopped a tron cosplayer from coming anywhere near it."

"I saw that too! She was walking toward the booth with her friends. I was nearby and was like "Oh shit this'll be good" so I watched. Seth Killian looked at this rent-a-cop near him, pointed to her, and he went up to her with two other guys like "You can't be here dressed like that. Company wants you gone." They threatened to confiscate her badge. I couldn't believe it."

:zenitora:
If that is true it's complete bullshit.

and then there's this: http://gamingirresponsibly.com/rumor-as ... an-legends

Capcom said it was false though.

The question is;
WHY is security tight?

Do they have something in-store for fans? Are they scared by the die hard fans?

Nobody's been able to confirm that actually happened with pictures/video, and Capcom's denying it. The source is 4chan, so I'd say it's just someone trying to stir up trouble.

Yeah, that sounds too serious and harsh of Capcom. Then again, they've proven to be harsh, but that's emotional and mentally, not physically. Also, there are times when 4chan's "statements" turn out to be true... Sometimes...

Is it weird that I kind of hope it is true? I feel bad for the people there, but that does say somethign about Capcom. If it's true than that means they know just how much of an impact they caused by cancelling it.

Better yet, it means they fear us. :karma:

If you mean the part where they treat fans like garbage, then yes, it's weird (with a pinch of sadism, mind you).

Quote:
but that does say somethign about Capcom.

It says they're taking any necessary security measures against those that try an access a still-unaccessible area.

Quote:

Capcom Co., Ltd. isn't filled with fools. They knew from the beginning (Japan, North-America, and Europe) that the cancellation would affect the fandom and the future of the franchise. But since financial guidelines are their priorities, then they had to take any necessary measures that would ensure a financial success. Sure, both them and the fans were hit hard, but the ones that dictate orders are the shareholders (i.e. Squaresoft's shareholders decided to change Hironobu Sakaguchi's role in the Final Fantasy franchise as a supervisor and merge with Enix after the financial disaster that was Final Fantasy the Spirits Within).

Quote:
it means they fear us. :karma:

Yes, because they should fear us when they have the law to back them up (Japanese, North-American, and European laws, mind you).

/edit

If anything, the Japanese mothership should be hit hard, seeing as how Megaman was their pride and joy (with Japan running on pride and everything).

I'm with Blue on this one. Fuck laws and rational logic, they cancelled MML3! They SHALL fear us! We SHALL rise up from our lowly postions and fight back! Nothing may be accomplished, but Capcom SHALL see our dedication, and maybe, just maybe, they will forevermore keep a project until at least the demo. And if they don't, and fans are obsessed enough, the ML-3 incident SHALL happen again, much akin to the DL-6 and SL-9 incidents!

I propose we contact Operation Rainfall and tell them to support us (I've contacted them about AAI2 before, they've showed interest, but said that they were concentrating on their three games for now).

Oh, I wonder if capcom forgot all about their cool looking Megaman Online game. Heck, they probably did and when someone brings it up they'll say they are totally still working on it while remembering they didn't kill all of mega man and then cancel the game saying that it didn't meet the "Criteria".

That got cancelled too actually. So pretty much that entire panel at Comic-Con last year was pointless. lol

It was around the beginning of April I think. According to Wikipedia it was for "Various circumstances." So yeah, it probably didn't meet their "criteria." :maggy:

Well, if Capcom holds true to form, Online will be next on the cutting board.
I GOT AN PICTURE TO MAKE. It shall combine one of my favorite DBZ movies and Capcom's original iconic character! Give me one week. (Gotta factor in swimming, laziness, and required extra exercise)

You guys could just organise a boycott of the next megaman product, about the only way they are going to suffer where it counts, their sales.

Mega Man Online is being developed by a Korean company, and I don't think Capcom themselves have a lot to do with it, especially since there's no Korean division. I think it should be safe for now.

The problem is that if people did that, then it would make Capcom even less likely to release future Megaman games...

If they saw "interest" decline (as a result of a boycott) then there's a high chance that they could end the series altogether.

It's nice to see that the thread's getting more activity this time around. But it's nearly that time of year again.

No, not that time. Not that time at all.

Yes, it's that time where I try to satisfy the lack of gaming in my life with emulators and ROMs and shit unless the school system decided to be a dick again. SO, unless found otherwise, I shall attempt to begin playing the Battle Network games on my school laptop, and in doing so gain much-needed experience for my fanself!! *muahahahaa*

Oh, and in case anyone's wondering, I have Battle Network cosplays ready for this year. (Kind-of. Lan's headband isn't what you'd call normal at this point. XD)

Ah yes. Good old Rockman. I mean Megaman

While I'm disappointed that Legends 3 ended up scrapped, shit happens. It's not as though it's the end-all, be-all for Megaman anyway. (I still think it's Rockman World 5/Mega Man V [Game Boy], but I'm an old fart, okay?)

I'd look forward to any Megaman game at this rate. (Though I'm not opposed to Megaman 11 starring the Stardroids trying to re-invade earth or something).

...man I feel like opening my gameboy emulator and playing Mega Man V. <3

Really sucks that they wouldn't let him develop the games he was so invested in, but it kind of makes sense in a way. If someone had just quit your company, but said "Hey, I'll still help you out with those projects if you pay me," how would you react?

I don't think Inafune would be that stupid. I think the contract would have cost less than if he worked for Capcom directly (among other things to sweeten the deal on Capcom's side, since he wanted to get these games done), but he would also have permission to use the license. He can't make a Mega Man game without a license from Capcom, after all, since the company owns his work and IPs that he helped create. And naturally, the license requires a chunk of the revenue.

But I suppose Capcom believed that their investment was still too risky. Perhaps ego was involved too, but they will never say anything along those lines.

Let's not talk aboit Legends 3 anymore. That chapter of our lives is closed. Forever.
Anyways, in Video Game Design, I'm making a *ripoff* Mega Man game. Or rather, a game HEAVILY INSPIRED by Mega Man. It'll have a crazy German scientist, eight evil robots, badass music, and a hero dressed in blue. And, new to the scene, a level system! Hooray! Now Quick Fastman won't be as hard. (eh? Eh? EH?)

Who said Inafune was being stupid?? Capcom didn't want him involved in their work after he quit, and they also didn't want to continue his work after he quit. Everyone already knows Inafune can't continue making Mega Man without Capcom's permission.

I meant that he probably proposed a contract that would have benefits for Capcom. I thought your earlier post implied that Inafune asked to continue to work on Capcom projects with the same amount of compensation, despite no longer working there. Perhaps I misinterpreted your post.

Anyway, it sounds like Capcom execs were unfairly pressing the MML3 team for some results that they couldn't provide... If only they could have given the project a bit more time. I mean, the prototype was on its way, since somebody outside of Capcom did get to play it. Releasing the prototype probably would have shown Capcom the actual interest for the game (for better or for worse).

Hmm, and it's too bad it took so long to translate that interview from Inafune. What he said was already known in Japan for quite a while... over here we didn't know exactly why MML3 was canceled.

Inafune proposed that his company (Comcept) could be in a position similar to that of Inti Creates: developing games solely for Capcom to publish. He would have liked to keep working on Legends 3 (and probably some other stuff, too). Basically, "I quit, but if you guys want to give my company a job, I'll keep working on those games from before."

They told him "that won't be necessary [because we're just going to cancel them all]".
