Ok this is the family that the entire series relies on, without the Feys the entire plot of the games would disappear.

No Mia = No Dahlia, Godot or Phoenix
No Maya = No assistant, no pairings XD
No Pearls = No awesome adorableness
No Misty = None of the above
No Morgan= No bullshit plot for control (no 3-5)
No Ami = No freaking game


On a side note, we never found out how powerful Mia was in terms of channelling ability. From her sprites we can see that she still kept her Magatama after she left, so she should have still been able to have some power. We never found out what it was. As pearl says, the Magatama's ability depends on the one who uses it, and we have seen that when both Phoenix and Edgeworth use it they can see the phyche-locks and unlock a persons secret, so maybe since Mia trained Phoenix to be similar to her she had the same spirituall ability to see phyche-locks.

According to Maya, Mia was really strong spiritually. That could just be an admiring younger sister's embellishment but it's probably fairly accurate.

It's probably from Justice for All, Reunion and Turnabout. Pearls gives you Maya's Magatama and you give to Maya, she charges it up(?) and you bring it back to Pearls and she tells you how the Magatama works and the Psycho-Locks system? So then in Apollo Justice you go into Mason Systems (Turnabout Heir [or succession] ) and you see all the Psych-locks but WTF? Isn't the MAGATAMA MAYA's? She left to Kurain right? She doesn't needz it anymoar? HELPZ ME!

Firstly, Maya gave you the Magatama and asks you to take it to Pearls to charge who also shows you how to use it.

secondly, in the final case of AJ even though Maya has gone Phoenix still has the Magatama. He says it was given to him by a very dear friend [Maya]. the reason its still charged could be for multiple reasons, he could still keep in contact with Maya but its never said, as Maya is now the master her power can span to where the magatama is as her power is now supreme as the master, or it could be that as a result of doing the special course at the end of T&T he might have developed enough spirituall energy to be able to charge it himself.

Plus as we've seen, Mia left kurain but kept her magatama so its possible that as the new master Maya would inherit the talisman her mother had. that might act as her new magatama as it bears the masters crest which is a magatama surounded by other spiritual aids. or she might have been given a new one when she returned. or she might not have needed one, after all morgan never wore one (as far as we know).
