Unfortunately, the photo given has been pursposefully pixelated, so we will have to wait for clearer scans. However, the blog linked above provides a summary of the content.

Update: Large, high-quality scans are available in this post, courtesy of user a-moe. Interestingly, the cross-examination screenshot has no "Present" button, only a "Press" button.

The article mentions some more details on the Mob Trial system. It seems that when cross-examining multiple witnesses, Phoenix is able to keep an eye on all of them by way of the bottom screen; if one of them has an odd reaction to what the person testifying for the group is saying (say, by looking away), he can single that person out for cross-examination.

According to the article, the case against Mahoney is as such: Mahoney was attacked by a thug of some sort and screamed, when suddenly, though there was no source of fire anywhere, he caught on fire.

The article also provides a number of new screenshots with some familiar Ace Attorney poses, as well as a look at the judge, witnesses, and Jiiken - the magazine describes them as very Takumi-gameish. Layton and Luke are shown standing where Maya usually does.

(Note this is from my own translation work, so there may be errors. Anyone who's better with Japanese, please correct me!)

Update: Siliconera has offered up a translation of the details from Famitsu:

Quote:
Professor Layton vs. Ace Attorney has a new mob trial system where Phoenix Wright will have to examine the testimony of all witnesses on the scene simultaneously. Good thing Phoenix has a new brainy partner to help him out.

Famitsu explains you will be able to see and hear the reactions of the witnesses using the game’s cross examination feature. This is how Phoenix will be able to identify contradictions in various statements from the group.

Hopefully the mechanics of this system will be made clear this weekend.

I like the sound of the Mob Trial system. Just to clarify, are you saying that Phoenix is on bottom screen and Layton on top, or that when Phoenix is in court he can also watch the mob's reactions?

Phoenix is the one doing all the witness-watching (can't leave anything for Apollo, eh Nick?) - the only thing about Layton and Luke in the article is a shot of them standing in the "assistant" position at the defense bench.

Hehehe no offence to Layton...but I'm loving how all the media about PLvsAA is AA-centred guess they figure courts are more interesting that puzzles.

Though god help us if that emotionless objection face is the standard.

Sounds like there may be elements of AJ's Percieve ability too with the "If one witness has an odd reaction" thing....

The lines on the bottom screen... HAVE RETURNED! :acro:

Ok, all joking aside, the court system looks fantastic with having Layton and Luke as your aides (wondering where Maya is). Now to wait for Level-5 World to possibly see the investigation scenes (and have Phoenix object to the vague wording of such puzzles when he can't solve them).

Hmm, seeing how there are two assistant angle screenshots with the same background, one with Maya and the other with Layton+Luke, it would appear that Maya is your assistant while Layton and Luke are out doing whatever (finding evidence through puzzle solving?) and they replace her when they return. Maybe?

One thing I find interesting is the fact that there's no life bar anywhere. That combined with the apparent lack of a "Present" button makes me wonder if they've made the court scenes no-fail.

...Though if you've taken out evidence and failure, you've really rather neutered the AA gameplay.

I know we've seen nothing of the Layton gameplay, and I'm sure we'll see that for the first time starting with the Level-5 World event. But, by extension, wouldn't that imply they've also neutered the Layton gameplay? Although I'm not sure 'how' they could pull that off... unless 100% of the puzzles are plot based, as opposed to finding them in gutters and kegs.

It could also be that submitting puzzles evidence is in Layton's bag.

Still... I was hoping this game would be a Vs title, with Layton and Wright at each others necks until Luke and Maya teach them the value of team work. If they have trouble with each other, Famitisu implies they get over it fairly quick.

Well, in the Layton games you can still fail puzzles, but there's no game over; you just start the puzzle over. At worst you eventually hit a point where you need to complete more before you can advance. But I feel like AA's gameplay loses its punch if there's nothing really on the line. (To be fair, the only times I've ever gotten a game over were 1-5 and 2-4's bad ends and that one horribly-worded testimony from Lang in AAI-3, but it's nice to have the tension.)

Still, what really worries me is the lack of a "present evidence" button. You're right, we're far from seeing the whole picture, but, I mean, where do you think "Objection!" comes from?

If you have Layton AND Luke as aides, why is it Professor Layton VS Ace Attorney? When it was first announced I thought Layton would be the prosecution, or something, be against Nick having trouble with him anyway but if he helps you, it doesnt sound like "VS".
