Apparently the Scotland Loves Animation festival is showing the Ace Attorney movie (even though it's not anime?) in Glasgow at some point as the UK premier.
So yeah =D HAPPINESS!
The Festival is pretty good I caught the Professor Layton movie there a couple years back but this is definitely on my to-do list.

I hope they do another showing somewhere in England though, Scotland is a bit far for me, being in the south haha.

My understanding was this was the UK premier, least the website claims it was.

Yeah i have the Japanese DVD, it came out 3 days ago :) And it isn't subtitled, although with my partial knowledge of Japanese and expertise of the game, i was able to fully understand what was going on

We appear to be in phase 2. I strongly doubt we'll see any widespread theater business. I think there's a good chance we'll get the movie for ourselves. Though the fact that last I checked, Sony wasn't listing the movie on their website was disconcerting.

From what I understand, Sony's handling the movie, not Capcom. The fact that Sony isn't listing the movie on their website presupposes this foreign film doesn't meet their internal credentials for a money maker. So who knows how the industry handles bargain bin movies.

From what I understand, it's not a matter of Capcom not caring, it's a matter of it being someone else's property and Capcom selling them a license to the franchise to make it. There's minimal direct control. Most of the control if any on Capcom's side would be via Capcom Japan. So supposing Capcom USA wanted to give the movie special treatment, strictly for the sake of argument. They'd have to contact Capcom Japan, who'd have to contact the Japanese movie folks, who'd have to contact who they're outsourced the international release. It's got too many places where communication would break down.

I mean, if it's been announced that Germany are getting the DVD, surely that guarantees an English version somewhere down the line? So cheer up

I'll be based in London for the rest of this year and the next so it might be a bit difficult to go all the way to Glasgow, but there's no way in hell I'm missing this. Hell, we could even do a CR meet. ;p

We shouldn't struggle. It's not exactly going to be a very big thing considering how popular AA is in the UK.

Well I'll be checking in on it daily then till they go on sale. Though bear in mind this is a small Glasgow-based festival, I doubt the entire UK will have caught on and ship themselves up to Glasgow for a small independant anime festival. Reckon we'll get tickets ok.
