I just finished watching it and it was amazing. It was one of the most touching animated movies I ever watched and it was surprisingly serious. When you watch the trailers you expect the movie to just be pure fun but it was like a videogame version of Toy Story.

My only gripe with the movie was that some of the jokes were lame and made me facepalm.

So, opinions? Good? Bad? So-so?

Lame jokes? Where?

Though man I loved this film, went and saw it again with my pal recently. It gets REAL dark at times and almost had him in tears at bits.

Ralph and Venelope's inside jokes, nuff said.

I nearly cried at some points too.

A great film! I was expecting the retro characters plastered all over the posters and commercials to have major roles in the film, but apparently they were mostly just there for false advertising. Oh well, the story is still very solid even without them. I also loved all those little moments that parody video games in general (Felix's death animation, the Nicelanders' 8-bit movements, Felix's hammer, etc). I was very surprised how dark the movie got near the climax, oh man, I haven't gotten that close to crying over a kid's film since Toy Story 3.

If there's one thing I didn't really like it's that
Spoiler:
the romance between Felix and Sgt. Calhoun felt very out of no where and forced.

But still, I walked out of the theater with a smile (especially since they picked Owl City to do the end credits theme, the song makes me think of Phoenix and Maya).

I was a bit disappointed about how the videogame characters only made cameos as well...And that there was not as much game jumping I thought there would be. But the trailers never really said that the movie would be mostly game jumping. And the movie makes it clear why game jumping is bad.

But, if Disney wanted to make a super smash bros like movie they would have to get a lot of rights and it would cost money. I'm thankful Sonic wasn't overly annoying in this movie because I really don't like it when Sonic gets over cocky and obnoxious and ends up being a character that is style over substance.

Spoiler:
I actually liked Felix and Calhoun's relationship. ^^; I thought it was adorable even though it was rushed.

And Calhoun nearly made me question my sexuality. ^^;

And I wish Phoenix could've been in the movie. T^T

Well it was hardly false advertising, all the advertised characters appeared in the movies besides all cameos isn't necessarily a good thing. Look at AAI, a lot of people have issues with that as it's more cameo than substance. I'm glad they were able to write a plot that worked and stood on it's own merits rather than being dependant upon big video game personalities to float.

Felix and Calhoun's romance didn't bother me, perhaps it came too easily but hey Felix and Calhoun's romance was kinda adorable and led to some hilarious jokes.

Was anyone else thinking they'd be furious at the end when:

Spoiler: Vanellope
Gamers were glitching to victory. In one of the scenes we see she glitches from 3rd right into 1st just before the ending. Man that would make me furious enough to ban her from future games with my pals/refuse to play the game. Technically it's perfectly possible for the horrible future King Candy envisioned still to happen if the gamers ever decided to turn on the glitchy game.

Spoiler: Venelope
I thought her being a glitchy racer who could cheat her way to winning was pretty cheap as well. And, she reset the game, she shouldn't be a glitch anymore, right? :/

And now I fear for the day I get AAI . :/

GK1 isn't that bad. Sure there are cameos but they managed to give most of them a purpose and not just a "hi that's me what's up everyone!" (but one of them felt very very forced to me in the third case). They haven't completely 'glued' the plot to the previous AA games and added some original creativity with it, the new characters have their own backstories that has their own way to link to the previous GS trilogy in a way-each games in the trilogy had things that linked to each of them and I thought they managed to link AAI pretty well for a first- and it also did answer some questions about some characters from AA. Besides the guy isn't an alternate copy of Shu Takumi so of course the writing will be different. One of my biggest concern with it was that it was ridiculously rushed with the timeline though, I wasn't very fond of case 3 in my opinion.

Back on topic I really enjoyed this movie but wished that we could have seen more development with Felix and Calhoun's relationship, like the previous posters said it felt very rushed.

Yeah I didn't have much of a problem with AAI1 cept I thought it was somewhat easier than the other games but just I know some people complain about the abundance of cameos. Not that there's not great original characters, lotta folks like Lang and Shih-na and for me Detective Badd has become like my favourite character in the AA universe.

Don't be down on it yet, just don't be surprised at a lot of familiar faces.

I loved this movie, for obvious reasons. I personally feel it was the best animated film last year.

Spoiler: on the spice discussed
I thought that the romance was enjoyably tongue-and-cheek. It lead to the best line in the film "It's not her fault. She was programmed with the most tragic backstory ever." A brilliant satire of game writing =P

Though, yes, "Duty" is not an inherently funny word, and attempts to pretend it is are just awkward. (I figure that's not much of a spoiler as it's in the trailer for whatever reason.)

This is my exact feelings of the film. I went into the movie expecting more video game references and game jumps, and less poopy jokes. Pixar did a good job of getting me to feel for Ralph albeit a bit predictable.

Spoiler:
I felt tears forming when he started reciting the Bad Guy's mantra.

Well in the sequel I'm sure there'll be more cameos, but that's all they'll be. Cameos.

I definately want a sequel.

And it could be worse, I would dislike the movie if it had a plot twist ending that would have Ralph become a good guy and Felix becomes evil because he took advantage of his good guy title.

I'm pumped already! But I hope Luigi doesn't get shunned out, he needs some spotlight too!

Now all we need is Phoenix Wright and/or Mega Man and this will be the perfect video game movie! :gant:

For the record it wasn't Pixar who made this, just plain old Disney Animation studios.

On that note wasn't the short before the film beautiful? Paperman, the music and animation were just incredible in it. It was like a tiny segment of a modern fantasia.

Oh yeah I forgot that it wasn't Pixar that made it!
I also thought Paperman was really well done. So much emotion in a silent black and white short.

I know Pixar didn't create this, but I think people get confused because John Lasseter, head of Pixar, had major involvement with the making of this movie. Probably explains why I enjoyed it a great deal.
On April 3, 2016, Court Records Forums experienced a miracle upon that day.

That's awesome Gnobo. My family and loved ones think I should do the same but I'd rather watch animation rather than make it. Animated movies take years to make anyway, but I guess it's all worth it in the end.

I wish I had the talent for animation if only to create some of the things I think would be awesome.

Though yeah Paperman was incredibly moving for me though it really bothered one of my friends. He was a bit cynical at thinking Paperman (the least threatening of Doctor Wily's minions) would just up and quit his job over this random woman, and sure I can see his point but I'm not so cynical I can't let myself get carried away by Disney magic.

'Actually Luigi' 'has already been' 'made fun of' 'for being a shadow of Mario' 'in the 64 on the 3DS'. I won't be surprised if he doesn't get included(even though it is kinda sad).

For the Paperman animation I loved it, although when he quit his job to get the girl kinda made me question this part, but I shrugged it off since he did seem like he was certain to have found "the one".

It's weird...When I first watched the trailers, I didn't like the concept of videogame characters living in their own world until they got played with. But after watching the movie it worked for me.
