I looked at the ace attorney wiki earlier, and discovered that Dual Destinies is going to get an M rating. WHAT THE HECK?! Is the game going to be that much darker than other games in the series?!

Yeah this has been known for a while, Cero rated "C", Pegi "16" and ESRB "M".

Well no one knows really. It could be because of the added realism due to the updated graphics, cleaner images and anime cutscenes. We will just have to wait until it comes out to know more.

I won't go into too much detail, but the M rating is warranted. Ho boy, is it warranted.

I looked into it. Because of the changing times, the ESRB is giving it a "M" rating for "various crimes". The crime in AA may have been acceptable 6 years ago, but not any more. does not mater, im still getting it. :godot: :godot: :godot:

Yeah, it's possible the 3D crime scenes maybe get more realistic, and the ERSB is cracking down...

I just hope it doesn't affect sales in NA/EU. I know most fans are old enough/not caring about the M rating, but what about people who see it on the eShop and think "This game looks AWESOME!" and then... "Awww, shucks, it's rated M."

The things that have leaked have implied nothing of that, not yet anyway.
It's just excessive amounts of blood, a bloody murder weapon, etc.

It's the nature of the gore, much more severe than in past games. I won't mention names, but

a child is splattered from head to toe with the blood of a loved one.

I could see AA1 being given a high rating if it was re-released with updated graphics, with the DL-6 and SL-9 crime scenes.

I agree.

I played 1-2 and 1-4 last weekend after watching the AA Movie and though the exact same thing.

I'm surprised

Spoiler: 1-4 Spoilers
The circumstantial evidence plus Edgeworth's confession weren't enough for the M rating.

This plus Yanni's past (The movie does an outstanding job with him in my opinion)...man, we were lucky AA1 didn't get M.

I thought the most horrible moment was, when a certain theory was presented in the last trial. It wasn't shown graphically, but the suggestion alone was horrid.

Last trial spoilers!!

Spoiler:
When it was suggested that Kokone might have placed her mother's bodyon the disassembling chair, to well, disassemble her...

That was so weird.
Spoiler: Endgame spoilers
The entire time I was thinking that Kokone thought of the machine as a magical healing machine, and Kokone had put her mom there to make her come back to life... I didn't realize what Edgey was actually suggesting until Nick pointed out the alternate healing explanation.

So yeah, in addition to what's in the spoiler tag, compared to the other games I think there's more blood and more graphic depictions of the crimes.

There's absolutely nothing sexual in the game, though.

By the way, sorry to bring this up here, but...

I get every now and then to the eShop, and I can't see the game on the Next Releases list (I mean, Yoshi's New island is there...) If the game is supposed to be released in a couple of months in North America, why isn't there even a mentioning of it on the eShop?

Probably because Yoshi's New Island is a Nintendo published game and AA5 isn't.

I think one of the requirements of the eShop for a game to have a listing is a trailer? Maybe the next time we get an official one, we'll get our eShop listing as well.

I'm going to be honest here, the game shouldn't really get an M rating because of one scene.

Actually, it should. It's about whether an individual of an age group should be seeing the scene in question at all. Content, not quantity. In any case, there are a few more instances of things probably not right for a 'T' rating.

Spoiler:
There's mention of dismemberment in Case 5 as well as a scene where a child is covered in blood.

The localization hasn't been released yet.

Oh, for the Japanese? It's been the same level ever since the series began. And like with most Japanese anime, the amount of swearing is pretty mild. The only reason for the CERO-C rating is the violence.

I forgot that nobody would know about how it is in the english version. //facepalm

Well, I pretty much figured that it was mainly for the violence - I just wanted to make sure~ Thanks!

You all need to stop pumping me up so hard for this game. I've spoiled myself on EVERY game before I played them (save for JFA, totally worth it there).

But seriously ugh...I wanna know so bad. I wanna be surprised by Ace Attorney again. I'm not even looking up what the 4th and 5th cases are, since they weren't released on the site or whatever. BUT I WANNA KNOW ABOUT THE JUSTIFIED M RATING GAAH

Well, I'll tell you why in spoilers, you spoil only what you want, alrighty?

Spoiler: Why
Sombody get's covered in a pool of blood

Spoiler: Who
It's a child

Spoiler: Who#2
It's Athena, one of the attorneys

That is the main reason for the rating, I believe.

The fact that it's rated M may be a good thing, because Call of Duty player will think 'Cool, M Rated game for 3DS! Wow, will be so cool to shoot people!". Then CoD player see it's an attorney game, then Capcom already run off with CoD player's money, then CoD player get mad. Like this: :foam:

Then, Jack Thompson plays far enough into the game that he sees
