What if the real Fulbright's family was indeed kidnapped by the Phantom? That would make the Phantom's motive to kill Fulbright more obvious.

Hence Fulbright was probably searching for the Phantom.

Spoiler: Theory (5-5 Spoilers)
1: Why Bobby was killed: The Phantom blackmailed Fulbright after kidnapping his family and he possibly threatened Bobby to kill them. Bobby went on searching for clues on who the guy is. Eventually, he found a lead on who the Phantom is. Therefore, leading to him being killed. It makes sense since the Phantom is mostly aware of his identity getting revealed.

2: At any point in the game, did they say who Fulbright's killer is? Then again, I am not sure of anything

When Edgeworth said "An unidentified body was found a year ago." Could it be that Fulbright was a nobody, not a police detective?

Was it really an unidentified body? I thought I distinctly remember hearing he'd died a year ago....otherwise they'd have no proof of anything. The Phantom could have just went "What? Some random person died a year ago and you think it's me? Hahaha I think your Justice is a little flawed" hell he wouldn't even need to break character and the court wouldn't really get any further.

Was it really an unidentified body? I thought I distinctly remember hearing he'd died a year ago....otherwise they'd have no proof of anything. The Phantom could have just went "What? Some random person died a year ago and you think it's me? Hahaha I think your Justice is a little flawed" hell he wouldn't even need to break character and the court wouldn't really get any further.

Edgey said something like "an unidentified body found over a year ago has been found to possess Bobby Fulbright's fingerprints.

I think Bonny means that if he was a nobody, it would make sense because how can a detective be left unidentified for so long. Unless of course he was.. really badly mutilated.... :larry: why would it take a year for them to get the corpse's prints, none of it makes sense to me.

If you're wondering why the police didn't think to use Fullbright's fingerprints it's pretty simple: Why use a living (as far as they know) person fingerprints on a dead body, that wouldn't make any sense. As soon as Edgeworth suspected Fulbright's indemnity they probably when they started check the unidentified fingerprints to being that of Fulbrights.

The reason it confused me is because I thought as soon as they'd find a dead body, they'd get the fingerprints. Then they'd run them through the system. If they couldn't find a match a year ago, why can they find a match now? How did they suddenly have Bobby's fingerprints available..

If they compared all the unidentified fingerprints to the unidentified body, yes they'd have a match but they're both still unidentified, no proof that it's Bobby.

I'm still confused :sadshoe:

Well they wouldn't in particular try to match the prints to Bobby, but they would run them through the system and not get a match. Then a year later they have something with Bobby's fingerprints on, but where did it come from and why didn't they get it until a year later.

You don't have to try and explain it to me if it makes sense to everyone else, I'm confused easily. It could all be blindingly obvious to everyone and I'm just sat here going :eh?:

Honestly, the idea that it took a year to identify Fulbright was far more horrifying to me than Athena's plan to take Metis apart. While I can see the sense in the prints never being compared to Fulbright's, his face must have been really messed up - if the real Fulbright was a detective, it's very likely someone would have recognised his body, but even if the real Fulbright wasn't a detective, surely the police would have tried to have find someone that knew Fulbright?

I find it difficult to believe the Phantom would be so benevolent. Plus his plan to frame Bobby Fulbright as the Phantom would go up in smoke the second he was jailed. Folks would question why he kept on the Fulbright mask and then when there's no mask he's free...unless that's all part of super positive nice Phantom's plan.

That actually is a good question but remember
