It's probably people who think knowing someone for more than a week means you're REAL FRIENDS WHO GO THROUGH THICK AND THIN although having that kind of relationship would take a lot of time and work. And fake is just their vulgar, every-day-normal-person-use word for hypocritical and such, because hypocritical is too long and hard for some people to say.

I agree, the word friend has been cute down by Facebook and the like for being a contact. Not a true friend in most cases...

Not to mention that if someone is being constantly betrayed and cheated, something is wrong with them. Either they are too naive/gullible or they are doing something wrong to get all that negative attention (more likely)

Have I already stated something here about how I hate Facebook? That site is like all the advertising in the world concentrated in one single web page. It is pure visual pollution. Seriously, I don't even post anything there anymore, I just use it to message some friends.

(And mark my words, Pininterest will surpass Facebook. It is only a matter of time)

I have to use to Facebook to catch up on anything to do with family unless I see my aunty at work. Some of my relatives though have this insanely irritating habit of posting a status to say something to one of their friends when they could have just texted them.

I only add people that aren't total strangers.

I don't understand Pinterest at all. I have one and got annoyed after a bit. The only site I go on everyday is Tumblr, even Twitter has been neglected.

What's pinterest?

I keep a low online profile got Facebook for like one friend and even then I don't use it anymore. Most of my friends are on steam or Skype or I just see em in real life.

My mother does that, too. She even has more rules - she has been known to de-friend anyone who she works with, to keep personal and professional life separate. She will not actually friend anyone who says "Hey, friend my baby's facebook page, please!" although that really makes me wonder WTF is wrong with you people!

I see no point in Facebook. I have my various forums I go onto, I don't have "friends" I'd really want to stay in contact with - and my husband I can contact on Skype any time I want to. Heck, I'm cat-sitting one of my mother's friend's two cats right now and when she wrote down her contacts and she mentioned Facebook, I told her I don't have facebook. I think her reaction was basically, "Really?" all surprised.

Seriously, Facebook is, like, a tatoo. You have it to show how "cool" you are and it actually serves no purpose.

A new social network that functions as a sharing service. It's starting to become popular.

Absolutely. Facebook's purpose is... personal marketing. People promote themselves on Facebook like products are promoted in advertising. They try to build a fake and attractive image by picking their best photos, showing how amazing their relationship is, posting about their "life lessons" and such. And as I said... Aesthetically speaking, the site doesn't appeal a bit. I never understood at all how a site with such a poor design could be so popular.
My favorite "social network" is Last.fm. The few people who use it usually have a good understanding about music, which makes forum discussions pleasant. Also, for some reason, I like being able to see how my musical taste changed along the years.

~

Speaking of social networks... I really wish I could be able to change all of, or most of my usernames. I'm not one to create usernames -- When I'm joining a site, I usually put the first thing that comes to my mind as username (no matter how stupid it is)
Today the gym receptionist asked for my e-mail to keep contact about the news, events and such. When I said it (han160696@...) he looked at me like I'm a freak. There is no secret about it, really -- it's just the first three letters of my name + some numbers of my birth date (June 16, 1996)

The only problem I have with that video is that it uses the audio from the Japanese version of Rhythm Heaven Fever. I personally think the English version sounds WAAAAAY better.

Speaking of Japanese Audio, apparently the localized version of Lightning Returns will have Japanese Audio as a DLC. And downloadable for free the first two weeks it's out. For one, that is so stupid - why not have the Japanese Audio as just a freaking option in the game and not as a download thing? If it's for the sake of money why even bother making it free for two weeks And second, it's dumb to announce this after the game is out in Japan. After all, I and other people have pre-ordered the game.

Overall it doesn't bother me, I prefer playing it in Japanese - it'll get me to pay more attention and improve my Japanese - but it seems like such a stupid thing to announce now rather than earlier.

In addition to the gravy/grovel mistake, you could've easily done a knaves/knives mistake. But you didn't. So you lose points for the missed opportunity.

Mods are like superheroes, they mostly only show up in our darkest hours.

Gah I watched a documentary on Firefly today and it brought up a rather horrible fact.

Since the episodes were played out of order on the network, the last episode shown before cancellation was the first one, the pilot.

The final words were

"We're still flying"

"That's not much"

"It's enough"

:larry: It's so terribly ironic.

That's because mods aren't determined by who makes the greatest number of posts :sahwit:

Does it really matter how many posts a user has? There's no point in posting for the sake of posting. I think it matters more for a user to put out meaningful and relevant content, then just random garbage so they can have a higher post count.

Oh, and to Bad Player I only have to say:

This is why my post count on forums tends to climb very slowly. I know that on NSider (the original, not the pretender), user "ranks" were determined by more than just post count. You had to spend a certain amount of time online, read a certain number of posts, and so on.

Actually General that sounds like a very apt comparison, Superheroes as a kind of janitor for society.

Could be the source of a good "Fall from Grace" story for a Superhero fed up of being a janitor.
