Still reading manga.. works for me. xD

I'm reading Ao no Fuuin by Shinohara Chie.
It is pretty predictable, I don't know when it was written, but I love her art style.

I'm reading Henrik Ibsen's play, 'Ghosts.' I've already read A Doll's House, which I thought was really good, so I thought I'd try reading some of his others. Of course, it's not as good as watching it as an actual play, but I prefer to read.

I'm also reading a book about growing bonsai. I never realised there were so many different styles and techniques. :sparkly-maggey:

Just finished Ao no Fuuin again. And I have to admit, as much as I may love the manga, I do feel like the ending... it's a bit of a cop-out. It's a nice ending and it does end on a high note, with a really, really sad note if you think about it a bit longer, but...

Spoiler: Ao no Fuuin's Ending
I do think the Ending may have been stronger, had Hiko not told Soko to not return to the Kimon anymore and allowed her to live as a normal human. I dunno, it would have been a bit cooler, had there been a sad love if Soko had slept with her clan and into the distant future, when the Oni would awaken again.

Also, I'm currently reading a rather graphic Yaoi manga. It's called Kuroneko Kareshi no Asobikata. And it's so sad, it's about a werecat and how it was abandoned by humans several times... Nooo, the poor kitty~ :accordion-head: :sob:

I catch myself reading Fuan no Tane and Fuan no Tane Plus over and over. I just love how the author made short stories on people's experiences with the paranormal or just based on their own fears.

The ending truly is spectacular. And I'm glad that it's finally a manga series that ENDS. I'm looking at you One Piece, Detective Conan, and Bleach. :meekins:

Anyways, I have to write a book review on Hiroshima by John Hersey. It's probably one of the most powerful things I've ever read. I'm a pacifist by nature, but this truly showed me the devastating effects of the bombs. I don't care how many people the Japanese killed. We should have been better than them and found an alternative solution to ending our fight with them. They were about to surrender and had exhausted their military. Those civilians shouldn't have suffered just because they happened to be on the enemy side of the war. I hate war and violent conflict with a burning passion. I know it's naive to think that the world will ever be at peace, but there has to be a better way to solve things.

Goddammit, everything has to end eventually. If you keep it going on indefinitely, it's going to get stale and boring. At least something long-running Lupin III tries to change things around with different series, movies, manga, TV specials, OVAs, etc. Granted, franchises like that and Detective Conan have probably outstayed their welcome, but at least they ATTEMPT to do things differently. One Piece has the show and a few random OVAs. It could at least try doing something different.

This is my main problem with shonen series. While it can be good a lot of the time, many of the series go on for way to long.

Jesus, this is why I hate fandom. I know you guys are mostly joking, but a lot of fabs can't accept any criticism about their favorite series. Look, I'm a huge Lupin III fan. But even I have to admit that many of the episodes and specials are pretty bad. The franchise can get unfortunately way too formulatic and repetitive, but at least I can actually come out and acknowledge the problems it has. Your series aren't held to any higher standard that mine. Accept the fact that some people don't want endless episodes or manga chapters.

Im actually serious. The story line hasn't gotten stale if you actually take the time to read the latest chapters. I hate people like you who say it just because the length of a series is too long for you to keep up.

Edit: Shit I have lots of animes where I admit that has its up and does and I can admit that One Piece has its faults the story line is going a bit slow but not once has the story line has become repetitive and dull. I just hate when people like you use that stupid excuse that its too long. If you can't handle it then don't read it or even talk shit about it.

"You can't bear it", "don't read it or talk about it" are you serious ? That's why fans of big series like this annoy me.

Of course it can be great to have a long story ! But it's also GREAT when the author knows were to stop ! Take FMA for example, perfect ! The author knew exactly when she wanted to stop. You take Naruto and it's obviously too long (and bad, and it had so much potential at first... what a waste). That's because of the industry system around manga, as long as it works they're going to prolong it until it can't be done anymore (and often it's not the author but the editor that require it, to the point mangakas are tired of their own work). And I'm going to shock you, but it's not a good thing !

One Piece manage to still make great things but have no doubt there are times when it slacken enough to tire people of and it's not their fault, you have the right to expect a constant quality in what you read. One Piece is a great manga yes, and there are still many things to do with it, I don't think we need the ending so soon since we've reached the middle of the story and it would be strange to have it end now. But yeah, it's still pretty long. What makes it's length tolerable is that the universe is big, fun and colored enough to make it interesting. But still, I often just stop to read it and catch up months later.

I disagree. Conan doesn't seem to be ATTEMPTING to change anything. 890+ Chapters, with only about 250+ of those being actually plot-advancing or important. The rest are solo cases of the structure of Meet Candidates and Murder Victim. Murder happens. Three suspects. Impossible trick to somehow deceive police/time of death/location/etc. Murderer has stupid reason for killing victim (generally that they badmouthed someone who committed suicide)
I mean, okay, NOW we seem to be getting really close to the end, cause they are revealing who Subaru is (like we haven't figured that out a good hundred chapters back) and all that.

As for One Piece... I dunno, I kinda lost interest after the Eneru Arc or whatever. Especially now bringing a Time Skip in and all... just let it end. I never watched or read bleach, so I can't say.

And on-topic, I am currently re-reading Half Blood Prince and noticing mistakes.
