Lego Movie, 3/5 stars.

It was definitely a kid's movie, nothing like the old Disney Renaissance films but I still enjoyed it. The way that they animated stuff (like the ocean, that was super cool) was really creative.

Well it's almost 60 years old, so that's probably a contributing factor. It's about an asshole of a defense attorney who takes on an impossible case even though he is recovering from a heart attack. Cue plot twists, drama, and some surprisingly fun scenes.

...Sort of sounds like Ace Attorney.

I've actually been watching two movies at a time, so.. :godot:

Lovelace 8.5/10
This movie is a biography about a woman who later becomes a porn star with help from her abusive husband. I only give 8.5 points because I didn't even like the husband to begin with. He abused and tortured her in so many several ways and even though that was part of her life that should be viewed in this movie, I still didn't like it. Overall, it's a really good movie and I've been watching it for 3 times now in total.

The Lego Movie 9.5/10
Nothing more to add, I absolutely adored this movie and I cracked up at several parts, which makes this movie even better.

The beginning was quite fun, just with all the ups and downs
But suddenly, we’re tired, from a waste of meaningless emotions

Hey this thread is really nice and I don't want it to die!

American Hustle 4/10

I was hyped before I saw the movie. There was a lot good review of this movie so I raised my expectations... And I shouldn't had. I thought it was going to be a movie with a lot of action and by action I mean mind games, but what I saw was so BORING. It focused too much on the character and his relationship with the two girls. Yeah the ending was okay (not giving spoiler here) but man it wasn't worth the entire watching.

Wolf of Wall Street 7.5/10

Really hesitating between 7 or 8 so I made a compromise. The story was good but like my mother said "was this movie an excuse to do an orgy movie?" because I think there was maybe a little too muchsex scene in this flick. But if I have to judge it only by the story, it's good. Another movie about how too much money can bring a man to his downfall, but despite it's horrible lenght it's worth watching only to see his rise and downfall and realise how the guy is so convincing and that he could sell whatever he wanted.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit? 8/10

Recently I bought a book for helping me with my animation skills and discovered that his most famous movie was this one so I gave it a try. My verdict: Good movie/ A must for cartoon fans. First of all, I must say that I found Roger Rabbit EXTREMLY ANNOYING. At the beginning it was okay, but toward the end I just wanted somebody to punch him. But his animation was really good. The story his nice and... yeah I'll admit it I was mostly looking at the animation. Though I liked the way they imagined life with cartoons, like humans could use animated object like acme black holes, but still suffer from the after effects. Also the fact that toons cannot be hurt by real life object went a bit weird since WE can be hurt by their ones.

Last Word: ANIMATION!

Les triplettes de Belleville ??/10

My province hold this movie very dear because it was a co-production with France, Belgium and Canada and was an artistic sucess. So my thinking? I'm so confuse about what to think about this movie. I understand why people hate it and why people love it. The first time I saw this movie I was 10 years old and was horrified by the drawing. If you expect your normal animation style you might get a trauma out of this. Chomet's style is very distinctive and might repulse more than one so if you aren't confortable with this do not watch. Now for the movie itself, the story is extremly simple, an old lady go to Belleville to find her grandson kidnapped during the Tour de France. With the help of the triplet (and a lot from fate) she rescue him. The End. Yeah it's a movie you watch for it's animation value more than anything. Also this music XD I saw a live presentation of the ending song, Rendez-cous (very good, still in my ipod) and I was amused with the "instruments", along with the guitar and the chorist there was a bicycle, a fridge, a vacuum cleaner and a piece of paper there to use as an instrument... nice!
Please don't hit me...

Just watched Edge of Tomorrow. I liked it. Solid plot. Good action. And also, time loops~ (Time loops are always great fun.)

I'd give it a solid 9/10. I really enjoyed it. Lots of fun.

I've been watching a lot of movies recently, so I'll rate each of them.

The Lego Movie: 10/10, completely and utterly fantastic. I highly recommend it to all of you. Everything is awesome.

Godzilla(2014): 9/10. I liked the fact that Godzilla was a bro this time and was actually trying to help out instead of just wreaking havoc on everything. I felt like there wasn't enough Godzilla in the first hour of the movie, but the rest of it more than made up for it, and I'm glad they brought back his atomic breath. Watch it when you get a chance.

Police Academy: 8/10. It was an okay movie, pretty funny, but it was a bit boring at times when nothing was happening. Still, I can't say I didn't enjoy it, and I laughed a lot. I recommend it if you want to watch something funny.

The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou: 8.5/10. It was an interesting movie in that it was listed as a comedy, yet the funny parts were far between each other. That said, when there was a funny part, it got a lot of laughs out of me. Excellent plot, good actors, great movie. I recommend it to anyone who wants to watch a comedy that's a bit strange compared to others.

The Lone Ranger(2013): 5/10 or 6/10. I had never seen the old Lone Ranger films, so I can't compare it to those, but it was okay. The runaway train sequence at the beginning was entertaining, then nothing happened for a long time, then Helena Bonham Carter showed up with one of the most interesting weapons I've seen in a movie(shotgun prosthetic leg, for those wondering), then nothing happened for a while again, and then, the best part of the movie. The final train sequence. Good god, the final train sequence. I'm not going to give anything away, but it is one of the best things I have seen in these five movies listed here. Johnny Depp was funny as usual, which is good. It was surprisingly dark for a Disney film, as one of the villains literally eats a dead man's heart, and there's cannibalistic bunnies at another point. The ending was far too confusing, however. While it had some good points, like the two train sequences, the shotgun leg which doesn't show up often enough, and the amazing rendition of the William Tell Overture during the finale, the rest of the movie was rather boring. I wouldn't really recommend it unless you're watching it specifically for the final train sequence, which, I repeat, was amazing.

Just saw "12 angry men" from 1957 (just like the last movie I wrote about here, what a coincidence), and it was fantastic. It was essentially just 12 jurors trying to reach a verdict, and with solid acting and some nice characterization, it was a joy to watch them debate. Really, I don't want to go into too much detail, but I recommend it wholeheartedly. It is also ranked #8 on IMDB, if memory serves.

Twelve Angry Men is an excellent movie. Don't know if there's a subtitled version out there, but Juuninin no Yasashii Nihonjin / Twelve Gentle Japanese is a fun parody (based on a stageplay by Mitani Koki) that starts the other way round (everyone but one juror is convinced the defendant is innocent).

It definitely is. I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was one of the inspirations for Ace Attorney. The themes of innocence and evidence are very similar. It shows that even against seemingly impossible odds, justice can be occasionally served.

Edge of Tomorrow: Solid Tom Cruise movie, great story and special effects. The writing is witty as well. 9/10

Pulp Fiction: Saw it a while back, loved every minute. EVERYTHING about this movie is superb, writing, music, and acting especially. Pulp Fiction is regarded as one of the greatest movies of all time, and that title is well deserved. 10/10

21, because I really loved it when I saw it when it was new, so I decided to watch it again. Not a brilliant movie (but I didn't think so the first time either, because it didn't seem to aim to be a classic or something), but nevertheless good fun. 6/10.

And, to join in with everyone praising 12 angry men; ahhh... It's wonderful. I need to watch it again sometime, I think it was five years since. 10/10 then and I would be immensely surprised if I didn't like it as much or more now, such a classic.

Speaking of rewatching, when I saw that someone recently saw and loved Pulp Fiction I got a small urge to see it again (even though I've seen it plenty of times, especially around the age of 14) but... I'm not sure I'll dare. I'm pretty sure we outgrew one another, that movie and I. I'm more a Reservoir Dogs kind of guy because nothing beats a bleeding and screaming Tim Roth. :godot:

12 Angry Men is one of my favorite movies (and I'll be sure to check out that link, Ash). It's hard to really find a single flaw in the movie. It's not my favorite movie ever, but it's pretty inspirational

I'm a huge Aronofsky fan (love all of his movies except Noah), yet I've never seen The Fountain. I'm planning on watching it tomorrow and I'll give my thoughts about it

I remember watching that movie for the first time back in my first year of high school where I took Law classes back when I had a interest in Law as a career (Can blame my teacher for making me not want to do it anymore).

Cute, just freaking cute. It's not for everyone. I loved it because their relationship felt so real for me and my father hated it because it was like a whole monologue movie for him, because we never actually "see" her. Too cute...

Last movie that I watched was... the Raid 2. It was a fantastic movie. The fight scenes were fantastic, with its over the top violence and gore. Story was ok. Soundtrack was very fitting. Really enjoyed it. Second favourite movie I've watched of the year (behind Grand Budapest Hotel, of course.) I'd give it a nice 8.7/10.

It's a good movie. Not an epic tale, but still a good movie and a bit of a Growing Up story for Chihiro. (I only watch it in Japanese cause an old classmate of mine was the German voice for the heroine)

I recently watched Star Trek: The voyage home because it went on TV the day I'd been on a party the night before and didn't get much sleep so I had a lazy Saturday. Anyways, it was the first Star trek movie I've seen and I liked it, it was well entertaining, the story was simple enough to get even after too few hours of sleep, and well, I didn't get bored watching it even though it felt like it lasted forever - probably because of commercial breaks - and I'm a person who very seldom sit down and watch a movie spontaneously because I lose my patience. So yeah, I liked it. And Spock is such a sweetheart :edgey:

It was Inglourious Basterds - I've seen it before, but that was when it was new, and even though I've been craving to rewatch it I never did, for some reason. I was visiting my father and it was on television. The funny thing was; me and dad (as well as his partner and my siblings) were at a restaurant and sat there and talked a lot about movies, especially Tarantino (about ten years ago we were absolutely crazy about Tarantino and bonded a lot by watching his movies several times, especially the two Kill Bill-movies. When I turned fifteen he gave me A Gogo Yubari-action figure. Ah, I had such a teenage crush on that character... as well as, like, any female killer in it - I didn't find any man in it attractive, to my disappointment, because I failed to realize that Bill is handsome), and especially Inglorious Basterds because that was his favourite Tarantino and we both craved to rewatch it. "I have it on DVD, yet the player is broken", he said, and I got pretty disappointed. When we got home he turned the television on and; "They are showing Inglorious Basterds!" And it was right in the beginning of it as well. Yay!

I still liked it a lot (Shosannaaaaaaaa), but I was a bit disappointed; I forgot that the actual Basterds weren't in it that much, and I wish they were. I love them. Ahhhh, Donny "The Bear Jew" Donowitz...

If I have to rate... 8/10

I've seen it twice, and for me it was the other way around. The first time I saw it I was kinda bored, the second time around I liked it way better. Though I still can't wrap my mind around the guy with the moustasche being the same one that played Tyler Durden in Fight club (he's awesomer in this one though) xD

I wasn't really disappointed in the movie per se, perhaps I put it the wrong way, because I hold the movie dear - but I was disappointed of the lack of Basterds and Bear Jews. How nice that you liked the movie way better the second time!

Haha, no, now that you mention it, it's rather hilarious. :godot: Bawnjuuuwrnow!

Well, this movie was pretty bad. The story wasn't really good, the moments that were supposed to be funny weren't really that funny, and there were a lot of things that just didn't make sense. My friends and I decided to watch it just to make fun of it but I'm kind of regretting spending money on the movie anyways. So yeah, not worth watching.

Enders Game: 4/10

Ugh I'm not one to seem overly negative about something but so much about this film bothered me. I mean I get you can't always include everything in a film in a book but ugh ever heard of a montage guys? You could have crammed the training to make it seem like it actually took time.

Right other than the entirety of Ender's training being rushed and barely shown (Ender's unique moves and his Launchie training sessions were never covered) I have a massive problem with how they are trying to ship Ender and Petra together. Petra was great but she was a fair few years older than Ender and their relationship was always a sort of big-sister little-brother one. Now they are roughly the same age, he jumps through 'space' meaninglessly to save her where she gives him a ploy to win (a ploy that in the book he comes up with himself), she stays with him when he's unconscious at the end and ugh...it's just....ugh I hate forced romances especially in a film ultimately about kids. In the book Petra is actually completely broken mentally by the end and has to leave but here she's right there, no big drop outs when the pressure gets intense.

Other than that, because of Hollywood the ending is way to obvious which is a crime because the twist is actually good!
Spoiler: Ender's Game
Originally in book the big battle at the end is a simulation, it's all done with lights and dots and just manipulating those lights and dots. It seems like an appropriate military simulation program. Thanks to Hollywood Special effects however they opt to choose to show the battle as if it's really happening...right down to the metal shredding off the ship as the lasers hit it. Debris and damage and explosions and all that Hollywood crap to make it look like...y'know a REAL battle.

Which kinda downplays the twist that it actually IS a real battle. If someone had walked in during the finale they'd be like "Oh this a space battle?" and would be none the wiser about it being a simulation. It's just that it's a good twist and then it's wasted on this film version because god knows Hollywood needs to have it's SFX. The way it's done is bad too, the ending in the book shows that Ender is at the end of his tether he's just like "Screw it, lets troll the executives" and pulls off a reckless strategy he knows would never be applauded (battering ram the planet using other ships as shields) as a massive "fuck you" to his boss. In this it comes across as tactical, he weakens their forces with the big superweapon first then orchestrates it all very nicely. It just doesn't convey how broken he was at that point.

The political intrigue is left out ENTIRELY, Peter and Valentine don't get mentioned enough. ESPECIALLY PETER, a great deal of Ender's thoughts are about Peter and how terrified he is he'll turn out like Peter, yet Peter shows up twice in the entire film, one of those times it's only for about 1.5seconds as some kind of jump scare for Ender.

Then the ending...the ending doesn't make sense, they could have used a monologue to explain the psychic powers of the Formics ("Buggers" in the book I read interestingly) and how they tapped into his mind but instead it's all done by Ender asking a few questions to an actual Formic. Now that I might accept, can't fit it all in after all. The scenario just doesn't make sense though. In the book Ender grows up, flies off into space on a Colony now that they've cleared it of Formics. While he's out exploring the colonised planet as a grown man he stumbles across the playground of his mind where he'd had nightmares. There he finds the last Formic Queen waiting to hatch and adopts it swearing he'll get it to safety.

In this he doesn't even leave the super-top-secret-military-space-base. He finds the Formic Larvae there. Now...firstly...this is a super top secret military space base built on top of a base made by the deadliest enemies known to man. They would sweep that rock clean until not even dust could survive. There is no way they didn't conduct a search to find that egg in all the time that base has been built! Secondly...even if they DIDN'T find the egg initially, Ender is taking the egg out and going back to the SUPER TOP SECRET MILITARY BASE OF IMPORTANCE where he is the most watched, most famous, most guarded commander of all time. Graff or some other superior officer would just take the egg, destroy it and credit Ender with his increasing vigilance for mankind. There's no way they'd allow their greatest enemies the chance to rebuild from that larva and there's no way Ender could hide something like that enough to get clearance to fly a ship.

I am so glad I made the decision not to go and pay money to see this.

Only Yesterday - 9.5/10
This movie was so emotionally moving it made me tear up, which is something I rarely do in movies. The life of Taeko felt so real and understandable, and I was empathising with her character throughout the whole movie. It goes to show even if you've had a rough life, or weren't the most well-behaved or bright as a child, things still work out in the end, and that message was so well delivered that the film had my full attention throughout.

Pink Panther 2. Clousseau is unfunny with a stupidly exaggerated accent. The intro sequence with the cartoon Pink Panther (aka the real one) was better than the whole movie.

Star Trek Into Darkness (8/10)
Benedict Cumberbatch was skull-crushing. (Literally!) The opening was a disappointment, though. If Kirk sent a redshirt into the Nibiran volcano instead of Spock, he wouldn't have lost the Enterprise!

Guardians of the Galaxy (9/10)
I really liked the plot and the characters. However, some of the actors were bad matches. Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana do not match at all!
