Why may I ask is it not fun to dream?

That's not what he said. He said it's fun to dream but it's not going to happen.

Also because not only is One Piece not a Nintendo Property, it's not even a video game (originally).

There's always JUMP Ultimate Superstars for the anime crowd which looks wonderful and whacky but alas Japanese only.

As I mentioned Nintendo has had one piece games here in the NA including the two recent ones and the few for GameCube so for that matter there is no reason not to put a one piece character into smash.

Having games on a Nintendo console doesn't mean they'll put a One Piece character in Smash Bros. As awesome as I know it would be, it's like asking for a bar of gold to magically appear in your hands. Nice to dream about, but not gonna happen.

For one, it's not like those games were exclusive. The newest is on 3DS, WiiU, Vita, and PS3. The other one for 3DS is also a port of a PSP game, so it's not even original (though it is pretty kickass :godot: ).

Hmph...as...I...said. :dahlia:

One Piece is not a game ORIGINALLY. It's actual source is in anime. Therefore someone like Luffy being included wouldn't be a game character it'd be an anime character.

Aside from the extreme limitations on 3rd party characters, they are not going to include an anime character. Whether they have games or not it's the original source that matters.

Today we have a new minigame, Target Blast:

Image

First, you have a set amount of time to beat up this bomb. Get it at close to zero at high percentage as possible, then launch it into the target area:

Image

The area includes bomb blocks and shattering walls to cause further destruction. Your high scores here will count towards your Global Smash Power. Sakurai likes to think of the idea as a combination of Target Smash and the Home Run Contest. Everyone else calls it Angry Birds.

It looked like that to me as well.

Sakurai specifically stated "the area in and around a castle", so I went with what seemed obvious. That, and I remember the Pokémon League building being of a more golden/bronzed design, but I could be misremembering.

Don't forget Battle Stadium D.O.N.!

Okay, the game wasn't really worth remembering, though it could be quite fun at times.

Perhaps it unlocks after certain criteria are met in Home Run Contest and Target Smash? Thereby proving you have the chops to play this new combination of the two modes?

Another new assist trophy today:

Image

It's Prince Sable from the Japanese-only Game Boy title "Kaeru no Tame ni Kane wa Naru", roughly translated as "The Frog for Whom the Bell Tolls".

Image

Aside from the short sword he has in human form, he can transform into both a frog and a snake to unleash multiple attacks on opponents, including trapping them in dust clouds so you can attack them too.

EDIT: New buildable item, the Daybreak from Kid Icarus Uprising:

Image

it combines when you collect the three parts to make this:

Image

It fires very powerful shots while you strafe back and fourth. You change the direction you're aiming at by flicking your chosen control method in the opposite direction you're currently facing.

Some clarification on two new Pokémon found in Pokéballs, Xerneas and Victini:

Image

Victini uses Victory Star to boost the attack power of the summoner and makes them immune to flinching. Xerneas uses Geomancy which raises the launch power of everyone on the battlefield, but gives a much more exceptional boost to whoever threw the Pokéball.

Unfortunately I have the feeling that is to be the case again. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if having pieces of this thing in play negates the Dragoon (and vice-versa) from appearing as well. At least you can turn the items off if they're not to your liking, thankfully.

Hmmm I probably will, and it'll look nice and I have a feeling it'll have unique features to make up for Smash Run being unique to 3DS. As for me I'll get it because it means I can play it at parties at home whereas on 3DS it's limited to people owning 3DSes and the game.

True that, but I'll have to buy the Gamecube controller adapter since that's the only way I can play Smash Bros on consoles anymore.

I noticed that they revealed the "complete" roster for the characters, but it's just the announced ones. No Falco? THEN I'M NOT BUYING IT.

Speaking of Falco, I updated his Final Smash prediction. The Arwing Attack causes Falco to jump into an Arwing and shoot the players off of the screen just like in the Star Fox games.

Most likely it will be like the old smash that you can simply just turn the smash ball feature on or off.

I'm waiting to see if I'm gonna get a Wii U before pre-ordering the 3DS version.

If you're going to buy a Wii U, make sure there are other games you like on the console first. Buying a $200+ console for a single game isn't really worth it.

It should be noted that Famitsu altered their original tweet about revealing the roster to revealing the complete roster so far shortly after, so it was likely either a genuine error or just a ploy to get some hype.

As for Falco's potential final smash, that sounds way too similar to Zero Suit Samus's FS. Besides, considering Link and Toon Link as well as Zelda and Sheik both kept their matching sets of final smashes, it's likely Falco will keep his as well should he return.

The official website has all the ones revealed so far. If you want a simplified list, check the first post of this topic, I keep an updated list for reference there.

Ah, very well. I was mistaken in which magazine was publishing it, it was actually CoroCoro, so my bad on that. I can't find good scans of it, but they "revealed" the exact same roster that's on the official website at the moment. Nothing new aside from some screenshots, which Nintendo released later in a press release anyway.

It's been Nintendo's plan for a couple of years now to release their major games both in retail and digital formats, so it really doesn't need an announcement. They always make them available on the eShop at midnight on the day of the physical release.

EDIT: Pic of the day is about trophies on the 3DS version, showing both the top and bottom screens. First we get one featuring Dr. Wily from Mega Man:

Image

You can rotate the trophies by drawing circles on the bottom screen in the direction you want to turn the trophy. Sakurai says that the 3DS version alone has more trophies than Brawl did, and considering that there are some trophies exclusive to each version, that's quite a lot.

But what if there's a hard-to-find trophy you really want to get? Sakurai's got you covered:

Image

You can buy it from the game's trophy shop, either with gold earned in the game or using Play Coins from walking around with your 3DS in sleep mode. Sometimes they even go on sale, as seen above.

Awww Wily....you deserve a more dignified trophy than that....

Still I agree I'll probably digitally download it. It's good to have a simple game that you can just play without fiddling around with carts. I do like pre-order bonuses though and that's the biggest put-off for me really.

However if it's a game I doubt I'll trade in and I'll buy day-one, downloading is probably the way to go. Normally price is a reservation but day-one the prices are unlikely to vary much from e-shop to brick shop.

I gotta agree, Dr. Wily deserves a little more dignified trophy than THAT, but I'm so thankful that Sakurai set up a trophy shop.

Ah, very true! I do wonder what will be played on this Game Boy stage though. A level from Super Mario Land? A game of Tetris, perhaps? Maybe even an old-school Pokémon battle? There's so many possibilities...

If I'm not mistaken, it looks like they have a similar filter to the Game & Watch stage from Brawl that makes the characters look more 2D. What's certain here is the deliberate color choices; both Kirby and Dedede are in the colors they had in their debut, Kirby's Dream Land, so that's a nice throwback by Sakurai to the first game he ever created.

While it hasn't been stated yet, I think it being 3DS-only is very likely. Though I wouldn't be surprised if we had a console equivalent stage based on the NES, or if they're up for mixing the old and the new, maybe NES Remix?

By the way, I didn't notice Sakurai made a second comment on the Miiverse post (the first was simply the Game Boy start up sound, "♪Ba-ding!♪"), where he states that when the 3D is turned on, it looks like there's an actual Game Boy inside the screen. I usually have it off, but I may have to keep the 3D on for this one.

That would be amazing!
And the music on the stage would be a medley of old Gameboy game music.

So did anyone see the Hyrule Warriors clip with Ganondorf tearing stuff up and looking awesome while doing it? Why can't we have a Ganondorf like that in Super Smash Bros. instead of the middle-aged man with an aching hip who slightly resembles Ganondorf?

Video for reference

Also, is it strange if Ganondorf's new hairstyle makes me want to buy the game even more?

Well....yeah the "Warriors" series is quite a long running game series all with relatively similar gameplay where heroes wade down hundreds and thousands of enemies. Well...except for the very first game which was closer to Tekken.

Now that I finally remembered, Hyrule Warriors looks pretty much like One Piece: Pirate Warriors 2

Well....yeah the "Warriors" series is quite a long running game series all with relatively similar gameplay where heroes wade down hundreds and thousands of enemies. Well...except for the very first game which was closer to Tekken.

Oddly i never liked the dynasty series but when I play similiar games like One Piece I actually like the style of gameplay :yogi:

It really doesn't seem like my cup of tea, but I'm definitely going to give it a try. The character designs and movesets are both creative and awesome.

But I've derailed the thread enough. My point was this: in the video I linked, Ganondorf acts like Ganondorf, and it boggles my mind that he's a slow, heavy, all-melee fighter in Super Smash Bros. when he's been shown being able to do...well, do more stuff than pretty much any single Nintendo character.

I'll be honest I've had a Look and don't Touch relationship with the Warriors franchise, but I'm VERY interested in Hyrule Warriors, and I fully agree that it BAFFLES me that Ganondorf is like that in the video but he's probably one of the worst smash bros characters in recent memory.
