Unless you hack the game, same-sex marriage cannot happen in Fire Emblem: Awakening. There are some characters who could potentially be viewed as bisexual due to some lines in a few Support conversations and DLC conversations, but that's pretty much it.

Does that include Tharja and Female Robin then? Tharja's got that strange Robin-Worship thing going on but I don't know if it extends to a romance.

aawwww... oh well. I just don't like having to be a guy all the time to get the romance options I want. :adrian:

In the meantime, I still have Dangan Ronpa. Of which I have just hit chapter three.

Spoiler: SDR2 Spoilers

While nice, I was hoping for something more substantive. Fanservice in games don't really satiate my thirst these days. I'm all about the emotional development of relationships, and growth as characters. I mean, I still like fanservice, but it's no longer a huge selling point for me.

My interpretation involves what could qualify as a spoiler, so just in case Anthony doesn't want to read spoilers, I'm putting it in a spoiler box.
Spoiler: Tharja's obsession with the Avatar
In a conversation with Vaike, she mentions that "[her] attraction to Robin is something [she experiences] on a higher plane. It's a meeting of the minds." Make of that what you will. My interpretation is more that she's attracted to the Avatar's power (i. e. he's Grima's intended vessel) rather than his/her mind. My reason for that interpretation is her voiced line in the S-level support with a male Avatar: "I can't believe you made me love you! ...Of course if you back out, I'll murder you in your sleep." The first sentence is the key here. This implies to me that she wasn't originally in love with the Avatar. When taken in conjunction with the implication that her attraction is not a physical one, my conclusion is that she's attracted to the Avatar's power instead.

That's pretty much how I feel. I didn't need to see Cordelia in a swimsuit to like her as a character. Then again, I didn't care for that fanservice image of her in the first place, so maybe it's just me being superficial in a different way.

Does that mean she can or cannot have an S-rank conversation with a female avatar?

Fanservice just bothers me these days. Especially once I found out it was popularity based, I disagree with about 80% of the choices made then. Ultimately I find Tharja a very boring character and yet she's topping popularity polls :ron:

Olivia and Nowi are way cuter

The reason Tharja was never treasured by me, is the fact that you didn't know about her past.
Lon'qu's past in he and Cherche's support was very touching. That's why Lon'qu is loved by me.
Libra too. In his support with Tharja, you get to know about his backstory too. Libra was a beast teamed up with Sumia while having Dread fighter

She cannot have an S-Rank conversation with a female Avatar. Also, Anthony, I actually advise promoting at Level 10. The higher your level, the slower your EXP gain, and that carries over even when Second Seals are taken into account. In older Fire Emblem games, it made more sense to get all the way to Level 20 before promoting, but in Awakening, Second Seals make it wiser to promote sooner rather than later.

Yeah. I won't say "no" to fanservice here and there, it's just when it is all that is there is when there's an issue. Like, I like the original Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball game, as it was actually a pretty good volley ball game. No bars where you're aiming to the middle, no distracting statistics, just plain ol' intuitive controls with a resetting difficulty curve that allowed me to re-acclimate every time I played. Even the pool-side games were charming (if punishing), and the only real downsides were the casino (where the reward was a pole dance, but it takes forever and I'm like "so what?") and the friendship sim where all it takes are nice gifts, and the reward for that was cross-character attire.

Then came DOAX2, which had "press a button fast" capture the flag, slippery controls jet ski game, slippery controls should-be-deadly-but-isn't water slide game, took out a bunch of content from swimsuits of the last game, made the pool games way more difficult than they needed to be, and I suspect they took away the resetting difficulty curve, and kept it constant. What makes that last point problematic is that it seems that my partner's AI never seems to equal my opponent's.

... Granted, neither of them have any character development, but... I think it makes my point how I am with fanservice: I'd like good gameplay mechanics and(/or) story with my fanservice, please.

Truth be told, you probably won't have to worry about grinding for a while unless you decide to play on one of the higher difficulties. Just take care not to have Frederick hog all the experience and it shouldn't be too hard to have at least one character at Level 10 by the time Chapter 5 rolls around.

So I started playing Legend of Legaia 2: Duel Saga again. The Legaia series is perhaps one of THE most underrated games of all time. I love this RPG series SO much. I cannot say enough nice things about these games. I sincerely wish both would be put on the PSN.

Yes. All three of them. In one polygamous .

Kanji accepts his sexuality, and ends up with Teddie.

I always thought they would be cute together. Like, I imagine that Rise and Naoto start spending time a lot together, and as Naoto's boundaries are continually pushed by Rise, Naoto makes sure that Rise knows when she goes too far. Eventually, they find they're attracted to one another and go on sorta-dates where they both keep finding excuses to hang out with each other. Then Naoto suddenly blurts it one time during a lot of teasing by Rise, and the pop idol reciprocates, but at first they keep their relationship on the down-low due to Rise's career.

It also makes for a better ending than Naoto x Detective. That LN was horrid. My ending is "Genesis and the other bot get impaled by magnets, and Naoto/Rise have their first kiss over their metallic remains."

Also argh one of my PS2 memory cards crapped out. Now I have corrupted data all over it, which I cannot erase. ;_; Switching to my other memory card, as while it has less room, it's been more reliable lately. Thank goodness Legend of Legaia 2's beginning sequence isn't that long. Or at least the parts I was able to complete.

I ship HayatexAyane. Yeah, they're half-siblings. So? Given the amount of porn I've found about Hayate-Kasumi (you know the fullblood siblings), I'd think my shipping of them is actually on the rather sane side!

I'm not into either. That's still incest. I really don't get why people make the distinction. The only reason step-siblings is somewhat less creepy (even though it still has some of the creepiness), it isn't incest.

It just made no sense to me. I know brother-sister incest is pretty popular, especially in 18+ stuff. It just surprised me that I find Hayate-Kasumi so much easier than Hayate-Ayane. I think I only found one Hayane one, and that was Blue Blood vol 8 and I only found two example pictures of it, cause I can't find it anywhere (only vol 12 which is Helena with Hayate/Ein), but even that seems to have strains of him wanting to call him Onii-chan like Kasumi likely did.

Well it depends. If you're step siblings and never grew up together, it makes sense that romance and attraction can happen. If they did grow up with each other, it's still possible, but not any more likely. Check out the Westermarck effect.

I also don't like incest in the slightest. I once criticized someone for making a yuri pairing of Peach and Daisy, to which they replied saying that they've never actually been stated to be sisters. I've always assumed ever since I was a kid that they were sisters, same thing with Wario and Waluigi, they're not officially brothers, but I always called them the Wario brothers since I was like 6.

I'm not into either. That's still incest. I really don't get why people make the distinction. The only reason step-siblings is somewhat less creepy (even though it still has some of the creepiness), it isn't incest.

Cut by BP.

I ended up having a short-lived crush on my stepbrother. So I got crap from both worlds - ending up with a crush on my stepbrother as well as one, very shortlived crush on my brother. (Yeah, I guess I have good reason to hate brother-sister incest... right? HayatexAyane doesn't count, it's, like, practically canon)

I've always been of the view that neither Peach and Daisy nor Wario and Waluigi are officially related, but in my headcanon, Peach and Daisy are cousins while Wario and Waluigi are brothers. In addition, regardless of Nintendo's official position on the matter, I still tend to refer to Wario and Waluigi as the Wario Brothers.

Admittedly, I'm not one to object to a consanguineous pairing simply for being consanguineous. I might object to such a couple being together if there's a chance of them having children due to the heightened risk of birth defects, but that wouldn't apply to same-sex pairings for what I hope are obvious reasons--and even then, I tend to draw the line at first cousins (hence why I'm fine with pairing Owain up with Cynthia even when Chrom is the latter's father).

I'll always love you, Max.
