Personally I found the "Proxi" pun pretty funny. Though in fairness EVERY OTHET OFFICER in EVERY "WARRIORS" GAME is annoying. Since none of them can take care of themselves for five minutes without bawling to you for help.

I proceeded in Hyrule Warriors and have unlocked Fi. My dream is complete. Have to say, Sheik is pretty fun to play as... btw are we REALLY doing the whole "ZomG Sheik is ZELDA!?" schtick again? And one thing I have to complain about in terms of story...
Oh and why can't I download the Skyward Link outfit WITHOUT Skyward Zelda? Urgh...

Spoiler: Hyrule Warriors... Spoiler? (Cia)
Why?! Why did they have to have her get possessed? What's so wrong with just having a female villain who decides to say "F*** you all, I want me some D!" and proceeds to cause hell cause the guy she wants doesn't care? Sure it might not be a GREAT reason to do things... but hey, name one villain in a Zelda game that had a damn good reason for trying to conquer Hyrule. No, wanting the Triforce doesn't count.

Well if the Triforce wasn't involved Ganon would probably want to conquer Hyrule.

Still doesn't count. That's not a good reason to do something. Like, WHY conquer Hyrule? What is so special about that kingdom that it needs to be conquered? Waker gives Ganondorf the reason for wanting a better climate for his people to live in, but I call bull on that because he could've just MOVED there. To get better climate, he didn't need to conquer it.

Terrible. It's like Nintendo thinks women can't be evil unless a man is pulling the strings. Why don't they make a female villain who does things on her own accord? It could make a cool contrast to Zelda and her amazing goodness and all.

PS: A question to those who play Hyrule Warriors, until when is it a good idea to use the Training Dojo? I just unlocked Fi (unlocked her ASAP because... it's Fi. And she kicks people. It's awesome.) and she's Level 16, Link is, too, and the rest I currently have (including Vulvagina, Wizzrobe and Cia) are between Level 10 to 1.

There's adventure mode maps that require you to use specific characters. So eventually you will need to use said level 1 characters. Except that sucks so you can dump some excess rupees in order to get them to an acceptable level. Its there to stop hours of grinding on old unused characters when you HAVE to use them

Also
"How dare Nintendo not portray an evil woman motivated by sex on her own. How dare they make a man trick her into it."

I feel this is a lose lose situation for them if that's your stance.

You know she eventually stands up to Ganondorf right? She's not simply a pawn the whole way through.

I know what the Training Dojo is for, I read the tutorial part on it and have been using it. :ron:
I was just wondering when it would become less efficient to use money to level characters up compared to just doing Free Mode to do so.

Also, I'm going into Hyrule Warriors with as good as little spoilers as possible. All I know up to now is Cia wants Link's jock, the game tries to tell me that Link and Zelda are somehow bound which I haven't bought for the last 25 years that Zelda has existed and I am not gonna start now with little to no evidence and that Ghirahim is part of the game, Ganondorf looks like Demise and Ganondorf had a lovechild that became this one, Zant will be a waste of time (since he's a waste of time in TP) and that playing as Fi is freaking fun.
Also, something about Lana and clones or something.

I never found trouble with it ever. I think it scales based on the difference between the levels. I've been up to about 40-45 at highest. Once you get into adventure mode you make plenty of money for it.

Also if you are avoiding spoilers

Maybe you should beat the bloody game before jumping the gun and making snap complaints about the plot and character motivations :basil:

Considering I likely stumbled over spoilers already, it doesn't matter. Because, as I keep saying about spoilers, I have no CONTEXT for it. Without context, I can't honestly say "Well now I'm spoiled about this" because I cannot say that I know exactly what happens, when it happens and where it happens. (Though I should've foreseen the Imprisoned in the Sealed Grounds WHY DID YOU DO THAT TO ME, GHIRAHIM!? I THOUGHT YOU LOVED ME LINK!?)

Unless Hyrule Warriors somehow ends up revealing that Sheik is NOT Zelda but actually her twin's evil half brother's cousin who is very much a dude, thank you very much, and has the Triforce of Wisdom because Screw You, I doubt the game will end up with plot twists that are too big. It's Zelda, after all.

I would have put this in the "You Know What Really Grinds My Gears" thread, but it's more of a minor annoyance than anything that legitimately ticks me off.

I find it a little annoying when characters supposedly from centuries the past speak perfect Modern English. I know it's for clarity's sake, but I still find it annoying. A similar situation would be the characters from a video game set a few centuries in the future speaking Modern English. I have a little trouble believing the English language won't evolve at all between now and, say, the time the Mass Effect series takes place. Heck, even the slang doesn't show many (if any) signs of changing. I'd love it if, say, a character from 1,000 years ago who somehow wound up in the present spoke Old English (by which I mean the English from around a thousand years ago, not the butchered Early Modern English we usually see in movies and other media).

Pretty sure Frog and Ayla don't speak modern english perfectly.

Well, which version was he playing?

Also, you can only do so much with the languages people speak in fiction. PLvAA takes place in England, and the Japanese version is in Japanese. Just gotta deal with it.

Haven't met them yet (barely started. Queen disappeared). The style of speech the past uses is very similar to the one the present uses. That's all. It doesn't really bother me, though

Edit: DS version

I think Frog was the only one who spoke "Old English", though I think I recall something about Frog's speech being altered for the DS version. Also, the Queen disappeared? Then you have encountered the first time travel plot problem that I have with the game - well, technically it's the only one, but I find it pretty big.

Thinking about it, I was being a little hypocritical with my criticism of, say, the characters in the Mass Effect games speaking the same English we do. I can make exceptions if the characters are all from the same time period. Heck, I certainly didn't have anything against the characters in the Persona games speaking English in the localized versions (though it's implied that they're actually speaking Japanese and we're only hearing English for clarity's sake). Speaking the language of their setting (or in the case of games set in the future, their language as it might be by then) would be a nice touch, though.

It's one thing when all the characters are from the same place/period, but still a bit weird with stuff like the Japanese version of PLvAA. Are they 'supposed' to be speaking English or Japanese? xD

My problem is more that there's too many American Accents in Space. A whole planet goes into space, colonising new worlds and the most we hear of other accents is the heavy Russian and British tones prevalent in the Quarians.

My take on the Quarians was that they had Iranian accents. Still, yes, I recall hearing mostly American accents among both humans and non-humans. There are some token non-Americans, such as Kenneth Donnelly, Samantha Traynor, and Miranda Lawson, but it is kind of silly that the majority of human accents are American when the Alliance is presumably a coalition of multiple countries with all manner of different languages.

Even then one of those three is there to fill a sci-fi archetype. Clearly riffing on "Scottie" from Star Trek.

So I plugged my PS3 into the internet and checked out the Idolm@ster One For All DLC and realized "All Catalogue" for Free? DOWNLOADED! And I honestly for a minute wondered if I had just gotten the entire DLC for the game for no money at all. Nope... it was the "magazine" INFORMATION on the DLC (basically in-game catalogues I check out that feature pictures) for free... :sadshoe:

Much as I enjoy the DLC of Hyrule Warriors (the DLC done right) I DO wish they would maybe add a DLC MODE or something like that. Even if it's just a training location or so, where I can get used to a character without being defeated in a mission a lot. Or give me a damn mode that is NOT a rehash of Legend/Free/Adventure mode...

So far using a LP video for RE and its been helping me get pasted most of the hard parts I know would have caused me to start the game all over numerous times. I miss when survival horror games were actually as good as they were back when the first Re came out.

Turns out I can't access the Japanese iStore when I have money on my account, so... looking for recommendations on what to spend it on.

Legit, actual, good games would be ideal, obvs. I have an iPhone 5.

I checked out Baldur's Gate and The Longest Journey. Apparently they both work well on the iPad but have zooming/UI issues on the iPhone, so... anyone have any better recommendations?

I just did the sunken desert quest on Chrono Trigger. I saw the inventor's mothers' legs get crushed

I knew I liked the characters but I didn't realize how invested I was in them. The robot offering her his legs and then her telling him he's a good friend...tears. Lots of tears

(I'm not using the character names cause I actually uniquely named all of them and don't remember their real ones)

Quote:

(Some are references. Some are just names I thought were appropriate)

Crono-Hank (this one is the best, but I can't take the credit)
Lucca-Dizzy (this one actually REALLY fits)
Marie-Bambi
Frog-Tyrell
Robo-G-OLM
Prehistoric Girl-Mongo (I realized much, much later how horrible this must sound. It's a reference to the giant gingerbread man from Shrek 2. Plus, it fits so well phonetically)
Time Machine-Zhu Li

It's a really good game. I actually start to feel bad if I haven't let a character in my party for a while. Like, I'm going to hurt their feelings or something. Marie or Robo is probably my favorite (Lucca's theme, though :nick-heart: )

Plus, it seems like grinding is almost never a necessity. But if I do feel the need to grind, I don't mind at all. The fighting's very fun
