You know what really grinds my gears?

Trying to be with somebody you professed your love to.

Here I am telling a girl I'm in love with her and she winds up with somebody else and never bothered telling me. And I only found out today that she is in a relationship. Now I am sure you all have experienced this bullshit. I mean what the fuck, if you get told that somebody loves ya you better damn well believe them that is the truth ad the fact they would do anything ANYTHING to be with them.

Quite honestly, Anthony, if a guy told me he loved me and would do ANYTHING and he means ANYTHING for me, I'd be fucking creeped out and scared off. Like, wow, what am I supposed to do if I DON'T like this guy? Say it? What will he do? Hurt me? Hurt himself, cause if I don't love him, being alive isn't worth anything? (Which is why I overall dislike the whole dying-for-your-lover thing, like, why would I want to be with a person who thinks life is boring or is pointless unless he has me? PRESSURE man! Definitely not the type of pressure I'd want) Like, if I say the wrong thing, something terrible will happen. It's... discomforting, to say the least.

I have indeed felt the pain of rejection. However, I'm inclined to believe that if you seriously believe you're willing to do anything to be with her, you aren't and weren't in love with her to begin with. I say this based on how I have handled rejection; I was once in love with a friend of mine and remained her friend even after I had told her how I felt about her and learned she didn't feel the same way. My memory is that it didn't take long for me to move on, although I can't say for certain why that was the case.

I would guess it's because you valued her as a person and not just some love interest, and your friendship didn't hinge on you two getting together.

You know what really grinds my gears? People faking reasonable concerns about something to hide the fact that their real reason for having a stance on it is not the slightest bit reasonable. You can see this when the more reasonable arguments fail to hold water and ultimately all that's left is the really stupid stuff that only can't be refuted because it's too stupid to be based on reason in the first place. Recently, some people have been raising a huge stink about plans to develop a large empty lot in my area. It's going to be a mix between residential, office, and retail (and parking, which the neighboring shopping center really needs more of) space with some recreation thrown in.

If it gets filled, it will put a troublesome load on local schools? Nope, the schools in my part of the neighborhood actually have less students than usual, so they have ample room for more students.

It'll cause congestion? The main road is being expanded for that very reason, and it's not as if we don't already have bad congestion in that area during certain times of day.

It has almost no planned access to public transit? Our neighborhood's public transit is so bad that the train station shuttle planned specifically for this project will double our neighborhood's access to public transit.

When you get right down to it, I have every reason to believe the majority of people only oppose the project because of the inevitable construction noise and the fact that they might not like the way some of the buildings might end up looking. There will be noise no matter what's done with that lot unless you leave it vacant forever. As for appearance, the architecture doesn't appear to differ much (if at all) from the surrounding areas. It's not as if they're building the Montparnasse Tower.

If you're going to support or oppose something, at least be honest about why you're doing so. If you try to dance around it with fake reasons, those fake reasons will be spotted and refuted, leaving you with just the reason you're trying to conceal.

A lot of people have a tendency to do that stuff GL. How many times haven't you heard:
"I'm fine with xx, as long as it doesn't happen in my neighborhood"

You can fill xx with anythings that's a bit controversial. (Coffee-shops, shelters for illegal immigrants, housing for mental disabled people etc.)
Face your emptiness don't be afraid. The danger is often smaller than your fear.

I'm surprised there's even any talk of it happening, depending on people's opinions. About a year or so ago, they built a new house only two houses away from my place. Yeah I had to deal with loud construction on weekdays and from 7 AM onwards at times. But I don't recall it having any influence if I had said No I don't want new houses to be built. Then again, maybe you live in a smaller community where the people are more involved?

You get immersed when you are petting your cat? There's a simple solution to this, it's called "unplugging your phone".

Just remember to plug to in whenever you've finished, okay?

This is much bigger than a house. The lot in question is huge. The developers expect it to be home to so many jobs and residents that there's a 3,500-space parking garage included in the plan.

You know what really grinds my gears? When people refer to Captain Falcon as "that guy from Smash Bros." It's incredibly ignorant! None of the playable characters are "from" Smash Bros, they all have their own franchises they come from! Do these people even check the trophy descriptions and whatnot that clearly state that he's from the F-Zero series?! Thi Pisses me off to no end!

That's simply because Nintendo for some reason refuses to give him a new game. I was certain he was going to get a new game when the Wii was released, as motion controls would go perfectly with it, but nope! Nintendo still refuses to give him any attention, he's like the Earthworm Jim of Nintendo characters!

I'd have to agree that that entry is the best one in the whole series. Although the gamecube/arcade one was also wicked fun.

That one is the only one I've played, and if it IS the best, I don't wanna play any of the others. It's aged about as well as Super Mario Kart on the SNES, which is to say, it didn't age well at all. Only 4 playable vehicles, repetitive and flat tracks, no thanks. The reason I want to see him get a new game is so I can finally get a taste of what the series is really like.

Special Snowflakes

Image

People who think that just because they don't fit in with what society deems "normal" they're better.
Am I saying that people are all the same? No I'm not.
I'm saying that you're not "special" for being "different"

The age of tolerance has brought about a situation so terrible that lifestyles are being formed around the idea that no matter what you do, people HAVE to accept you.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

The Age of Tolerance first happened during the time when gay marriage was a big issue.
A group of people got together and decided that even though they were a little different, (i.e. Gay) they shouldn't be treated any differently.

This, was perfectly acceptable, there is no reason in the world that a person who is different should be treated lesser for it.

People spread their views, and homosexuality has since become more and more prominent in daily culture. (and is no worse for it!)

We accepted these people, they were our brothers and sisters.

For a while this was good, and people regardless of creed grew closer.

And then, the unspeakable happened.

Someone who was a new shade of different emerged
The Special Snowflake

The Special Snowflake is a person who has unreasonable demands for the entirety of society. The Special Snowflake is the man who sits next you on the bus and asks you to not sit on their invisible tail. The Special Snowflake is the person who demands that you learn their pronouns correctly.
Rather than being a man, or a woman, they are a Special Snowflake, they fit into no category but their own and everyone needs to make sure to accommodate to their lifestyle.

The Special Snowflake is a creature that seeks to be different for the sake of being different.

Now, a creature such as this would be fine.
History has seen many of these things, and they have gone on to be productive members of society

But when The Special Snowflakes attributed themselves to The Tolerance Movement.....
Things got bad.

No longer are you allowed to have an opinion different from The Special Snowflakes.
You WILL conform to them, or you will be ousted, sued, labeled a bigot.

Humor will be the first thing to go, in and of itself it is a thing of mocking what is "different"

Music will soon follow, as certain words and pronouns will be offensive to people who don't fall into the target demographic.

Then Art, expressing yourself could offend someone, and being offensive will not be tolerated in the second order of the Age of Tolerance.

I see a future ahead, were the world is dull, and grey.
Nothing to offend anyone.

Everyone is different, and when different is forced to be tolerated, difference becomes abrasive.
So, in order for no one to be offended, the individual is removed in favor of the acceptable.

Dear readers, I present this chilling prophecy;

The Special Snowflakes will blanket the world, all till become grey, become unoffensive, and conform to the Sovereign of Snowflakes, for being you is being offensive to someone else.

Blame the parents who keep telling their kids that they're special.
Look, parents, just because YOUR brain was chemically altered post-birth of your offspring and it makes you see your child as a little angel that is adorable doesn't mean the rest of us don't see the truth in that your brat is an obnoxiously loud machine.

You know what really grinds my gears? People who prefer to save the life of an animal, when that may suppose endangering many other human lives.
What's wrong? Why do I have to be less of a priority than an animal that has to be sacrificed for good? That happened in Spain wity the whole Ebola issue. Demonstrations were arranged to save the dog of the infected nurse, because it might have been infected as well and it's dangerous, you know? But of course there were people complaining! Ok, fine, but at least I was not willing to get sick for an old dog.

You know what really grinds my gears? Symbolic dreams used in media.

This may sound a tiny thing to be grinded about, but it's true. I'm kind of sick and tired of dreams always being symbolic, prophetic or just plain foreshadowing what is going to happen soon enough. In Harry Potter, he had dreams of flying motorcycles - that wasn't so bad, it had really happened and he just casually mentioned it at one point.

But symbolic dreams always giving you answers about something or someone... it's just boring. Especially if it happens to people who are not established as somehow being "psychic" or anything like that. Why can't these people have "real" dreams? What's so terrible in lightening the mood by giving someone a big exposition or foreshadowing thing, proceed to the dream and then it turns out to be nothing?

I do that! In one of my chapters, I don't show the dream, but a fever-ridden person mentions that someone woke them up "when they were brushing their teeth". Yes, I made someone have a weird-ass dream about brushing their teeth in a story, for the sake of a little comedy and to show that dreams could be anything. I want a character to play a card game and proceed to dream that PEOPLE have cards as their body, but still with their head and extremities.

Just... make a weird-ass shit dream of chocolate cake running after you while you jump hurdles for the Olympics. Not another symbolic dream that needs to be totally dissected to find out its meaning... when it isn't BLATANTLY obvious and telling you what it means.

That reminds me...

You know what really grinds my gears? The youth of today berating classic old-school video games for "not having aged well". You know what, I bet in ten or fifteen years time, modern games like Destiny and Titanfall "won't have aged well", so stop bloody complaining, and enjoy them for what they are!

I'm 20, thank you very much. I'm not some little kid. I grew up with games like Super Mario 64 and Ocarina Of Time, the former of which hasn't aged well either.

The latter hasn't aged well, either. Neither has FF VII.
I actually find that the Super Nintendo 16-Bit graphics aged better than most of the "new" polygon 3D art they had around that time.

Other than the graphics, Ocarina Of Time has aged pretty good. I'm one of the weird people that didn't even mind the Water Temple all that much! It still isn't my favorite Zelda game; it's actually my 3rd favorite. My top 2 are Skyward Sword and Link To The Past, respectively. Keep in mind that Ocarina Of Time was my 1st Zelda game. I've only played the Game Boy Advance version of Link To The Past.

It hasn't. The controls are horribly clunky, the story has the biggest plot hole in Zelda games I have seen to date and some of the dumbest problems, too. I am willing to suspend my belief to a certain extent, but when the Gorons opt to STARVE instead of moving a boulder, I see no reason why I should help them.

I don't hate the temple, either. It's not broken or difficult. It's just long and somewhat tedious. But not "ZOMG RAGE QUIT!!" terrible.

So? Ocarina was my first Zelda game, too. :eh?:

Personally I call them Social Justice Authoritarians because they just want to restrict everything like North Korea.

I hate the whole political correctness thing in general. Freedom of speech allows us to say what we want, and allows other people to criticize it as much as they want. But now everything is a trigger and a microagression, destroying expression.

Ugh tired of seeing rape/sex jokes whenever people mount monsters in Monster Hunter, that time I just straight up quit the quest. No patience for that thing tonight.
