You could blame Flanderization for a lot of things in an ongoing series; it naturally happens on its own. My point is, it can be made into much more than simply "used for comedic effect". The judge gets more asinine the more we see of him, but we can still say it's due to his overdue retirement. What excuse does the force have? The first game mentioned a few corrupt officials, but it was pretty exclusive to a certain case or two. I believe this is where the AAI games shine; they actually address a few moral questions regarding the corruption in such a system that binds prosecutors to the investigators. They took something that was muddled since the beginning of the series and made it a little more concrete.

They've only scratched the surface, though. I await further developments in the near future.

What a bloody knobhead Shelly De Killer is. It's like everything he does is graced with stupidity. Examples I can recall from the top of my head include:

Spoiler: 2-4
* Accepting payment in plain sight and allowing himself to be seen walking in and out of Corrida's room (sure it proved to be a dead end but he drew Powers' attention to him
* Setting up a super suspicious kidnapping scheme to force an aquittal for an "innocent" guy
* Hiding the kidnapping victim in his client's house when said client is suspected of murder and likely to have his home searched
* While acting as a butler spending his time in his client's house and thereby connecting the two of them to each other, while going under the most fake name ever: John Doe
* Saying himself he doesn't want his face to be seen, yet walks around both in the hotel and in Matt's house where for example Pearl could easily have recognized his face from when he told Maya she had a call (it's not like his face is that of a plain Jane either)
* Leaving his card in Maya's posession so that she could sneak out from the cellar
* Randomly calling up to testify for no appearent reason
* While obviously being able to be tracked through the signal, since his condition is that he will only testify if the court promises not to track him down
* Going to length to describe how he meets all his clients in person and that he met Adrian in person without anyting whatsoever to back his claim up if questioned
* And when his slip up is discovered he goes on to say that no, he remembered incorrectly and did in fact only speak to her through mail; in fact, there are a few clients that he doesn't meet with in person after all, thereby telling perhaps the most obvious lie ever
* And describing her as "my client" and "they" and then suddenly referring to her as "he" for no reason (also strange how he seemed to know just about everything about her that had been brought up in court, but not her gender)
* Managing to drop a gun, a video tape and a costume just like that. How?!

And
Spoiler: Mild GK2-1 spoiler
* Randomly selling ice cream while in a jacket with his fucking call card logo on it

(......Ack! I've run out of snide comments!)

Yes. Every single "why the hell did he do that?" can only be answered with "because he's bloody stupid". :kudo:

Hey now, that first one is not a Shelly-exclusive thing! Every goddamn witness says "Oh I just remembered wrong" and is allowed to testify again and again until the lies sound right, when every court that respects itself even remotely would have a very hard time to be convinced by any succeeding testimony.

As for how he dropped it, well he was likely mostly focused on keeping his trump card, Maya. The video tape was likely just a plain mistake, it can happen and likely the only thing (other than Maya) he cared about cause his client said he should make sure it doesn't get into police hands. (Maybe they were so close that if he had stooped to grab it, they would've caught him)

But for the most part, he didn't drop them, he left them behind. The costume proves to be pretty pointless and the gun merely helps in showing a connection to Franny being shot. Those two were likely not that important so, really, what does it matter.

In his defense though about not having a responce ready if pressed in his testimony.
Shelly was banking on the fact that Phoenix was going to get a "Not Guilty" verdict. He wasn't expecting Phoenix to try and tear apart a testimony that would only help him in getting his acquittal. Smart? No. Understandable? Yes. (Kiiiinda).

Ding ding ding ding ding...

CatMuto Sure, but it wasn't just "I met Adrian in person. No wait, I mixed them up with someone else, it was through mail." It was "I met Adrian in person. I meet all my clients in person. I have to look them in the eye. Trust, blablabla. No wait, I mixed them up with someone else, it was through mail. I speak with some of my clients through mail, actually. I'm modern, blabla."

Still, why even drop by at his hideout instead of just driving like hell? And he was told the video tape was really realy important to his client, so it is a pretty big mistake to just leave it behind. He even injured three officers to get it back.

During the first trial in 3-2, Ron says something like "Please stop, you're embarrassing me" when acknowledged by Godot. After the trial, Dessie says the same thing to Maya as Maya thanks Dessie for bringing the bag with the urn to court. Marital likeness? Quite sweet :desiree:

That in the long run, Engarde totally lost to Corrida. Corrida's death, however gruesome it may have been, was kinder than the rest of Engarde's life (and highly possible death) will be, and Corrida will be remembered as an actor as well as a tragic murder victim, while Engarde will be remembered as a horrible person and a murderer.

Idk
Spoiler: 2-4 spoilers
Matt will always be seen as the brig bad murderer. But if I was in that courtroom. Idk, I don't think I could forget that Juan forged a suicide (perhaps even stole the real suicide note and destroyed it) of his dead fiance and used her death to fuel his own petty revenge needs.
Juan may not have been a murderer. But I don't think people would view him as a completely innocent, tragic, murder victim.

What REALLY bothers me is something hidden in plain sight, and ever since I noticed it, I can't help but try to figure out why...
Matt wins all of popularity polls. He's said to come out on top on almost all of his competitions with Juan. His show is Famous. He is Famous...
So then why... Why when you look at the hallway in the gatewater hotel... Do you see something missing?
Matt is the one the case pushes as the more famous, popular, and widely loved one. So why is the only thing Matt has as a gift flowers from the studio? Juan has flowers and bear gifts from fans that not only absorb the hallway. But his entire room. Phoenix even says "Compared to the flowers on the other side of the hall (Matt's flowers), these (Juan's) are much more gorgeous."

For someone so beloved. and for someone that "wins" at everything. He sure doesn't win at receiving gifts.
and I wish I knew the exact reason why...

Media does like to portray things in black and white, though. And although Juan wasn't completely innocent, and I won't argue that everybody will see him as such, his reputation will probably come out more unharmed than Matt's. And what is left of Matt's life will most likely be absolute hell to him.

Yup, that bothered me as well.

I took that as a sign that Engarde wasn't as beloved as it seemed at first glance. Maybe it was the first hint to his 'true' self.

Damn you media!! But you're right about Matt. His reputation and life is basically hell now. and in the end Juan will definitely leave that case as the less tarnished of the two.
I'll never forget he was a jerk too though. xP

Yeah, I've heard others say it's a hint to that too... But I still feel with how hard the writing of the story liked to push how popular he is. Even if there are people that know how he truly is. It just doesn't really make sense that he'd have NOTHING. and I don't take that " I guess Juan had a few of those kinds of fans too, huh dude?" as a response to the bear as proof of him receiving things like Juan did...

I mean for heavens sake, he just won the grand prix. He really should have something.
and a few people or even half or 3/4 of the world knowing what he REALLY is like. Shouldn't lead to him having NOTHING.
I just wish there was a more in-depth reason why he didn't have anything. Because atm it feels like a plotline they forgot to write an end to. :P
and I just think it could have been an interesting story point if they finished it.

Maybe he thought that some gift could have a secret camera installed to spy him or something. It makes sense with his 'never trust anyone' philosophy.

But maybe it's just that Juan's fans, the few he has, care a lot more about him than Matt's fans care about him.

Unsurprisingly, that sounds exactly like something he would do/say. xD
If he rejected presents at the door though, then I'd love to see a shot of the bellhop being crushed by sheer mass of presents from Engarde's fans. :3

That would really fit the paranoid part of his personality. It would also fit with the line I quoted above.
If Matt's fan don't care enough to shower him in presents after winning the grand prix, then they suck. :yani-fist:
I'd shower him in bears for irony at the very least.

I don't think the training took place in the garden itself, but was more a roundabout way to get to the training location. (Or perhaps taking a circle walk around the location was part of the ritual before starting training)

This is obvious per se. But it was obvious enough for my brother atleast so I figured I'd show it.
In case 3-2 in Larry's security office there is a piece of paper obscuring the monitors.
On those monitors is an NES game called Dragon Warrior / Dragon Quest

This is on all versions of the game but is most evident on the ipad and 3ds version
