The newest trailer for DGS is here, and it's a whopping 5 minutes long, complete with voice acting!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X7fl2xDedO8

Initial subs have been added, subject to tweaking.

UPDATE: Official site has seen a total redo, showing off music, voice acting, screenshots, and art!

http://www.capcom.co.jp/dai-gyakuten/

The game is also available to order at e-Capcom, and comes in several editions, the most luxurious of which is the Special Edition:

Image

Included is a mini-trunk of Sherlock's, two small rabbit dolls based off Sherlock and Iris, 6 postcards featuring the main characters, a notebook styled after Randst Magazine, a sticker based off Sherlock's business card, Ryuunosuke's student pin, a Sherlock Holmes theme for the 3DS, a 48-page artbook, a 10-track mini soundtrack, and of course, a physical copy of the game. Other editions have various subsets of the above:

One thing for sure, they no longer snap to keyframes for the character animations.

Very rough translation:

Quote:
RYUUNOSUKE: I - that is - the defense asserts its right to a cross-examination!

HOLMES: It seems the truth is within reach. We've already come this far.

SUSATO: I'll do what I can, Mr. Wright! I am a legal assistant, after all!

IRIS: Take a look - it's my latest invention!

ASOUGI: I'll change this country's legal system.

BAROQUE: Thus it must be. My "sacrifice"...

JURY BATTLE BEGINS
Six ladies and gentlemen, randomly chosen, shall shape the future of the courts...

BAROQUE: Allow me to introduce you! These chosen men and women shall run this trial.

NO. 1: Hmph! I'm prepared to hand down whatever sentence is necessary.
NO. 2: Allow me to take care of any garbage, as my husband requests.
NO. 3: Quite the luck you have there, running into us.
NO. 5: Begone!
NO. 6: What was that? Sorry, I'm busy with these gloves.

SUSATO: In English law, a verdict is decided by both a judge and six jurors. White is innocent. Black is guilty. If the jurors all belive the defendant is guilty, the trial shall conclude at that instant, and the judge shall deliver his verdict.

NO. 3: HOLD IT!
Quit wasting your time. We've already made up our minds!
"GUILTY!"

BAROQUE: Listen well, attorney: this is a modern trial. The jurists together reach the correct verdict, and it is to be respected.

RYUUNOSUKE: Dammit! Isn't there anything we can do?

SUSATO: HOLD IT!
The defense has the right to present a closing argument to the jury.

CLOSING ARGUMENT
A way for a defense attorney to impress his view of events on the jury and save his case.

SUSATO: If, after that, the jury overturns its verdict, the trial must continue!
Mr. Wright! You've got to convince them!

RYUUNOSUKE: The defense asserts its right to a closing argument!

BAROQUE: "HOLD IT!"
Pointless. A verdict once delivered cannot be overturned.

RYUUNOSUKE: "HOLD IT!"
I'll show you - I'll change the jury's minds!

From the empire of Japan to the empire of England. An overwhelming new story is about to begin. A miraculous meeting between an attorney and a great detective is about to take place.

RYUUNOSUKE: This feeling... I've never felt this way before. A certain word is surging through me - this belief in this contradiction, this feeling of anger - and with this finger...

"OBJECTION!"

So... Is the voice acting just for this trailer (as it has been done before), or will it be in the game as well (if they stated anything about it at all)?

If it's the latter, I really hope that it won't impede localization.

That never stopped PLvsPW, which this seems to be heavily based on, mechanics and theme-wise. Then again, the voicework was probably mostly Level-5's thing more than Capcom, so it could go either way I suppose.

I'm really loving the new Jury system mechanic that their gonna be adding. The 3D models are very well improved compared to Dual Destinies.

I think the game will hopefully come out by December or next year for NA.

The one difference here is that PLvsAA's localization was mainly done by Level-5, who was willing to spend the amount of money to have the VAs speak as much as they did, because that's what they do for the Layton games.

DGS is gonna be entirely done by Capcom, and they might not want to spend for that many recording sessions for an AA game. Especially if they stick with union actors.

Personally, I would probably be fine if they decided to make the localization like DD (where only shouts and cutscenes are voiced) due to budget constraints, rather than not getting the game at all, but I would greatly prefer it if they did get that much voice acting in there, expensive as it may be. (Crispin Freeman for Prosecutor, perhaps?)

If they voice acted breakdowns? That would be enough to colour me really impressed. I liked that feature a lot in PWvsPL.

I love Ryu's animations in this though. Slapping his face to psych himself up is pretty great :kristoph:

That was like the ultimate Ace Attorney trailer.

I've never been more excited for this game as I am now. Capcom US, please, say something. I'll buy it on a cartridge, digitally, on a freaking disc, however you want me to, but give me this game. As much as I'd love not to need localization Japanese classes take time and money, both of which I lack.

That trailer is one of the best things I've ever seen.
The 3D models have improved DRAMATICALLY from Dual Destinies.
I love how Ryuu's eyes shift back and forth in nervousness.

Loving the new site too. Especially the music on there.

I think Takumi and his team have seriously outdone themselves. Let hope for a Western Release!

The E-Capcom LEs are available on Play-Asia but they want $165 for it...

:\

EDIT: Scratch that...$165 + $35 shipping. Faaaaantastic. I should probably consider a different avenue.

So on topic of the Japanese trailer, can someone who's good in seiyuu-fu identify the voices? I think I recognized one or two, but I'm usually not that accurate.

But I'm like 90% sure that Ryuunosuke and Baroque are JoJo and Dio, respectively, which is really awesome.

Nope, you're wrong.

Ryuunosuke is Hiro Shimono and Baroque is Kenjirou Tsuda (Dio's is Takehito Koyasu). I also recognise the mentor's seiyuu but I don't know who it is right now >.< I don't know the rest of them.

Edit: Ok, I think the mentor is Yūichi Nakamura (Gray from Fairy Tail, Kadota from Durarara...)

Yeah, they sound a liiitle bit similar, having a deep voice. I love those two seiyus (Takehito and Kenjirou) so that's why I recognised them immediately xD When I heard Baroque's voice I had a fangirl attack xD

This looks really good! Although I could care less for yet-another-ridiculous-whiz-kid Watson, I can't wait to see Sherlock Holmes in action. Voice-acting would be a neat addition too, Japanese or English.

Who is supposed to be narrating the beginning of the trailer? When he said he was Sherlock Holmes's friend, the first thing I wondered was if the real Watson exists in this universe alongside Iris.

But I don't think it's a good idea. From what I've seen in the trailer, he just seems like a normal prosecutor, I mean, he does his job and that's it, only he's pretty good and intimidating. Prosecutors are rivals, not bad guys... But I hope he's someone connected to the story, they always are anyway.

Huh? He doesn't sound like Baroque xD I think it's something like Feriku said. I've also wondered if Iris maybe has a father or grandfather, who is the actual Dr Watson.

But the actual books of Sherlock Holmes as we know them do exists in the world of DGS: it's just that they are written by Iris Watson, instead of John H. Watson, who appears to be a literary figure now. The introduction could therefore very well be the narration from a manuscript Iris wrote based on their experiences from DGS (which would be narrated by the 'fictional' character of James Watson).

Yes, I know. But what if Dr Watson writes too? Maybe like a dairy. It's true that it is Iris who wrotes the novels, but maybe Dr Watson also appears and also writes about him. Of course, we don't know yet if the actual Dr Watson exists in the game at all, so it's just a (game!) theory. But I found strange that they used an adult male voice for that if it's Iris who writes the stories. That's why I'm thinking Dr Watson may be in the story as well, and since his daughter or granddaughter (well, I think daughter is more possible) is very intelligent, he let her with Sherlock.
