The difference between "Naruhodo VS The World! Global Courtroom Revolution!" and "Wouldn't it be fun if we had a goofy Sherlock Holmes?" is too much for me at the moment. I'm really not sure what to think.

Are you freakin' kidding me? Are they seriously turning Phoenix into Superman by making him fly around the world to defend the weak and defeat all evil? Not that I'm complaining, but the image is too hilarious to forget.

I mean, the original Japanese wording is below if you want to chew on that:

Quote:

...If they were concerned Phoenix had run out of enemies/people who could match up to him in Japan, I can't help but feel there's a different solution they could have gone for...

30% complete huh? Expected it to be a bit further considering how long ago they said they were working on it and the fact they'll have a playable demo in a few weeks. Guess it won't be coming as soon as I hoped. :ron:

At least ZE3 will be out in the summer to tide me over.

But of course Yamazaki would want to make things grand and epic. It's what he does. Now I wonder if each case is going to take place in a different country or something.

Fine, they never receive any meaningful follow-up. Admittedly Morgan is the closest we get to an exception, but they clearly left that plot thread open at the end of JFA, and she only played a background role in T&T. The Phantom's plot and connection to the cast has been resolved and wrapped up. (And no, his face is not an unresolved plot thread.)

The only plot thread that might have been left from that is that i think he was working for some organisation. I'd like to know more about that but i doubt it'll ever go anywhere.

I don't remember anyone in the game mentioning that he was working for some mysterious organization in the shadows. It's only mentioned that he's an international spy, and given his actions, he most likely worked for some country that is in a spacial race with Japanifornia or something like that.

And the Gramarye plot from AJ was wrapped up in that game, too. The only thing that resembles a loose end is that Apollo doesn't know about his family, which is pretty trivial in the big picture.

So we're probably going to get a brand new story for this game. I think it's pretty much confirmed with the little information we have.

In just now: with nobody capable of beating Phoenix in the land of the living, Ace Attorney 7 is set in the underworld and has Phoenix saving defendant spirits from the terror of the Eighteen Levels of Hell and the wrath of Enma! (with abundant cameo appearances of all your favorite dead people like Von Karma!)

Von Karma is the prosecutor and it's set in hell? I'm sure I've played an AAO fancase with this premise before... :ron:
But I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of these mythological tropes will appear in GS6. All the talk of the supernatural makes me think every case'll be another Nine Tails Vale again.

I know you're kidding, but I'd totally play that.

Jigoku Saiban. Do it Capcom! :shoe:

Personally, got no problem with the setting whatsoever. I believe that "trip" in a foreign country is more about finding ways to improve the current judicial system, rather than finding challenging opponent. Wasn't there a couple of characters doing that in past entries?

Though to be honest, there's so little we know about this game and that quote is rather puzzling...

That's one of Capcom's other Ryus.

Now I want an announcer yelling "JAPAN!" "ZHENG FA!" and the SE of a plane in the location selection screen in AA6.

Except without the stupid revelation of a human killer despite all the rumors of a yokai at work.

I rather enjoy this new setting. There are so many possibilities to explore, so much snowy ground to cover, and the chance that Nick gets into a confrontation with a goat is too tempting not to hope for.

On a side note, seeing as since PLvsAA, DLC is a thing, will GS6's DLC be on-disc like in Dual Destinies? If so, we might get 1 special case and a costume or 2 and that's it.

I wonder how successful the DLC for DD was? If it did well we could get actual add-on content like costumes/character replacements and cases etc. If Apollo, Athena and Trucy aren't appearing, imagine DLC that replaces Phoenix with Apollo or Athena? (Using their animations and not Nick's). I'd like that. It's sort of like changing characters, but not really. (They seem to have similar enough behaviours in Court, so it's not a stretch, unless in Japanese they have different mannerisms).

I'm actually too shocked to decide if I like this or not. I'll probably wait to play the game to decide.

This is so different from anything I could have expected that I don't even know what to say. Every little piece of info we've got has completely blown my mind.

Regarding the mysterious girl that isn't witness, prosecutor nor judge, she looks assistant age. Do you think Nick is getting yet another teenage girl to hang around with?

Well I hope they didn't spend a whole game characterizing Athena to replace her as assistant. (Yes, she was arguably more of that than Apollo was)

"Courtroom Revolution" / "Changing the system"

Isn't that kind of one of the aspects of PLvAA though? Facing an entirely new fundamentally flawed system and bringing his way of doing things to the courtroom?

I've just noticed that the water mirror looks pretty similar to the Mood Matrix: Images and text on the upper screen and the possibility to analyze them in the lower screen. They probably work with the same engine or something.

Plus AJ:AA with their Jury System. So NO, it isn't exactly new, dear Producer. Unless we'll see something completely different.

I prefer my speculation that Phoenix is DEAD and he arrived in Country of the Dead, and tried every way to go back to the living world.

DD was on a disk? I could have sworn that it was a game card.

More seriously, are you sure that the DLC wasn't a real download?

Heeeeey, they listened to me and now we can turn off hints! I swear I think Capcom is eavesdropping on me sometimes. I finally figured out what is weirding me out about this game though, this entire concept sounds like an AA spinoff, not something that belongs in the main series. Still, I'm pretty excited to see what Yamazaki's crack-fanfiction is like, not going to lie.

Hmm...i don't think everyone can gobble up the idea of male ghost being channeled by Pearl with her current costume. Funny sure, but some will get a disservice. I don't mind it though.

It wouldn't be worse than Jean Armstrong. But I don't think this Bokuto boy can channel spirits, and I really doubt he's going to join the agency just for the sake of being Athena's assistant. It's not like we've seen a lot of different spirits. It was always Mia, with only one exception in Bridge to the Turnabout.

Given that AA6 will probably be a digital-only game in the west, how can any potential DLC for it be described as "on-disc"?

Didn't Capcom attempt to do that in Apollo Justice case 4 with the Jurist system? Which they quickly abandoned because not many people liked it.

To some extend most DLC is "on-disc". The exception that comes to mind is Bioware stuff. In Dual Destinies I'm sure you could probably datamine the vanilla product for all the assets for the costume DLCs and several assets from the DLC case, but I did recall the DLC case being about 50-100mb big so it can't have been completely on-disc.

I think that's a given. DD was originally thought of many to be part of the AJAA trilogy, but it ended up continuing some AJAA stuff while basically just being its own thing. Who knows, they may surprise us.

As far as I can tell, the DLC costumes of Dual Destinies are real downloads; models and textures aren't present in the vanilla game.
As for the DLC case, all models, textures, music, videos, etc., are in the game. But not the script. The script files have to be downloaded.

Oh, I guess it's time to come back to CR again.

Um. Well.

Usually I consider myself one of the biggest Ace Attorney fans out there, but when I saw this announcement and the screenshots, my first reaction was hesitation and concern. The series has been heading steadily down a path of gimmicky-ness and I'm worried GS6 will only lead us further down that road. I'm not going to draw any conclusions until I play it, but the fact that Phoenix is still front-and-centre when really, his story is being stretched thin, is a red flag to me.

But I don't want to be a debby-downer. Does anyone know who is writing this game?

I had a bit of that fear too, but remembering DD's announcement where no Apollo was in sight and everyone was worrying, only to have Apollo appear makes me think something similar's gonna happen with this. Yamazaki's writing this one (He did Dual Destinies and the Investigations games, and I think co-wrote Apollo Justice with Takumi?)

Only Takumi is credited for writing in AA4 (see also this topic). Nothing has been said about the scenario writer(s) for AA6, but considering Yamazaki is directing, I think we can for the moment assume it'll be like previous Yamazaki-directed games with Yamazaki heading a team of both in-house and external scenario writers.

This is pretty much how I feel about it.

Now, I do think it could be fun with a new game, and I find myself more excited than I thought I'd be (mainly because of the new setting (and damn, those images look good) - could be interesting, yet again, could be a disaster, but I won't draw any conclusions either) but my initial reaction to the fact that AA6 had been anounced was pretty much "meh". I think pretty much all of the characters have played their parts. That's why I was so excited about DGS... which probably won't be localized so I'm quite disappointed.
Gimme a "P"! Gimme an "I"! Give me a "P" and an "E"! What's that spell?! Pipe!
