Your goal comes first, while I accept (and openly encourage) roleplaying, you will need to build your character around working towards that goal. Yes your character can panic, but your decisions should be made with a mindset to at least try and achieve your goal.
Also you would bear in mind that characters can have multiple conditions on victory. People should look at these as "Best endings". The True ending for your character. If something goes awry, you should still try and achieve your other objectives to salvage what you can. It won't be a "true ending" for you but you'll get points for trying.

On an only-marginally-related note, it would be a pretty awesome concept to run the same Nonary Game on two separate fora, where the different people with the same role could talk to each other and coordinate a plan and coalate results. There would probably need to be some rebalancing (for example, detectives being able to investigate twice in a round would be OP), but it would almost be like a 999-style game with different timelines and such. Or something like only the espers can coordinate.
I can only imagine how much of a nightmare it would be to coordinate though.

XD Yeah that would be a nightmare to coordinate I think I'll leave that for someone more ambitious than me. I was just really itching for a Nonary game lately.
Also FYI I'm sending out some role PMs now. It's not a cue to start I'll make an official thread for that. I'm aiming to start sometime Wednesday-Thursday and even then there will be a Day 0 period where people can get familiar with their characters, plan appearances and personalities if they like. Feel free to ask any questions about your roles in the meantime.
Also I work 4-5 days a week. So please be patient if you don't get an answer to questions immediately. If things get too hectic I reserve the right to extend phases if need be. I'm sure you'd rather the phase lasted a day longer rather than your action getting ignored because of time.

Actually I work 4 days a week as well, and I think I'm in a different time zone than many of you (Australia here) so a longer time to respond to things would be better for me.
