I would suggest waiting to play the game before developing too many opinions about the characters... But maybe that's just me. Hobohodo

I agree with that, from what I've read from the tiny spoilers I managed to get, he seems to be a gigantic prick.

He does seem like a prick, but one has to consider his motivations for being such....

And that's all I'm saying. x3

"That's My Rule."

I think they'll go with "That's a rule of mine." for the translation of this. :) (or perhaps even "That's one of my rules.") Plurality is a very tricky thing in Japanese, you have to go with the context to figure it out properly. When I was going through the game and first saw him say this, I thought to myself, "Wow, what a strange rule he has there!" However, when he said it a second time, and a third time, for different rules, I realized the word "ruuru" was referring to one of many he had. Godot

Very similar to the "iron-clad rules of Gals" in the anime Super Gals. April May

I know "That's my rule" can be taken as "one of many" also, but for some reason the phrase sounds a little funny to me. Is it just me? o.o
However, if he says "That's my policy" or something instead, it sounds proper to me. Maybe I'm just a weirdo.

Acutally, when you think about it, its like Maya saying she has a second stomach for things. :F Anyways, I hope they're going to translate GS3; Godot interests me immensely.

Godot is a prick but in a good way. Franziska was in a bad way. Edgeworth was just emo.

You can count me among the Godot fans -- I can't help but like the guy.

I'd say half of it is a combination of his character design (I mean, come on... striped vest, turquoise shirt and a VISOR? Godot) and his way of speaking, like he just stepped out of a hard-boiled film noir suspense flick. The whole package is just so over-the-top and ridiculous that it's brilliant.

The other half of it is something harder to put a finger on (and even harder to describe without spoilers.) For all of his "cool" exterior, you soon learn that deep down he's a pretty conflicted guy who also has some pretty pure emotional reactions to certain things he's experienced -- which makes him kind of easy to relate to, at least for me.

I'm looking forward to see how he comes off in the English version of GS3.

I've read the case descriptions for GS3 (I'm impatient so I got teh game spoiled). So based on that and player feedback, I surmise that he is a prick but you gotta love him. His backstory is really interesting Godot

You really need to play against a character to really get to know them well, though. Reading someone's descriptions and others' opinions on something can only give you such an image of a person, but it's only a fraction compared to actually seeing them in the game with your own eyes.

Anyway, I want to wait until I actually play GS3 to pass final judgment on the character, but I can't help but like Godot already based on secondhand information. He's certainly deeply flawed, but that's what makes him interesting to me. And I think he makes a really nice foil for Phoenix in a way Edgeworth isn't.

Wait. Oh, right. Godot appreciation.

*points at her sig and avatar* I has lots of pictures, but I doubt you'd want me to post them all, because we'd have angry Japanese fanartists leaping down my throat. I do have some for the next NEID, though. Godot

There's just something about his character design that appeals to me. He seems to command a lot of respect in the courtroom, and he's got his game together,
Spoiler:
considering he openly taunts Phoenix. And the fact that his visor ties into the story also intrigues me.

I hope Capcom doesn't pull a Megaman on us and cancel the series. *prays mightily*

Godot might be a massive prick *hurhur*, but I think that's part of what makes him so appealing. the other part is, of course, sexiness >_>

I mean, he's by far the most realistic "antagonist" character in the series so far. he doesn't get a magical everything's-fine-and-good ending like Edgeworth or Franziska, where all of his problems are resolved and he's a good person in the end. but he's also not revealed to be an evil bastard in the end, either. he's just a normal guy who...well, can't cope with his problems, but that's what makes him easy to identify with, unlike Edgey and the VonKarmas.
and I guess he's super hot, too [/fangirl]

this concludes my essay on Why I Like Godot. sorry >_>;;;

*also, I didn't count Payne in there because, well....who cares about him anyway? Godot *

"That's how I roll" would have me giggling too hard to finish a case if he used it, honestly. "That's my rule" sounds better to me.

Although there's a certain ring to having castanets clicking in the background... *shot*

Yes! But it still sounds really cool.

Although, yeah, I SO don't have the collecting different coffee thing going, heh.

But from what I know - I've spoiled waaay too much for myself these days - methinks he's gonna be something real special when the English translation rolls on out.
His interesting and, well, somewhat unfortunate background just draws you in so much more than the rest of the prosecution team.

Plus, he has charactor flaws that would make even Edgeworth seem of Karma perfection.

We want GS3...We want Godot...we want MERCHANDISE VISORS!!! Godot

Well, that's a matter of opinion. I do find Godot absolutely fascinating, but I wouldn't say he's intrinsically moreso than any of the other prosecutors--except perhaps Payne. The thing about Godot is that his story is begun and ended within a single game. Edgeworth and Franziska are still very much works in progress. Fran is really the one that got the short end of the stick in terms of the game dealing directly with "her story", so you have to sort of read between the lines. It's definitely there, though.

Sebastian Stark wrote:

Again, this is a matter of opinion. Yes, Godot has flaws, but they're so different from Edgeworth's that I don't really see the point in comparing who has more of them. And even after JFA rolls out Edgeworth v2.0, he still has obvious character flaws.

Godot's set up isn't as different from the other two as you might think, from a purely narrative standpoint. His backstory is involved, but the way it is set up is similar to how Edgeworth's and Fran's was handled. He also lacks that direct personal connection to Phoenix that Edgeworth does. But, as I tend to think of GS3 as the more Maya-centric game*, it makes sense that his connection would be directly to the Fey sisters and not Phoenix.

*All the games focus on Phoenix, Edgeworth, and Maya to some degree. GS1 was pretty well mixed, but with an emphasis on Edgeworth. GS2 was also mixed, but with an overwelming emphasis on Phoenix and Edgeworth. The GS3 is more of a Phoenix and Maya game, with only a little bit of emphasis on Edgeworth. Therefore I tend to think of the games as GS1-Edgeworth, GS2-Phoenix, and GS3-Maya.
