First, he is like little kid who does anything his manager says to him. And he´s got that stupid "You know, I can beat you at Tetris!" like, wussy smile. And he´s got an obsession of keeping his shirt up and thight, like he´s afraid that if his lawyer wouldn´t go easy on him.
Second, he is like alcoholic psycho who likes to drink five bottles a day and scratch himself. At freetime he likes to make prank calls to Corrida and Adrian so he´s just a pain in the ass and now he´s got a very annoying "You´re bitch!" like smile. Ugh!
As you see, hard evidence.

Yeah. Engarde's a sociopath, not a schizophrenic. Schizophrenia is split-personalty disorder, meaning, the sufferer can't control it. Engarde is clearly in control of his two personalities, and uses that to manipulate the people around him. That's what sociopathy is.

Matt´s sociopath started to formalize around that time when he and Corrida started to be rivals. I think that the "nice Matt" side exists to pleasure other people, like his parents wanted him to take part in swimming competitions, so Matt himself was like:"Okay, okay." So he himself wasn´t that interested in rivaling with Corrida. According this, as adult, Matt uses this "side" in work, telephone, and dealing with all other people. Like he did in the beginning of the case.
Matt´s so called "dark side" started to formalize when he was influenced by his childhood friends and other adults. For a child Matt, who has been his entire life guarded by his parents, this "other way" to deal with things seemed very attractive and interesting.
Sooner or later, he began to act like the "nice Matt" anytime in somebody´s presence. But alone or with his friends, he acted like the "real Matt", pleasuring only himself.
So, Matt was "in love" with his little "double life" until Celeste and Juan were getting married. If Celeste would have told Juan about the "real Matt", Juan would have very likely released this information to the public. If this would happen, Matt´s double living would be in danger, so Matt, to get Celeste silenced, told awful things and possibly lies about Celeste to Juan, who cancelled their marriage after hearing Matt. So Celeste, by hanging herself, saved Matt´s lifestyle. But, by leaving a suicide note, she again threatened Matt´s living.
Juan wanted to held a press conference to blacken Matt to stop their rivalry thing so Matt´s little double life was again in danger. So Matt had to get rid of Juan to secure his living. By blackmailing Phoenix with Maya as a hostage, Matt almost made sure that his lovely sociopathic life would continue after the Juan´s murder. To guarantee the continue of his life, Matt had Shelly De Killer to bring him the wooden bear after murdering Corrida to cast suspicions to Adrian Andrews.
So, by getting Inpax and Corrida silenced, Matt wanted to secure his lifestyle(as I told you earliar) but luckily, our hero Phoenix uncovered the truth and sent Matt Engarde to jail.
Finito.

One thing I have to say. You don't "start" being a sociopath. It's a personality disorder that a person is born with and it very very difficult to treat for multiple reasons.
A sociopath loves only him/herself (in the ways of humans) but they have a very strong love for anything NOT HUMAN... aka animals most of the time. And a sociopath would actually attack someone and possible kill if ever they saw an animal harmed. In most cases, that is how they figure out killing people is easy.
Sociopaths also are mostly very well mannered also. They know how to talk, they know how to pull strings.. yadayada.
