A series of explosions kill eleven and injure thirteen more in a dormitory at Ivy University. The defendant is a chemistry student. She was seen sneaking around the floor where the explosions happened, carrying a transparent container with some sort of very dark purple substance inside, about an hour before the explosions happened. She insists that the substance in question was nitrogen triiodide and that while it is explosive, it wasn't what caused the explosions.

Two men agree to perform a fake gun duel in a contest of skill. The guns they use will contain blanks, and whoever gets "shot" first loses. When the duel arrives, one of the men is shot and dies. The other man's gun is filled with five regular bullets, but he denies having shot! Could a killer from the shadows have taken the man's life? I guess no one will know.

A serial killer murders a woman, a man, four birds, an agender person, a cat and two dogs, all having some relation to twin teenage girls. Later, the police follow an anonymous lead to find the killer dead. The teenagers are arrested for the crime under the assumption that they have finally exacted revenge. Was it perhaps self-defense? Or are the girls really innocent?

A man is accused shooting the only clerk of a small market while robbing it. A security camera took a photograph of the crime, however, the "gun" the defendant is pointing at the victim is, in fact, a banana. However the defendant has gunpowder on his hands, and the bullet's ballistic markings match the gun found at the crime scene, which belongs to the defendant and has his fingerprints. Furthermore, the gun is yellow with a brown handle, making it look somewhat like a banana, and was found by the detective on a shelf in the produce aisle.

A woman attempts to make 1000 origami cranes, but oddly enough, after finishing crane number 999, she notices that she ran out of origami paper. For that reason, she leaves the house to buy new paper, but when she comes back, her house is a sea of flames. Her little daughter comes running out, obviously traumatised, and hands her a little crane made of paper: "That's your 1000th crane, Mommy." When the police finds the woman's husband, stabbed and burned, lying on something that once must have been the 999 cranes, all suspicious focuses on the little girl, but her mother swears she would never do such a thing and begs you to defend her daughter...

A maiko (apprentice geisha) is accused of murdering her onee-san (mentor in this context). It turns out that she had plenty of motive to commit the murder; her onee-san had been blackmailing her. The maiko had been performing very poorly in carrying out the activities associated with her training. In exchange for (often illegal and/or costly) favors, the onee-san agreed to help cover up the maiko's mistakes. The day before the murder, though, the maiko learned her onee-san had been sabotaging her from the start and was the real reason the training had been going so poorly. Still, the maiko insists she is innocent.

At a birthday party there is a game which's main aspect is that some of the players wear a pair of glasses which make them see everything upside-down, while others wear glasses which look exactly the same but don't change the way one sees. During the game, one person suddenly collapses with a knife stuck in their back, though nobody witnessed the moment of murder. The main suspect, a personal enemy of the victim, claims they haven't anything to with it, and the glasses make it extra difficult to get precise information from the players...

A case where every bit of information is so vague and unreliable that every contradiction results in changing just about every aspect of the trial, from the suspect, motive, witnesses, murder weapon, time, location, and even the identity of the victim, who is completely unidentifiable.

A young woman is tossed off a skyscraper's roof. Despite there are no witnesses, it's easy to tell when it happened because of her broken watch: 11:30. It's also extremely unlikely that the woman killed herself because of signs of violence on her body. On the roof, a mobile phone is found which belongs to the woman's boyfriend and bears no other fingerprints than his. Of course, the boyfriend is arrested, but he claims to have met the victim in a café at that time, alive and fine. He seems to be honestly confused about the situation, but is it even possible that he's right? And what would that mean?

At a rock concert, a group of friends loses consciousness, one by one. One of them fails to wake up and is pronounced dead after being taken to a hospital. It was originally thought that it was a simple matter of all of them overdosing on some sort of illegal drug. The band whose concert they were attending had a reputation for many of its audience members being high. However, none of the survivors claimed to be on drugs at the time. In addition, the autopsy of the victim found no signs of drugs in her system. However, evidence of poisoning was found. The suspect the police arrest was part of the group of friends, but had allegedly fallen ill the day before the concert and chosen not to attend.

At a fashion show, several models fail to show up on the runway. When someone goes to investigate, they are found unconscious, their clothes torn and stained with blood (and no, the clothes are not torn in such a way as to make them indecent). Two out of three wind up surviving. The suspect is another model who was known to be quite competitive. However, she claims to have been friends with the models, and runs away in tears. (Or at least, tries to, then is stopped by a policeman.)

There's an emergency at the bank - a heist is underway! Police are called in and manage to capture most of the robbers, but one is unaccounted for. And it seems a pile of gold bullion has gone missing as well...

A short while later, some of the employees become worried about the manager, who hasn't come down from his office despite all the commotion. The police are still around and send a few officers up to check, and they find him dead! He's lying face-down on the floor with a large wound on the back of his head - he's clearly been killed by a heavy impact from something. And lying next to him is a single gold bullion, coated in blood on one end.

The Equus family, a rich family who owns land in Japanifornia, is currently abroad on holiday, leaving their mansion in the care of a few servants. One day a cleaner walks into the guest room and is horrified to find a dead body inside! The body has a noose around its neck, but it isn't attached to anything, and for some reason it seems the victim was clutching a vase when he died. His name was Ken Mattel, and he was a male model and a good friend of the family.

Once the police begin the investigation, they discover something very peculiar. Inside the nursery room of the mansion is a doll's house, and inside one of the miniature rooms they find a doll that is lying in the same position as Ken's body, complete with noose and vase. Some other aspects about the small room catch their attention, and when they look in the similar locations at the crime scene they begin to uncover clues. This continues, even extending to other rooms in the doll's house and their correspondence with the mansion itself. The clues lead the police to arresting one of the family maids, though she claims to be innocent. It is up to you, Phoenix Wright, to uncover the truth!

A man was walking down a country lane. He was heading for the pub down at the nearby town, to meet some of his friends. However, he never arrived, and his friends grew worried. They went to look for him, tracing back the path he would have taken and came across... a single trainer, lying in the middle of the path, with smoke coming out of it. The man himself was nowhere to be found.

An underground gambling ring has taken to a rather strange form of gambling - betting on the outcomes of trials. People can bet on whether the defendant is found guilty or not, or they can make things more interesting, betting on how many days it will last, how many objections are raised, that sort of thing.

Phoenix Wright has taken on what at first seems to be a pretty ordinary case. His client has been accused of murder, the victim shot on a rooftop and then dropped off the side. However, he soon learns that his client is a better at this gambling ring, with more than just his own freedom at stake in the trial - he's made a large number of bets about how his own trial will turn out. As investigations and trial days progress, strange occurrences keep happening, seeming to manipulate the direction of events such that all of the client's predictions come true... Phoenix begins to wonder if his client is really as guilt-free as he claims. Things come to a head when a 'perfect' piece of evidence shows up that would easily prove his client's innocence, which lines up with another one of his bets. Clearly something much bigger is going on, but who's to blame for all the trickery? And is the crime itself really unrelated to all this?

Megan "Meg" Aimer, a lover of arcade games, is found dead in an arcade, slumped in front of an arcade machine. The murder appears to have occurred overnight, as the arcade owner found the body when he went to open up for the morning.

The woman was playing Snake, and it would seem she left a dying message in the game - the rather long snake she's created is shaped so as to form a name! The name is of another frequent arcade-goer, Mike Retro. It would seem the machine crashed the moment this was complete, freezing the image on screen. However, it's preposterous to think she'd have been alive long enough to achieve such a feat. And besides, the method of her murder was the same thing that caused the game to crash, as it seems her head was slammed into the console with enough force to break the machine. This would imply she left a dying message before she was killed? None of it seems to add up, and the police arrest the owner rather than Mike, who has a strong alibi anyway. However, Miles Edgeworth feels something is off, and personally takes on the case to investigate.

Meanwhile Phoenix Wright gets attacked by a snake.

A group of archaeologists are in an expedition when they come across a chest buried deep down. In it is a woman, whose DNA reveals her to be Edgeworth's mother! Fascinated by this discovery, Edgeworth takes an old case back to court to find out how his mother was truly killed, merely two years after he was born, and how she was put in a treasure box.

Turns out the forensics made a mistake in purpose because to get Edgeworth on the case. It turns out be the forensic scientist's grandfather, and that HE was in the middle of some shady dealings when he was killed. And it turns out that the killer is among them still today. Can Edgeworth find out who this killer is?

Will Powers comes under suspicion for murder after the death of a family member, who as it turns out, had named him in his will. The circumstances seem pretty clear-cut, and the case pretty hopeless, but Phoenix and co still try to solve it.

Later, he seems to find a likely suspect, but the point of view then switches to Apollo in Khura'in at the time of the murder. As it turns out, the suspect had been in a whole different continent when the murder happened!

Now, facing an apparently incredibly determined murderer in a hopeless case, but being unwilling to give up himself, and with Larry randomly appearing and being even more annoying than usual about finding love, whose will is strong enough to win the battle in a story born from a bad pun?

I’d pay to play that case

A man is killed in a library all alone on a Sunday morning. The curious thing is, there’s a clue in the books that he was reading that points to a suspect, a man who was at the scene around the time of death. However, something seems odd about this. Can Phoenix get to the bottom of this case and give it a suitable...bookend?
