"Father..." Lucine muttered, walking into the room. It's clear she doesn't actually know what to do in a situation like this, though. She just stands there and alternates between staring at her father and her grandmother.

The other family members heard unnerving wails throughout the house.

“Gloooooriiiaaaaa! Glooooriiiaaaaa! Whyyyyyyy?”

It seemed Uncle Billy was still not taking things well and had taken to running about the house in a frenzy, screaming like a maniac.

This went on for a long time until they heard a series of thumps and all was suddenly silent.

Vincent have follwed the others that went to Gloria's study. Upon hearing that Gloria had passed on, tears were pouring out of Vincent's eyes

"Dammit... Auntie Gloria... Look like we'll never get to play her favorite song..." the musician said as he tried to wipe his tears away with a sleeve of his shirt. No matter how much much he tried, the tears kept pouring regardless of his attempts to wipe them away.

Before the discovery . . .
The voices and questions continued to whirl around Zachary, but one managed to get through to him thanks to the sweet smell he noticed.

Pierre wrote:
Basil forced the doughnut into Zach's hand. "You might be in shock brother. Take a bite to eat. I'm sure you'll be fine." He handed the wet towel over to Robin and stepped aside to let her tend to his husband before standing beside Bertram and turning in Archer "Yeah, is mum ok? What's going on here?" He asked, nerves apparent in his voice.

"H-How long has that been there . . . ?" Zachary asked, still delirious. He managed to bring the doughnut up to his mouth, open his mouth, and take a small bite from it. After he swallowed, he felt a tiny bit of life return to his form. He sat there, silently munching on the doughnut for the next couple minutes.
After the discovery . . .

Zach sighed, apparently feeling much better after finishing the sugary treat. He took a look around the room and noticed many of the people had left.

"Wait, where did everybody g-oooooooooooooh . . . oh no." Zachary interrupted himself as realization dawned on him. He felt downright icy, but at least now he was lucid enough to speak coherently. "The others went to check on Mama, didn't they? I don't want to believe it's true, but I'd also never expect someone like Archer to lie about something that . . . serious.

"Mama's . . . gone . . . off to the Golden Land." Zachary spoke to nobody in particular. He sighed, still a bit too weak to show much emotion at the moment. Thank goodness he hasn't seen her actual body yet.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

"Lady Moonview is...dead?" Wyn mutters, wiping a few tears from her eyes with a handkerchief. "I...I hope she can at least be at rest now."

She then walks up to Basil and puts her hand on his back in an effort to console him. "I'm so sorry dear..."

Robin lowered her head, letting her face stay hidden from the world while she absorbed the news. She shook with the effort to compose herself before looking Zach in the eye.

"I know, honey," she choked out. "I know."

She pulled him into a hug, clinging to him as tightly as she could.

Thunder boomed outside and rattled the windows. Robin didn't react.

Basil placed a hand on Wyn's seeing she had come to comfort him when...

Upon hearing these remarks, he spun. Moving past the chair, Basil stepped in front of Mickey and pushed him towards the door "Mickey! You really think now is the time to start pointing fingers and making absurd jokes like that?! Does this REALLY look like the time or place?" He spat, livid with his upstart nephew. Sighing, he felt the tension run out of him and he turned and allowed himself to sit on the bed.

"It was...it was probably just natural causes. Mum was an old bird after all. We should...we should call an Ambulance or the Police or someone..." he muttered to himself.

[THEME MUSIC]

Archer and Bertrand round everyone up and gather them into the living room downstairs. The various couches and chairs throughout the room can only just barely fit everyone.

The tense and morose mood continues on. It seems that, for all the family drama, Gloria's death leaves them all feeling emptier than before.

Billy, Vincent, James, Violet, Asher, Lucine, Mickey, Zachary, Robin, Twilip, Maurice, Wyn, Basil, Jacqueline, Bertram, Archer, Briggs, and Allister are all piled in.

Everyone has heard the news at this point.

"...Archer, have you phoned the mainland? I fear, with this storm, we're going to be here for a while. I doubt anyone can reach us, either." Bertram said. He made no attempt at picking a lighter topic.

"Of course, Master Bertram, I will make a call right away," Archer leaves for a moment.

...

He comes back too soon after. "My apologies, Master Bertram, but it seems as if there is no tone. Perhaps the storm has damaged the line. I will look to see if there is anything we can do in the meantime"

Robin was standing behind the spot where Zachary was seated. Her hands were on his shoulders - partly for his benefit, partly to help keep herself upright. When she spoke, her voice was low, but it carried easily through the gloomy quiet anyway.

"We... need to talk about some things," she said, choosing her words carefully. "How we will pay our respects, and, um." She looked around the room. Her eyes lingered on Basil and Bertram. "If someone who - who saw her could--" she swallowed "--could tell us how she... how she died, that would..." Robin took a shuddering breath and stopped there.

"Oh, fucking great..." Vincent groaned once word got out that the line to the mainland was damaged. "My family is probably worried about me right now..."

Vincent pulls out a wallet from his back pocket before he opened it and pulls out a photo out of the wallet. Then he stares at the photo in his hand. If anyone were to look at the photo in Vincent's hand, they'd see that the photo shows Vincent with a woman, two teenager girls and a boy. This must be his family.

Lucine, sitting next to her father, stayed silent. If she was affected, she certainly did a good job of hiding it as she elegantly sipped from a teacup.

‘Mickey’ was reading the letter addressed to Forsythia. He was either reading very slowly or looking at it over and over again.

“If witches did this, then Meemah won’t be able the only person to die tonight.” He ominously proclaimed.

Robin looked to Mickey, wide-eyed and blinking.

"W- ... Witches." It was a question, but there was no inflection to her voice.

Twilip sits on one of the chairs in the living room, silently crying ever since she heard of Gloria's passing. "Why tonight?" She places her hand over her face.

She peers through her fingers in front of her, but doesn't appear to be looking at anything particular. "It could be a day or more before anyone could get here depending on how this storms lasts, so someone should..." Twilip slumps further down and simply resumes her crying, unwilling to continue her sentence.

James had been growing more and more impatient. He really wanted to know how much he would be inheriting. Whilst everyone was mourning, he snuck back into the study and began searching through all the drawers and cabinets in search of the will.

Lucine seems to actually consider that for a minute, before answering with the only flaw she could find in her brother's reasoning. "If real witches wanted all of us dead, they could have killed us already."

"Nonsense," Bertram chided Mickey. "Mother was... old. I think she knew her time was coming, though perhaps not quite this soon." He turned to Robin. "I think she simply died from natural causes. Really, we should... be happy for her. She died with all her family by her side. Even Maurice, and Vincent. Even... even Mickey. If she could talk to us from the Golden Land, she'd tell us to celebrate her life rather than grieving her death."

This was easier said than done, though. Bertram's expression was grim, perhaps because he was trying not to cry.

“Ugh give it up with those stupid ideas, Mickey. You’ll only upset people.” Basil said with a protective arm wrapped around Wyn. “Bertram has it right, mum was old, it wasn’t just her time. I just wish her last supper had been...” Basil swallowed hard unhappy that her past dinner had been fraught with distrust.

“In any case, if the phones are out we’ll just need to...call in the morning or something like that.” He looked down over the rest of his family “We should...we should just go to bed and...try and sleep. We can’t do anything else just now.” He said clinging to Wyn.

Maurice had just about repressed his silent rage towards James and was now in the corner of the room, quietly brooding over what had happened.

JesusMonroe wrote:

Maurice stepped over to Mickey, looking at the letter to see its contents. Upon examining it, he looked away in disdain. "...Are we proclaiming witches are real now? Really?" He shook his head, walking back to where he was before. "Mother was... quite aged, to say the least. Her passing is quite sudden, as we can all agree, but I find it ridiculous to accuse "witches" of all things for this. So are these magical creatures just hiding someplace in this manor? Preposterous." He scoffed.

Billy looked more or less fine, other than the comically large bump on his head. He calmly pressed it back down into his head before speaking.

“Geez, this such let-down,” Billy mumbled, “Of all rich families to be part of, it turns out to be one with evil witch enemies. And now phone line broke too. I hope Auntie Frank be okay without me.”

“Seems like party pretty much over too,” he sighed, putting his head in his hands. “Might need to go back home tomorrow morning...Not sure if welcome here anymore.”

"Word, Maurice." Vincent replied as he continues to look at the family photo in his hand. "It was probably someone's idea of a prank. Auntie Gloria's stories about witches are just a bunch of nonsense!"

Archer hangs his head. "It's regrettable what happened... Milady Gloria, at the very least, seemed to have passed on peacefully."

Archer adjusts his tie and nods at Basil. "Once the storm passes, I am confident that we will be able to call for some authority. For now, I believe we should keep Milady Gloria's room locked..."

"If any one of you decide to return to your rooms, please do not hesitate to call for one of us servants to care for you."

Glorias personal belongings lay scattered across the study floor. Various documents have been searched and upturned.

James rattles another drawer open.

Inside is a copy of Gloria's will in a sealed Manila envelope. Bingo.

As soon as he found the will, he quickly stuffed the envelope into his pocket. "Finally," he muttered as he walked back to his room. It was time to do a bit of late-night reading.

She looks down as if ashamed of what she just said. "We don't know how long this storm will last so it's probably for the best if mother if moved somewhere she won't..."

"This is depressing, man... First, the family gathering got so warped and now Auntie Gloria's passing... God...." Vincent said as he quietly stuffs the photo back into his wallet, which he puts back in his back pocket. "I think... I think I need to jam out on my guitar before I get some sleep."

"Perhaps we should wait until morning before deciding," Bertram said. "If the storm shows no sign of letting up even then, well, we'll have to do what's necessary... But otherwise, I too would like to leave her at peace."

Archer's new title for him spurred him into weary action. As family head, it was his duty to take care of everyone now, or so he believed at least. "How are you all holding up? Lucine, I'm proud of you, you know. It can't be easy for you right now, but you are handling this situation well. As befitting of my heir."

"Let her rest..." Basil said gripping Wyn's arm tightly "I don't think I could bear to really see her again like that so soon, nevermind move the body." He shook his head "No I...I think I'll retire for the night. We can talk more in the morning." he said patting Wyn's arm and relaxing with her smile. "Right...yes...everything will still be alright." He looked down at his children "You two...I'm sorry you had to see your Gran like that. Please just...I'll need some peace tonight, I'll see you both in the morning." he said, struggling to get each word out.

"Of course, Milady." Archer, picking up the teapot and approaches Lucine's glass. As he delicately pours, those with good ears would hear a faint "clink," the sound of something hitting the plate.

Archer then smiles. "Would you like some cream and sugar?" He asks, despite probably already knowing the answer after years of service.

"Such concerns like that should be taken up with the head of the Moonview family." Archer replies, without even turning to face Briggs.

"You might be in some trouble. I doubt the new Head has any interest in keeping around lackluster servants..." Archer lets out a soft chuckle.
