Origins: Rocktra came about from Kyouya being around Kirihito for so long- sort of like an infection caused by Kirihito/Sadistress being "infused" with the Power Perfect. As I see it, Rocktra showed up after Sadistress. Maybe Rocktra first "erupted" when Sadi was bullying Kyouya?
Now, maybe this is just my odd interpretation, but I see Rocktra as being of a slightly different nature than Sadistress. Rocktra seems to be more of a "second conscience" (ie. she tends pop out and blurt whatever Kyouya's thinking at the time) than Sadistress is. (Sadi isn't so much what a representative Kirihito is thinking as she is a method of stress release or some business like that.) I'm well aware that that doesn't explain where G-Girl and whatnot come from- maybe when Rocktra had control for a little too long?
As for why Rocktra fights alongside Sadistress... I think it's probably because of intimidation. In my mental drafts, Sadi bullies Rocktra A LOT. Maybe a combination of intimidation and brotherly/sisterly love?

And I don't think this would be of any use, but here are a few older!Pearl and older!Cody doodles.
Spoiler: This is slowly becoming my new favorite OTP. Srsly.
I had the idea that Pearl and Cody would be like a love/hate relationship.
Cody is your class bad boy/lazy/arrogant rocker guy while Pearl is the quiet/smart/bookworm/helpless romantic new girl.
Cody of course teases Pearl calling her "stupid", "idiot" or "pretzel-head". Pearl dispises Cody from the start because of his behavior and finds him a nuisance. But as time passes they gradually begin to warm up to each other and eventually become friends...and perhaps something more.

I'm starting to dislike my "lolforms" idea, or maybe my style just isn't suited for a character like Super Makoto. We need to make more of a nod to the "magical girl" genre and I feel your design, LySs, would be a great jumping-off point for that.

- Pulsar Adrian's new suit - Adrian was sorely in need of a design change when I realized that her blue leotard, blonde hair, and glasses made her frighteningly indistinguishable from Sadistress! Taking a cue from her GS3/TNT incarnation (and Tron), her suit has been changed to black with glowing blue strips. Now you can really see light and energy pulse throughout her body!
- Dahlia concepts 1 - Dahlia concepts 2 - Attempting to take cues from Emma Frost (aka the White Queen of Marvel comics), Dahlia's design is still going though the conceptual phases. Cloaks, corsets, and such are the order of the day, but Dahlia's diminuitive and slim frame are a challenge to accessorize without overshadowing.
- Daian is the Hairaiser - Introducing our newest villain! Daian Mayudzuki's hair does more than look ridiculous (and launch itself like a rocket), he can transform it into a literal weapon!
- Name and Pose - HAIRAISER. It just doesn't get cheesier than that.
- Cheesy Lines - Okay, maybe it does. Here are some really bad puns and cheesy lines for Hairaiser's opening taunt.
- Super mode (w/ Lydia) - Taking the hair concept a little too far, Hairaiser is covered in hair armor, but how many shapeshifting tentacle blacknesses can there be in one superhero universe?
- GREAP attack - Borrowing from Super Smash Bros Brawl, the Hairaiser whips out a double-bladed GREAP attack.
What was Lydia doing cosplaying in the second-to-last picture? She was doing what she does best: cosplaying. A novice superhero with debatable efficacy, Lydia is hyperactive and indecisive, constantly switching outfits and movesets as she tries to find what kind of superhero identity would fit her best. Often she ends up mimicking existing supers, and this can land her in all kinds of trouble... such as when she's implicated as the suspect in a high-profile case!
Enter Kyouya Garyuu, brave prosecutor and pursuer of truth and justice. A "real life hero," Kyouya has always taken his job as a prosecuting attorney seriously, but for a long time something has been troubling him... he has gained the ability to transform into Rocktra and wield unique superpowers! Unable to reconcile his dual identity, he has kept it a secret from everyone, especially his overbearing brother, Kirihito. Upon hearing that the defendant in this case is in fact a "superhero" herself, he becomes curious...
Another day, another trial, another turnabout. The diligent Kyouya unveils the truth and proves Lydia's innocence, while dragging out the real culprit. He befriends Lydia and immediately begins questioning her about what it means to be a superhero, eventually able to apply himself as a hero not just in the courtroom, but also in battle against supervillains.
Lydia eventually discovers that cosplaying is her superpower, and by donning different costumes she can take on entirely different attitudes and powers. Still as ADHD as ever, though, she chooses a different costume each night when she goes out to help her fellow superheroes, but it's not always the right one for the job...

- New Design for Chinami/Dahlia - One Two - Her shawl has evolved into a cloak/poncho, her light pink palette recalling the image of an innocent little girl. Revealing herself, however, shows her true nature - the upper part of her skirt shifts to red, like a bloodstained apron, and her corset top is striped red and black. She wears the Red Magatama she "acquired" from Mia in Bolginia, and also hides a blade inside her parasol.
- The Forgotten Tower - Originally done for shits and giggles, this vignette takes a quote from Diablo II that describes the fate of one particularly vile Countess. This invited others to contemplate the idea of Chinami being Really Seven Hundred Years Old, like some ancient evil that was locked up inside the earth beneath Hazakurain. But what does that make her twin sister, Ayame/Iris? Just a concept to think about...
- Notes on Repast - Just sketching out Repast's anatomy. Decided to make his one wing more arm-like, such that it acts much like a third arm or prehensile tail, as well as a vestigial wing. Using that and his left arm, he can clamber over obstacles easily while shielding himself with his right. Neat, huh?
- Vengeance is all that remains - I gotta admit, Shadow Cell looks a lot more like Solid Snake than he does Simon Fisher. And if we go with the localised name of Diego Armando, we're gonna have a Hispanic ninja on our hands. That would be fucking awesome.
- Xel'lotath's Black Guardian - It was late at night and I wanted to have a shot of Takita taking potshots at a giant monster (you know, stepping in to be the hero when he shouldn't). I was strapped for ideas and decided to use Urami/Viola as the summoner of a Black Guardian from the Eternal Darkness video game for Nintendo Gamecube. Hardcore!

- Venom Redd by MSOB - Here's where it gets interesting. I'm now playing with the idea that Venom is actually a manifestation of Manfred von Karma's Power Perfect. He can use it to corrupt and conquer other beings. Unable to influence Earth directly, he dropped the Black Nail Polish into Makoto's lap in the hopes that she would become his agent of destruction. Here, we see Redd using the power granted him by Emperor von Karma. He's invincible now... or is he?
- Makoto Corrupted by MSOB - Here's where it gets REALLY interesting. After the first manifestation of Venom Makoto, Makoto discovers that she can still use the power of the Black Nail Polish. By invoking it in small doses, she can temporarily become superpowerful, but using it too much or for too long will lead to it attempting to "corrupt" her system again, and she will slowly lose her free will. At this point she needs the help of her friends to shake her out of it (by force or by reasoning). Yes, this concept is stolen straight out of Metroid Prime 3. Deal with it.
- Meeting of Shadows by MSOB - Is she named Urami or Viola? Either way, it's not her -real- name, as she is really an extradimensional entity from a dark realm. Here she has summoned (been visited by?) a fellow darkling by the pseudonym of Joe... If you ask them what they're talking about, the response would be "Not for you to know, mortal."
- Neon Makoto by MSOB - Using LySs' design again.
- CosStar - MSOB, Minuki, Yuu-chan - HERE COMES A NEW CHALLENGER. After finally discovering her "true" power as a hero-mimicking, er, superhero, Lydia becomes CosStar. Always armed with her luggage full of magic costumes, she's ready to take on nearly any challenge. These are only basic concepts at the moment.
- CosStar in Cow Costume by Minuki - It was bound to happen.
- Eccentrist Mech Pilot - Yuu-chan drew the mech, MSOB drew the Eccentrist. What, isn't a mad scientist allowed to kick a little ass every now and then? In any case, this is the giant robot Eccentrist pulls out when people are less than forthcoming with the supply of moonrocks to keep Moonlight Angel alive.
- Design notes for Eccentrist - Yuu-chan drew up the clothing beneath the white suit of the Eccentrist. Aiga takes on a darker tone with the red shirt and black vest. His monocle is built-in with technology that lets him track, analyze, and scan his targets and surroundings.
- The Young Mask by Yuu-chan - The Old Mask by MSOB - Yuu-chan decided on a color scheme for SMako's Mask*DeMasque superhero, as well. Unfortunately, his svelte, athletic self will rarely be seen in SMako's main story... what you'll get to see is the broader beer-belly Mask, and his beloved bottle of booze.
- Eccentrist busts out a mech again by Gigafreak - As a stopgap measure, the Eccentrist puts Moonlight Angel into a... hamster ball... to prevent her from coming to any further harm while she is weakened. He then proceeds to stomp about town looking for moonrocks.
- The Final Battle by MSOB - Again, ripped out of Metroid Prime 3. Breaking into the Super Dimensional Fortress of Emperor Manfred von Karma, Makoto must face Manfred in his ultimate form. The Emperor is allowed a monologue, of course - he dreams of "a universe devoid of color... of imperfection!" (Recommended listening for atmospheric effect - Rundas Battle - Metroid Prime 3)

- Moonlight Angel makes a last stand - Every hero faces a battle that looks like it could be their last.
- Super Makoto "Quetzal" costume - Not as rainbow colored as the serpent of legend, I attempted my own take on the magical girl theme we all agreed upon. I failed horribly.
- Super Makoto "Wing" costume - Exaggerated ribbon FTW
- Young Mask - Ron in his black/green getup design for SMako.
- Meet the Mask - Makoto and Yuu go looking for the retired superhero Mask*DeMasque, and upon finding his house, mistake Mareka to be Mask's secret identity. Ron would get up and say something but his beer can is still half-full.
- Super Makoto for Nintendo DS - Just a silly idea I came up with. The DS, held book-style lets the player use the touchscreen as a sketchpad while moving Makoto around in the topscreen (using either the D pad or ABXY).
- Moonlight Angel mechsuit - When short on celestial power, MA dons a mechsuit designed by the Eccentrist.
- Yuu's Super Makoto design - A new magical girl costume for Super Makoto. Trés chic.
- The Guildmaster attacks - Sal Manella calls his crew into action.

She unleashes the last bit of her power, revealing that the Venom inside her body had been transmuted by her power: it's not true black, it's a black formed by all colors combined! Von Karma is powerless to resist the colorful onslaught.

We haven't quite found how to fit Morgan into the storyline (the Feys play a major role, of course). As it stands, those of the Fey bloodline are supposedly inheritors of some great power, a good portion of which (or the secret to it) is sealed inside three Magatama. Dahlia killed Mia for one of these, and is now seeking Maya and Pearl to gain the other two pieces. Once she attains the complete power of the Magatama, she plans to ascend and unite with the evil Emperor Manfred von Karma. If you have any ideas on this front, let me know.
Dee Vasquez will probably be reserved for a "generic villain" slot much like Repast, the Guildmaster, and Hairaiser, rather than being deeply involved with the overarcing storylines. Again, if there are any ideas out there for what kind of supervillain Dee could be, send them in.
For now, I'd like to turn people's attention to the new features of the website.
- The Character Gallery - This is actually a rough form of the Character Gallery - when it is completed, each character portrait will be flanked by links to the character's profile and their art page.
- Character Profile - This is a bare-bones character profile. As you can see, it retains much of the same setup as the previous version. We're still missing a lot of profiles, and a lot of them need to be localised for T&T standards - hop to it, people!
- Art Page - In the future, each character will have an individual art page featuring all the art that features them (solo and groupshots). The art is seperated into three categories - illustration, sprites, and oekaki. More will be added as necessary.

We haven't quite found how to fit Morgan into the storyline (the Feys play a major role, of course). As it stands, those of the Fey bloodline are supposedly inheritors of some great power, a good portion of which (or the secret to it) is sealed inside three Magatama. Dahlia killed Mia for one of these, and is now seeking Maya and Pearl to gain the other two pieces. Once she attains the complete power of the Magatama, she plans to ascend and unite with the evil Emperor Manfred von Karma. If you have any ideas on this front, let me know.

- The Character Gallery - This is actually a rough form of the Character Gallery - when it is completed, each character portrait will be flanked by links to the character's profile and their art page.
- Character Profile - This is a bare-bones character profile. As you can see, it retains much of the same setup as the previous version. We're still missing a lot of profiles, and a lot of them need to be localised for T&T standards - hop to it, people!
- Art Page - In the future, each character will have an individual art page featuring all the art that features them (solo and groupshots). The art is seperated into three categories - illustration, sprites, and oekaki. More will be added as necessary.
Morgan could be the evil geisha, who is also looking for the shards. Kinda like Sheena Fujibayashi and Colette Brunel in Tales Of Symphonia: See, both wanted to save their worlds, Colette goes to the seals, and Sheena follows pursuit to kill her. Get it? So Morgan could want the other shards... And she already has killed Elise and Bikini...!

I, unfortunately, lack any kind of artistic talent, so I'm not sure how I might contribute, but take my admiration anyway.
A couple random Dahlia/Chinami/Iris ideas:
If you wanted Dahlia to be Really Seven Hundred Years Old, she might be (probably in spectral tentacle hair form) a psychic manifestation of the bitterness of the branch family, who tend to be weaker in Magatama based power than, and thus suboordinate to, the branch family. Iris might be somehow possessed by Spectral!Dahlia, perhaps as one of Morgan's plots. Ex: A union with Emperor von Karma and one of her offspring seems like something Morgan would want (increasing the clan's power and influence), so she allowed Dahlia to possess Iris and go hunting the Magatama pieces to increase her prospects in the eyes of the Emperor. Spectral!Dahlia for her part, wants to possess th resultant child and thus have both Fey power (which is psychic in nature?) and the Power Perfect.
Another shorter idea, without the 700 year old bit: What if the reason no one has attempted to gather all the pieces of the Magatama together before was that possessing more than one's "birth share" not only gave increased power, but also caused proportional insanity?
Dahlia and Iris could then be Morgan's twins, but with Dahlia having the powers for both, and thus being insane, and constantly wanting more power. She would go about getting this by killing all the other Feys as outlined, and attempting to steal a bit of the Power Perfect in uniting with von Karma Sr. Morgan is the same as above and willing to go along with this for glory, power, or (insert alternate reason).
Hopefully, these are moderately interesting and that I didn't miss any huge features of SMakoto already established in spawning them.

I think we'll actually be going with a mortal Dahlia, rather than a spectral one.
Involving Morgan in the plot is a great idea, but I think her level of machination far outstrips Dahlia's - enough to earn her a slot next to von Karma. Wouldn't you agree? Especially since she "uses" her daughters for her own ends (possibly could give us space to explore the sisters' relationship with each other?).

As for Iris, I though of her being much as she is in regular PW, a restraining influence on Dahlia, and the only one for whom Dahlia really feels any attachment. I envisioned at least one part of the Makoto & Friends battle where Dahlia charges up some super attack of DOOM after everyone is exhausted from fighting her (with appropriate cheesy finishing lines) but hesitates for a moment when (pick a character, but probably Godot) hurls Iris in front of her path. This momentary pause is then enough for some form of power perfect counterattack to be launched.
Also, there's the problem of how to integrate Dahlia and her general nastiness into the "magical girl" genre, where villains are either not irredeemably evil, totally evil such that they have no humanity at all (von Karma) or giant tentacle monsters (at least I think that's how MG anime generally works). That's part of why I like the "Fey power may cause insanity in high doses" idea, because if Makoto, uses the HAX of the Power Perfect to remove Dahlia's powers, you get a MG happy-ish ending as the sisters can "reunite" now that Dahlia is sane. which fits SMako's lighter tone fairly well.

Right now we're headed towards having Morgan masterminding alongside Manfred, thus putting her at a position above Dahlia (pulling her strings, and Iris' too). This also opens up the opportunity of Morgan playing the "mommy card" when it comes to Pearl, possibly turning her against her friends in some manner (probably indirect manipulation rather than a cheesy turncoat scenario).
So Morgan instructs Dahlia to gather the three Magatama from their holders... Somewhere along the way she bungles the job and Pearl disappears with her piece (later discovered she was raised by the Steel Samurai). Very soon after, Dahlia succeeds in killing Mia and taking hers. Maya disappears some years later.

I never intended for this thread and project to become so inactive, but the past months have seen me making some adjustments to life in our new house. That and I've been having yet more PC problems!
I plan to focus on doing more art and writing in the coming spring, though, and plenty of it!
