Judging by recent screenshots, it appears that Kyo...Klavier...will burst out into German mid-sentence. I personally think this will ruin his badass attitude, but i'll have to wait and see how it works out.

Also, Chords of Steel voice workout? The Hell?

And why does Apollo sound even more gruff and badass in an in-game video?

I don't think it will be any problem. Besides, if he's going to be German born, might as well make him shout out German phrases at random!

They didn't make Manfred or Franziska wax Deutsche. This is just a massive departure.

You also have to wonder how eloquent Kristoph will end up being...

You have to keep in mind those screen shots are from an European site. I'm probably wrong, but I think they could be still be ironing out the translations at this point. Remember, the Von Karmas are Germans in the English version and neither of them used German talk.

I'm hoping they keep his Germanic side. It's nice to have some culture other than American culture (which isn't even its own culture anway ripping things off from other countries). I'm tired of all these ethnically diverse characters being Americanized into oblivion.

The Von Karma's are Germanic? Why don't they have the awesome dialects? Why isn't Godot/Armando peppering his speech with Spanish? Is Edgeworth English or American? WTF god dammit Capcom, make up your minds already! >_< I'll wager Masaka will have a Russian name but be completely devoid of anything relating to Russian descent.

I say that because you don't see Kristoph peppering German words into his sentences.

Cause it´s simply unusual to do that, especially when you want to make serious buisness ;) And i also think it´s pretty clear why the von Karma´s don´t have this accent.
The way Klavier talks to the court makes him look somehow careless to me, he doesn´t seem to take the situation serious (judging from the screens we have so far)

Someone has to explain me the need to change an already existing english version ;)

But was Klavier serious in the Japanese version? I haven't played it so I dunno how much of a playboy he was in that to compare.

No, Kyouya in Japanese was not very serious XD;;;. He air guitared in court, after all.

Originally Kyouya was raised in America (though having a very Japanese name) and used a lot of English in court. It's all over his song lyrics, too--it's part of his gimmick. I'm pretty sure he cut it out whe he was being serious, though.

Kristoph didn't use any English in the game that I remember, so there's no reason for him to blurt out German in the American version.

All he says is 'amigo'. Anyone can say that. At some more variety, geez!

Also, for some reason the only person I can see as using German in a serious manner is Kristoph. He just has that, "Ve fuck you up now, ja?" look to him.

But Apollo's badass sexy manly voice is soooooo hot. I doubt the kiddo(Kyouya) will speak German. Wait, he's German? Or is he? He's German in Germany, unless he is a foreigner, that would mean he isn't German in Germany but could still be German somewhere else..

The demo should only be the first case, so you wouldn't hear Klavier's objection.

Spoiler:
But you should be able to hear Kristoph's. The Japanese demo does go far enough for that, I think.

Considering Franziska's German and she didn't sound German, I doubt Klavier will either. Then again, Franziska didn't speak the occasional German, so it could have Objection with a German accent.

XDDD German is a tough language, why wouldn't he sound badass splurting it out at random. Tis sexy <3

But unless they decide to change, him and Kiri will end up just like the von Karmas.

Also they probably didn't put the German words and accents of the von Karmas into the game due to the people with poor reading skillz. Thats what I think anyway, I'd love to see it written that way like in Hellsing, where they right it all out as it would be pronounced by someone with a german accent, that would be more authentic.

Klavier... sounds so... uhhh... I can't even describe it! When I see that I think of Kalvin.

All the name meaning things confuse me, the japanese put more thought into name meanings then westerners, so when it translates over here it sounds so funky, I'm all up for names that SOUND right if they're gonna change them, like Armando or Miles, or Manfred or Damon. Heck there are probably kids named Phoenix out there, but Apollo? Trucy? Klavier? I doubts it (eh, there probably is an Apollo somewhere)

I think his random German is pretty awesome, to tell you the truth. ANd like Croik said, it parallels with him speaking English in the Japanese version.

And am I the only person in the world who is not bothered by the name Klavier? I like it a lot.

Lawyers in Germany would address a judge as "Herr Richter", so it can't really be seen as too awkward or clichéd.

Regarding in-game language, it could also be argued that since Manfred and Franziska (and Kristoph?) are portrayed as perfectionists, it would be in their nature to speak perfect English. Manfred had a deep, German-sounding "Objection!" anyway. :karma:

And I, for one, welcome our new Teutonic prosecutor. :kyouya: From a purely objective viewpoint, it gives his character more substance.
