The fanwork I've seen of them on the Japanese fansites does not seem to be like this at all (but then, I haven't read any of the numerous doujinshi that portray it). So I guess I can say it's a pairing I hate because I don't like the way people portray it.ETA: Instead of making a second post for my other disliked pairings, I'll just add them. The ones I'm posting here are ones that don't work for me, not that I find gross. There are some I find gross but can totally see, which are for another time.
/ . I grant their shippers' evidence, but I read it as a different kind of love than anything romantic. All right, the Maya/Ema is not popular. I put that one by mistake (I still hate it though). But please don't tell me you don't see White/Grossberg all over the place? If you ask what pairing is good for Grossberg, many times people put White/ Grossberg (apparently because of the blackmailing, but I don't understand it).

It's because in the first game when questioning Grossberg you have the option to suggest that he and White were lovers. It's funny--I think a lot of people "support" it because it's a joke, not necessarily because they think they'd be a great couple.

/ , / -I just can't see either of these happening. As I believe has been stated before, Edgeworth is in no real position to start having a deep relationship. Phoenix-well, as much as some cases have made me doubt, I just haven't seen any real proof to show me that he's gay. Which also goes for Gumshoe and Edgeworth-Gumshoe is more of a "faithful fan" of Edgeworth than a love intrest, and Edgeworth...I haven't seen any proof of his sexuality at all. So, as far as I'm concerned on these couples, I just think of them all as asexual. Which makes it hard to make them anything but friends to me. At a stretch.Other than that, I'm not really opposed to any couple, speaking from an author's POV. Any pairing, theoretically, can be proven to a point of where other people would believe it, therefore, making it a "legitimate" pairing (to me, at least). However, some pairings (like the ones, other than Mia/Diego, that I've listed above) have such large flaws (once again, to me) that they can't be ignored or countered, therefore making them not "legitimate". In my own, obviously ranting, rambling opinion.

To get on topic, my least favorite would probably be

Edgeworth does have some lines towards Maya that could be interpreted affectionately, but those probably stem from his inherent awkwardness with people (Phoenix being present probably doesn't help either). Maya doesn't express much love towards Edgeworth either and why would she? Her first impression of him was him trying to convict her of murder!

/ ) and finally, the absolute random pairings that, though have some sort of base behind them, aren't really hinted as a possibility in the game, and USUALLY become the pairings of fanfics ( 
/ , and of course, one of my favorite pairings in fanfiction, CFTF's / ).Sure, maybe all of them can, to SOME degree, become romance-based fanfics, and luckily (and sometimes unfortunately) some of them do. However, with the numerous possibilities, it's impossible to judge these pairings as all, 100% "romantic"... until a fanfic is made of each, then the previous statement suddenly becomes useless. lol.
STILL haven't decided on my LEAST-favorite pairing though, given the examples of "pairing types" above.
I wonder if that answers CFTF's question thoroughly. lol.
