I hope this is the right forum for this since it's somewhat of another type of introduction, but Croik can move it if she wants.

I'm actually interested in how all of us came to become fans of the series.

My story: I didn't get a DS till Nov '05 and the first game I was interested in was Jump Superstars. I heard of PW at the time, but really didn't pay attention to it. Near the end of August of '06, I got a G6 Lite flash card and copied over the PW rom over to it so I can burn time away at a party. The first case was alot of fun and it was actually the 2nd case that made me become a big fan of the series. I started the 2nd case around 9pm the first night I played and didn't sleep until I finished it at midnight.

After beating the game in 2 weeks, I learned it was a rare item so I immediately snatched it up for $29.99 at a local gameshop and repeated the game again. After that I discovered this site and noticed that GS4 and JFA were already announced. Since I'm a collector, I went on a massive ebay/playasia binge and got the 3 GBA games and the best price GS:YG. I got the DS GS2, then the US JFA, and now I got the GS4 special edition on pre-order. Sal

I have to admit it's been hard for me to really get into games in the past few years since the majority of them are just sequels of older titles that I like with very little innovation or new things added. However, PW won me over with it's brilliant storytelling, compelling twists, memorable characters, and most of all, it's excellent music. I would definitely say that PW's music is some of the best new school gaming music and definitely worthy of being on my top 10 list of game music. Plus PW revived the point and click adventure game genre which has been dead since the old lucasarts PC games. It's been a long while since I've felt really geniunely attached to a new game series. Acro

So big thanks to capcom for making a series that I can genuinely get into rather than "I gotta own the latest cool game because everyone has it". PW's definitely another worthy series to the capcom greats like Megaman, Street Fighter, and Resident Evil. I've never spent this many late hours into the night wanting to know what happens next!

Post your stories everyone! Will Powers

I got Trauma Center then thought that I couldn't get one of the DS's 'occupation games' without getting another.
My mom got into the series when I showed it to her.

Basically, I'd heard about this game on various forums, and was quite interested in it. I got my DS in late '05, but then found that I couldn't find the game anywhere. So I picked up some other games for then.

A year passes, and I still haven't found it. One day, completely out of boredom, I log on to the Gamestop site and search my location for stock, with a 200 mile radius. I find they have one 80 miles away, in the town in which my cousin lives, whom we were planning to visit the very next week!

A week later, we're up there, I walk into Gamestop, buy the game, a nunchuk for my Wii, and a car power adapter for my original DS. For $3. Because my DS was nearly dead, and I wanted to play so badly on the way home that night. I guess I found PW:AA from the reprinting. I was a bit hesitant to buy it, because, while I love adventure games, it just seemed a bit...odd. But I took the plunge, spent the money and...

Probably a week later, I've beaten PW:AA and am completely obsessed. I then proceed to preorder, play, and beat JFA in the coming months. And now here I am, waiting for more news on GS4 and impatiently waiting for Capcom to announce their localization of GS3. Damon

Short version: Internet.

Long version: Heard about it from a friend who heard about it on the internet. After my friend got & beat the first game, I borrowed it from him. Same with the second, actually...

Nintendo Power :P It's hard to believe it hasn't even been a full year since I played PW1, it seems like soooooo long ago! I rented it from Gamefly, and for some reason showed up 4 days later then other games in a beat-up envelope. But the wait was worth it Redd White Turns out, it's a good sign when a game shows up late from Gamefly, as it only happens with masterpieces. Elite Beat Agents showed up almost a whole week later then most games, and that game is GODLY!!!

I heard about this game in 05 from Nintendo Power. Needless to say, I had to get it ASAP.

After searching SO many stores, one night in December of 05 I came across AA in I believe a Gamestop. It was brand new too. :D

Needless to say, I purchased it, and I've been hooked since. :3

Mmm... I had heard of the game, but wasn't too keen on actually purchasing it.
Then I watched a few of those Phoenix Wrong flash animations and a friend of mine recommended it to me.

Needless to say, I got hooked ^^'

I think I heard of it first on G4-Tech TV (maybe a preview on X-Play?). For some reason it really caught my eye. A month or so later I got a trailer disc in my Nintendo Power with the PW Trailer on it. I kept watching it over and over and showing it to all my friends. It just had some weird appeal to me. XD I got it in early December for my good-grades present. And ever since I've been buying more and more merch. >>;

One day we were having elections for new leaders in my after school Japanese culture club. We were using a big projector to flash words behind the candidates while they were speaking. After they finished we didn't have anything else to do so we just started chatting and left the projector up. Suddenly our techie was like "Hey everybody! Watched this!" and proceeded to blast the first Phoenix Wright trailer through the projector at full volume, resulting in an entire classroom wall of virtual lawyer OBJECTION! action. Naturaly, me and everyone else in the class was completely "WTFLAWYERSis that one wearing pink...??!" 0_______o. I thought it was fake at first. XD

Then I Went home, did some research, bought the game, became totally obssesed, and...here I am. Phoenix

I saw it at EB Games one day when I was shopping there; I'd been reading about it a few times before in the previous weeks, but it wasn't on my "HOMG MUST HAVE" list.
I read the back of the case and KNEW I totally had to get it- so I asked for it for Christmas. >>"

I played that game the MOST that year! :D

hmm... well lets see. first of all, i got my ds in 05 cause my gba sp broke and wouldnt charge and i thought itd be a good excuse to go ahead and upgrade!!! as for phoenix wright, i think it was around early 06 when i saw a girl in my choir class playing it. she kept on talking about how cool it was and all and i begged and begged to let her lend it to me so i could try it, but she never did. after much begging, i realized, heck, i should just buy it myself.

sadly though, by the time i realized that, i realized it was almost christmas and thats when i decided that i could get for free by asking for it for christmas. well, long story short, i got it for christmas and got too much of a unhealthy addiction over the game since then.

I somehow stumbled into the series by a stroke of luck. Back in October of 2005, when Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney, was just released. I bought myself a copy of Phoenix Wright while it was still available, and the rest was history.

It went like this.

Proto's browsing EB Games at the mall.
Proto: Oh, what's this game? *picks up last copy of PW* Interesting! Looks pretty cool. I'll buy it!
Store Clerk: Last copy of the game! Here you go! All yours!
Proto: Yay!

Well, it all started when my friend showed me his DS and EBA - I was immediatly hooked. I went three towns over to get my hands on a DS because they were always sold out and so hard to find. After beating EBA I was looking for more DS games, and I noticed that Trauma Center and JFA were getting high reviews, but I didn't want to start a series midway. Trauma Center and AA were no longer being sold in my area, so I ordered both off Amazon. I started Trauma Center first, but it wasn't quite to my liking. So I tried AA and after the first case I was immediatly addicted. I finished the game in one weekend then got the second one. Now I'm buying doujin and writing fanfiction! I even just got my hands on a PW promo pack of goodies. It's a rather rabid addiction! I think PW tops every other fandom on my list now, and I've only been part of it for a month!

I was interested in the series when a website (maybe IGN?) did a small report on the then-Japan-exclusive series circa early 2004. I was moderately interested thereafter, and when I heard it was coming over, I simply sat around and waited to get it on launch day, though when the time came to get it I was lacking the funds (parents + money troubles = stealing my wallet >_>; ), and I couldn't find it thereafter, so BP mulled around and found a copy for me around Christmas. Ironically, that's what lead him to get interested, too. Soon after I found CR and the rest is history.

Blademaster Orca got me into it after I got it for him for Christmas when it first came out. He loved and basicallty forced me to try it and I got my own copy as soon as I finished with his. He then showed me CR and the rest is history.

Because I did not get a DS near launch, I spent a lot of time drooling over DS previews. Although they are second nature to us now (the DS and Wii have been host to tons of them at this point), back near the DS launch Japan's "alternative" games like Trauma Center and Gyakuten Saiban still seemed very foreign to me. I thought they were interesting, they just had a feeling of "That's Japan's kind of thing, games aren't like that over here". When I finally got my DS and was frequently keeping an eye out for new games to compliment my system, I remember running into Phoenix Wright with surprise. I remember thinking, "Hmm, America is actually getting these kind of things now". The game did not interest me right away so I passed it up. However, soon the immense cult following gripped me and I felt like I needed to see what all the commotion was about. Unfortunantly by this point I was unable to find the game anywhere. I kind of forgot about PW for a while after that. When I learned about the Justice for All release I thought I could finally get into the series. I bought JFA soon after it was released and was instantly hooked. After I completed JFA I hunted down the original on the Internet and bought it as well.

I wanted to start AA but could never find it so I got JFA on the first day it came out. It got hoooked to it staying up to six in the morining playing it.

Then by luck a guy just trades in aa while I go to the game store so I get it.

A while before it came out/I got it, (I forget when this was absolutely) I was looking on GameFAQs and saw the title of this game. It caught my eye because Phoenix Wright really does have a nice ring to it, then I saw the Ace Attorney and went like 0_0.

Fast forward to November or early December, when I get a not crap computer. I start signing up for a whole bunch of sites and, once again, notice PW. I'm like, "Oh yeah, that game," and I try to find out what it's about, and then I ask for it for Christmas. I beat it in the following weeks after Christmas, and you know what happened from there.

Thus, a fan was born :P

I first saw a scene of JFA case 1 while I was watching an episode of Cinamatech on G4. All I remember was something about bananas. It seemed like an interesting story.

I bought a white DS Lite the first day it was released in June. I usually go to Fry's Electronics to buy my DS games. For a while, I checked there for Trauma Center (the doctor game) and Phoenix Wright (the lawyer game). Several months go by and I never see either title. By the end of summer, I finally found Trauma Center. I thought it was interesting story and fun to play. A few months later, I actually saw the Phoenix Wright game, and bought it immediately.

Upon playing the first case of PW, I was hooked. The story was so much better than Trauma Center. I also realized that they never said anything about bananas in the game.

By the time I passed the game, I started looking for Phoenix Wright pictures and found Court Records. It was on this site that I found out that Gyakuten Saiban 2 was just released. Also, I hear that JFA would be released in January. I really don't order things online much, so I figured I'd just wait until January.

I happen to be at Fry's Electronics when I see a copy of Gyakuten Saiban 2 with a sticker on it that said that it was in English. I bought it, because I couldn't wait for January. It was $39.99, but oh well.

Then I heard that JFA was going to come with a Phoenix Wright Stylus from Game Stop, so I went and reserved that too. So now I'm still hooked on PW, and awaiting more from the series. I also found out that it wasn't bananas at all in JFA.

Um there is bananas

Wellington states "other than the victim there was a bunch of bananas lying on the floor."

Being thoroughly dissapointed with the PSP I held in my hand, I started hearing on the 1up yours podcast that DS is bounds and leaps over it. On that same podcast I heard of "the best game on DS" a quirky lawyer game. Having loved quirky games like Katamari Damacy I knew I had to play this game. Also I might have saw a pic of Mia while researching on the interent so that was a factor.

After getting a part time job for a while I decided to spoil myself and bought a DS lite with Advance Wars DS and ordered PW off Ebay.

Court Records has allowed my fandom for this great series to grow. Thank you CR

I stumbled on the GBA versions of all 3 games translated in Chinese at a fansite (so sue me- not like it's illegal here). I played it on my PSP (GBA emulator) and when my PSP broke, I got a DS and the English version of the first game (properly, this time). I'm now waiting for GS4.

I saw a Japanese ad about Yomigaeru Gyakuten sometime around January of last year. Then I saw a mod at SPPf post about the same game a month or so later. Then I bought the Japanese version. And then came GS2, GS3, PW:AA, and JFA.

The-Magicbox was covering the release of Gyakuten Saiban 3, and I was like : "OMG! LAWYER GAME! THEY HAVE TO PORT THIS TO THE STATES!"

* * *

Fast-forward a year later, they haven't done anything. So I completely forget about the game until I see "Phoenix Wright : Attorney At Law". Unlike everyone who looks at the game, I know EXACTLY what this is and curse my lack of DS.

Later on in that year, I buy a DS (which I traded in for a DS Lite along with a TON of other stuff I wasn't playing. I also nabbed SMT:Devil Summoner and had 7$ over in credit), but GASP! Phoenix Wright is sold out. I place an order with the clerk (our place is pretty cool in that they have a pre-order system for games that are already released, and it doesn't cost you a penny. Flake too much on your orders and you can't do that anymore, of course. KYC procedures), pick up Trauma Center and Tetris DS.

Takes two months, then I get a call : "We got Phoenix Wright."

Trip takes 30 minutes by car.

I was there in 10.

I've got such a silly reason.

I had seen many of those silly objections at the http://objection.mrdictionary.net site and I like the style of it, and wanted to try it out. I saw it in a shop and went on to buy it.

I was on some really shitty nintendo fansite (n-philes.com, those goddamn bastards!) and they said it was good. [Edited by admin - no one here cares about your political beliefs, nor the supposed oppression of them on other forums. Please keep your obnoxious remarks to yourself].

Well anyways, I forgot about the game and I went to the mall one day I guess like a couple weeks or something after PW came out becuase my brother was having a sleepover and they wanted to go to the mall and I was looking for a new DS game. I saw the PW game in the used section in EB and I looked at it and it looked cool. My family is a bunch of lawyers and stuff, and I thought, hey, maybe I can learn about some of the stuff my uncle did and stuff. So I asked the guy at the counter if he had a new copy, and he got a sealed one out (sometimes if you ask for a "new" copy they will give you a used one for some stupid reason) I opened it up, and luckly I had my DS with me. So as I sat eating my chick-fi-la, I started the game. I didnt pick my head up for a week, just playing the game.

I wasnt *GASP* going to get PW:JFA becuase I heard it was worse than number 1 but then I saw it at Walmart and bought it. Its probably even better than PW1.

I came to these (the older) forums a little while after getting PW:AA.
