Geico "Cavemen" commercials to be turned into TV show?

For those that don't know, Geico is an insurance company that airs quirky commercials. Up until two years ago, all of their commercials revolved around a talking gecko, though lately they've mostly involved using celebrities to tell fake stories and, alternatively, the adventures of cavemen being put in situations referencing stereotyping and subtle racism.

Well, according to this article, said cavemen are getting a pilot based on them. How odd that a set of commercials would have such an impact that they'd get their own show. What next, diaper commercial-based shows?

Seems kinda pointless to me. The cavemen commercials are a satire on racism, but lately they've been getting really dumb. There's only so long you can have a caveman be a yuppie and still have it be funny.

And by the way, Homo neandertalis > Homo sapiens, in almost every way.

I dont think it would work. It was a good concept for the commercial at the time, but i think that they've taken their joke a bit too far. me personally, i miss the ones where they always end up saying how they got good news by switching to geico. Will Powers

Cool, I would actually watch and maybe even tape this if they do air the series. It kinda feels like real life version of The Flintstone meet The Jetsons in my opinion.

Agreed. These gecko and caveman ones are just plain stupid, but the older ones were the only commercials I liked, especially since they caught you off guard.

Are we sure that it was a Geico commerical turned TV series? Or was there a deal in the background prior to where Geico would use a producers concept to sell auto insurance and inturn create a market for their show. New shows are extreemly hard to market, the Geico commercials would do a lot of the heavy work for them.

I don't know. It could be funny and then it could be just plain stupid. It all depends on where they want to take it and where they go with it. I'd watch at least one episode to find out what it's all about.

I saw a commercial that was promoting the show once, but I don't remember when its going to air. I'm pretty sure its going to be in the fall lineup.
