Daisy stared blankly at the spot where the squirrel had been. "A squirrel. How... Enchanting. A person could write a book about squirrels and coffee huts. It'd probably be a best seller too..." She went upstairs.

Don walked back to the building slowly. He looked up at the sky. It was the bluest sky he had ever seen, fluffy white cloud moving lazily with the wing. Suddenly he realized just how much work had been done. The walls were fixed and ready for faint, the windows had been replaced. It was almost ready.

Don walked inside. 'I should probably start thinking about hiring workers.' He thought. 'Well, I have Ivan. He helped out and I did say I would think about it... So that's one worker...'
((I didn't forget! Consider this and open invitation to look for a job, now that we are almost done fixing everything.))

Lauren walked over to Don. "You said you needed help, right? Well, I have some tools here that I can use to spruce up anything that's left to renovate. I've got a lot of power tools. I even have a power paintbrush. ((I can see disaster striking with this one!)) Anyway, I can certainly help out, if you want me to."

"Well, the down stairs needs painting. Violet Is working on the design. The up stairs still needs more fixing. We haven't done much there yet. Just clean. If you want you can start on fixing walls, doors, and trim up there!" Don said, glad for all the help he was getting.

"All right, I'll get to work on that," Lauren said, and immediately head upstairs. Don was right, the upstairs needed a lot of work. She got out her tool set and decided on a power sander to smooth out the edges of the door frames.

Soan tapped a bedroom door. His finger went through it. A cockroach or two nestled, on his finger, but were squashed when the pulled his finger out.

He found a magnet, and needlenose pliers. He chased the screws on the door hinges with the magnet, and remove them with the pliers. He slowsly pushed the door out the window, careful not to snap it. Then he shoved it out the window, where it landed in the dumpster.

He made a call on his mobile phone. "Yeah? Yeah, I'm calling in the favour. I need a door..."

The brothers were finishing up cleaning the upstairs area for all the work it needed when they noticed Daisy coming up the stairs. They continued on with their work until they also saw Lauren coming as well. They had just finished when the door incident happened.
"Anyone need any help?" Jay asked politely, flashing a smile at all the hard work that was going on. "We'll be right back."
The brothers headed downstairs to check the progress there. The walls were ready for painting, the windows were replaced, all green lights were generally on for the real fun part of the reconstruction; the actual interior designing and decorating.
As they walked back upstairs, they took out their sketchbooks and began brainstorming variations on the general theme given. They were always excited to do this sort of thing, because they enjoyed the sparks of creativity. They just sat back and let their minds and hands flow.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Stefan had got the new door in, all right. It was slighty larger then planned, but, yeah.

He looked around for Don. He evantually found him upstairs. "What else is there? Most of the crap's picked up... although I'm doubtful of one of the room's floorboards..."

Don looked around, taking in how much work had been done. "It looks like most everything is done... Why don’t you show me the floorboard you are talking about?" Don wiped some sweat off of his forehead. He had just finished replacing some of the molding in one of the bedrooms. He got up and folowed Stefan.

He showed Don into the room with the new door. He tapped one of the floorboard with his foot. It lifted slighty - a smell similar to tea rose up from the room. "Either I'm mad, the previous owner liked tea, or the last owner has left some 10-year-old cocaine under the floorboards. Fancy lifting it?"

((FYI, 10 year old cocaine does smell like tea. I had to smell some for my Personal studies.))

Don nodded. He wanted to get to the bottom of this. They removed the floorboard, the smell of tea filled the air. Don looked inside. There was lots of what looked like water damage and a string smell of tea. "It looks like the stories were true." He got back up, dusted himself off, and turned back to Stefan. "There was a story about this places previous owner. He was dedicated to making the perfect tea. One day one of his experiments failed, and nearly destroyed the house. He was found dead and the house was abandoned. I guess this was where his lab was." Don took one more look around. "We are going to need to replace this entire floor. Do you think you can handle it?" Don asked Stefan.

((The house has a history now! I hope we don't see any... ghosts!))

Stefan nodded. "Sure." he removed the floorboard. He got to work ripping the rest in the room up. He made a small pile by the door. He (after half an hour), dumped most of the floorboards into the skip. "Mostly done." he told Don. "Where'd we get the new floor from?" And are we goign to be replacing stuff from the other rooms as well?"

"I checked the other rooms, they look clean to me. I put in a call for new floorboard while you were working, it should be here shortly." Don let out a laugh. "You haven't seen any ghosts have you." He said jokingly. "I wouldn't want to have to call the Ghostbusters!" Don suddenly felt a chill run down his spine. "Do you... feel like something is a little strange in here?" Don asked.

"No, but my senses have been overpowered with the smell of cocaine tea." he said. "I'll get some air freshener in a while... Anyway, I can get some people to help out with any ghosts... If that would be helpful. Better safe then sorry. Do you KNOW what the Ghostbusters do to ghosts? Actually... don't answer that..."

"I was only joking about them. But I may call T.A.P.S. in and see what they find..." As don was saying this a loud horn sounded outside. "That must be the new floorboard! Let's bring it up!" Don was glad to get out of the room. He walked through the house looking at all the work that had been finished. There were people painting the walls with a coffee/cream swirling pattern on the walls. With how things were going he hoped that they could open soon. He came to the truck, signed for the floorboard and started unloading. 'These are some nice floorboards!' Don thought to himself. 'This is going to look great!'

"Yeah, it is." said Stefan, pondering for a few moments. He got to work on the floorboards. After they were finished, he looked back up at Don. "So what now, then?"

"Let's see... we could see how the painting is going. If they are almost done I think it will be time to unpack all the mugs, chairs, tables, and all that other good stuff." Don walked out of the room and thought he saw something out of the corner of his eye. When he looked over there was nothing there. 'I'm definitely calling T.A.P.S. when this is finished.' Don thought.

((T.A.P.S. or "The Atlantic Paranormal Society". They have a TV show called "Ghost Hunters" on the sci-fi channel. It's a really interesting show. The link in the story is for the T.A.P.S. website and the text in my rambling here is for the shows site.))

"No. They do it to help people. But they do like to work with local groups. It gives them a chance to exchange techniques and also airtime since they are filming a TV show too. Maybe that could get some word out about the coffee house! It's like free advertising! And if they find something, that could be another thing to draw people in! I just hope if they find anything that it's friendly..." Don looked around the dining area. The walls were painted and drying. "Looks like it's almost time to bring everything in!" Don said, excitement in his voice. "Think fast!" He said tossing a set of keys to Stefan. "Could you go to the shed in the back? I have some chairs and tables we can set up until the new ones arrive. I'll get out the mugs and get some coffee, tea, and hot chocolate started. We can finally rest!"

Stefan caught the keys. He started unloading the shed contents. He did ring someone on his mobile phone, though.

Josef Hawke. Set Sero. Yuki Raven. You wouldn't find a trio who didn't have more obscure ways of catching spirits. They weren't hunters, but the three all had powers, that helped them. Set was a Necromancer, no need to worry about him. Hawke could see into the second plane - "The Ghost World". Yuki was a Possesor - someone who could leave their body. This was who Stefan called.

Don took one more look around. Everything was in it's place. The food was stocked up and the drinks were ready.
He walked over to the big glass windows at the front of the building. There was a sign in his hand which he hung on the window. Anyone passing by would see "HELP WANTED" in big bright letters.
He then went outside and opened a banner he had put Up. It said "GRAND OPENING TODAY! ONE FREE CUP PER PERSON TODAY ONLY!"
Looking at the transformation that had occurred he was amazed at how fast things had gotten done. He walked back inside, went behind the counter, and said "We are now open."

Stefan had long since left - he was far too tired for anything else; his body wasn't up to much.

Set Sero arrived at the building. He wasn't a rival to the business, determined to crush it with his palm. He wasn't a criminal determined to bring the shop down. No, he was merely someone wanting to see his sister. In the loosest sense of the word. He sat at a table, denying for anything to be given anything.

Kyrie Aimes glanced at the front of the coffee shop with gray-blue eyes, pushing back some strawberry-blond strands of her bangs. For a moment, she rummaged through her left blue-jean pocket for money, hoping it would be enough to earn her, at the very least, a shot of espresso. A pallid hand pulls out three one dollar bills, a nickel, and a lump of pocket lint; hastily, she shoved it back into her pocket and tugged down the corner of her red-paint-spattered blue three-quarter-sleeve shirt. Bah, the world's against college students having money without being trust-fund kiddies, she thought to herself. Even if she couldn't buy anything, she mused that perhaps she could peruse her textbooks in a comfortable seat.

"Guess there's no time like the present to go in." She mumbled to herself, letting herself into the shop while her contemporary sculpture textbook tucked neatly under her arm. After glancing around, she seated herself at a table near the door and placed her textbook on the table, browsing through it at a leisurely pace. She was curious about the people around her, of course, but as painfully shy as she was, it would be no easy task for her to get up and go over to anyone. Instead, she just rubbed the back of her head nervously, her fingers ruffling her boyishly-cut hair and read; at least this place was quiet compared to the dormitory building at school.

Don saw a young woman walk in. 'All right! My first real customer!'
He walked over to her table holding a menu in his hand. "Welcome!" He said in his usual warm way. "Can I interest you in something to drink?" he asked. He handed her the menu, then noticed her reaching for her money to count again. "Oh! Don't worry about that! Today is the grand opening! The first cup is on the house!"

For a moment, Kyrie flinched and looked up; at least the person who came up to her didn't appear all that threatening. With a slightly soft voice, she murmured. "I would like...I would like a French vanilla cappuccino, i-if you have it."

For a moment, her eyes slipped back to the page she had been reading--a sculpture of a sword made of ink pens? If only she could come up with something as original for her project. Maybe a sculpture of a cup of coffee made out of paper cups, plastic lids, and the like?

"O-on second thought, could I change that to a café latté?"

"No problem!" Don said energetically. He then walked back to the kitchen and prepared the drink. He was excited to finaly have a customer in his coffee shop. 'The firs of many I hope!' he thought to himself.
He returned to the table and gave Kyrie her drink. "There you are, one café latté." he said with a flourish. "If you need anything else please let me know." He gave one more warm smile and went back to the counter.

Kyrie lipped a soft "Thank you", then went back to reading her book, though the idea for the statue stuck in her head. Perhaps after it was graded and returned to her after being shown in the student art gallery, she would allow this coffee shop to have it for a decoration. She was pretty sure that she could get her classmates to chip in their coffee cups; she smiled at the thought while taking a sip of the café latté, a few of her strawberry blond bangs falling into her eyes.

Tasting the deep richness of the coffee, she smiled within herself and beamed externally; this would become one of the places she frequented outside of class--after all, it was on the way back from the art supply shop she frequented to get her alizarin crimson, Persian red, and carmine paints that she used on projects in her painting class. This coffee really stirred up her artistic juices; leaning back, she smirks and pulls out a napkin, starting to doodle fairies that wore necklaces with cross-shaped charms. Oh yes. This coffee had stirred the artist in her.

Don watched as Kyrie worked on her project. He saw the smile on her face and knew that he was where he belonged. His whole reason for opening the a coffee shop wasn't to get money, it wasn't for something to do, it was to be able to see people being happy. He wanted people to be able to forget their worries, their problems, the big things that can ruin someones day, and let them just enjoy a nice hot drink. He took a sip from his own mug. The cocoa tasted good.
'Now if only I could get some help around here.' he thought to himself 'Not that I need it, but it would be nice to have someone around.'

For a moment, Kyrie stopped drawing for a faint moment, staring at her drawings of fairies and slipping the napkin into her pocket, then pulling out another napkin to start the design phase for her sculpture. Her pencil flitted quickly across the paper of the napkin, putting down her concept art and slight writings on what she'd like to use for different parts of the sculpture. Her handwriting was by no means neat--What artist's handwriting was?--but it would do for her reference until she could get this design into her sketchbook for her art class.

"Ah...such a nice place..." She spoke out, seeming more refreshed now as she took another sip of her café latté. "I should really tell some classmates to come here."

Don was able to hear what was said even though the music was playing. Since there was no one around it was very quiet.
He took another sip of his cocoa and decided to see what the young woman was working on.
He walked over to the table where she was working. "Excuse me," he said to get her attention "I hope you are enjoying yourself here. I just wanted to check and see how you liked it here. You are the first person to come here you see... How was your drink?"

Vince walked down the street, a newcomer to the city with just two dollars in his pocket and a half empty plastic cup of coffee in one hand. Passing by the coffee shop and seeing the "Help wanted" sign, he figured he could scrounge up enough money to at least get an apartment room.

Walking in, Vince was startled by the size, it was bigger then any coffee shop where he was from. He shrugged, figuring that this was simply how things were around here. He walked up to the counter and sat down. An employee briskly walked up, but seeing the plastic cup already in Vince's hand, he started to walk away.

"Hey, I haven't been served yet," Vince called after the man.

"Oh, my apologies, what can I help you with?" the man behind the counter asked.

"I'll take a large coffee. Black, no sugar," Vince said to the man. The waiter looked apprehensively at the cup already in Vince's hand. "It's okay, I can multi task," Vince said to the man.

The man nodded and walked off, returning in a few minutes with a steaming hot cup of coffee. Vince took a sip. It was bitter, but not bad considering the speed in which it was made.

"I couldn't help but see the sign out front..." Vince hinted, drinking his coffee. Vince waited for a response from the man...

Don looked at the man in front of him. He didn't like it when people brought food from other places into his store.
Don thought for a moment then asked "Which one? The grand opening/first cup free sign or the help wanted sign?"
Don had an idea as to what the man was hinting at but wanted him to specify. "If you are looking for a job you need to be someone I can depend on. And you need to be willing to do allot of work. Right now I'm the only one here."

Set leaned back on his chair, picking his teeth with a toothpick. Not that he needed to clean his teeth, but he was bored, and he needed to kill time. This wasn't the way to do it, but it was better then drinking. He watched the people around him with a mulled intrest, keeping an eye open for the person he was looking for. Nope, not here yet. He sighed, and asked for the free coffee. He wouldn't drink it, but he'd have some use for it,

Daisy was on her phone off in the corner. She played with her hair, waiting for somebody to pick up on the other line. "Hello?" A smile spread across Daisy's face as she listened to the harried voice on the other end. "Yes, I know I wasn't. I just wanted to make sure you didn't send the police to my apartment looking for me. I'm at a coffee shop. You should come." Not that the person on the other end really cared about coffee.
"You missed the deadline, didn't you?" Said the voice on the other line.
"Of course not. I'll have a copy tomorrow, scout's honor." Daisy crossed her fingers.
"You better. Not for my health either."
"Hey, I said I would, So I will." The other person hung up, Leaving Daisy with a dead line. "And you will love the idea this time." Daisy wndered over to a table and pulled a notebook out of her bag and began to write, only stopping to ask for the free coffee.

Lauren came over to the counter, exhausted from all the work she had done. She took a look at the coffee machine. "Hey, Don. I see you have coffee, but since coffee is not my drink of choice, I would love to help serve it instead. I hope you could use a waitress or maybe a cashier, although I guess since the drinks are free, you wouldn't need someone at the cash register (at least for now)!" She had nothing new to do anyway, so she decided she would stay and help out as long as she could.

"That would be great! I'll be needing help as people show up. Plus that will allow me to get some other things done and still have someone to watch up front here." Don said "And we have more than just coffee, secretly it's not my favorite drink either." He whispered. "Here, familiarize yourself with the menu." He handed her a menu with every kind of hot drink you could imagine from coffee to tea. Almost anything you could want was there. "The only drinks we don't have are alcoholic. I want this to be a family friendly place to go. I may even add some muffins or cookies to the menu at some point."

Lauren took the menu. "Thanks," she said, "This sounds like it will become a full-fledged restaurant soon! Although, I'm disappointed there's no bar ((not really, we don't want a bunch of drunks staggering around XD))." She started walking around looking for customers that needed to be served. There were a lot of different options on the menu, so she was trying to commit them to memory as best as she could.

Jay and Jeremy returned to the coffee shop. They had left after finishing what all they could help with. As they walked in, they saw the few customers that had already gathered, as well as smelled the drinks, heard the music, and felt the unusual aura this place had. It was not unusual in a bad way; it was a bright, yet pleasant aura, akin to a warm log cabin in the winter time where one could escape from the harsh cold and talk with the nice people inside... Then again, it was freezing cold outside, and inside the heated shop, the brothers felt right at home. They saw their good friend Mr. Serrot behind the counter and walked up to him.
"Yo, Don!" Jay called, "Two mugs o' hot cocoa and two open employee positions, please!" Jay was pleased with his slightly unique order as he waited for a response.
"This place really got up fast! I'm impressed with the high quality of work that was done... And I'm glad we could help. By the way, Don, what positions are open? We'd be glad to continue helping out as best we can," Jeremy explained.
"We could even help out with the music!" Jay proclaimed jubilantly as he began playing his air-guitar along with the melody of the music.
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Set blew some salt at the corner. Still not here. Damn. He would give her another ten minutes at the most. He noted the air-guitaring man, playing to a tune with no guitar. His coffee was slowly cooling down beside him. His gloved hand tapped the table - Why here, of all places?

Of course, a chair flying across the room and smashing into the banister, falling apart grabbed his attention.
