It's kind of mean how they've dropped one or two hints that Ema was in Europe... around the same times that Edgeworth was abroad as well. Compared to other pairing hints, it's rather nebulous.
Granted, the pairing seems awful one-sided in its first (but not only) incarnations, but considering his development at that point in time, Edgeworth has little time for anything but business in 1-5. I'd imagine Ema is also tied up in the case as well, considering - plus, despite her admiration for everyone's favorite prosecutor, he is tied to some very darke memories for her.
I had never considered the idea of shipping Furio with anyone... he just turns out to be a very shallow character, and in my opinion wouldn't be much of a match for Franziska. He seems to have a weakness for small women with dangerous connections (Franziska has the prosecutor's office on her side).

But you also miss that Franziska realizes that she mistreated Adrian for the sake of the case, that it was very much the wrong thing to do, and tries to make it up to her--reaching out to her with the note and offer 'consultation' if Adrian ever needs anything in PW2, and teaching her how to use a whip in PW3.
It -is- reaching out to Adrian on a level she doesn't do to anyone else.
