Are there any instalation instructions for the Case Maker?
Because I unzipped it in any folder and it doesn't work, also I tried to recreate the full paths which appear inside the .exe and it doesn't work completely yet: the Case Maker allows me to load cases but they don't start.

MechBowser, can you make a turoail, or ahve you made a tutorial that scrolls the court screen from defendant to prosecution table, or defendant/prosecution to the witness stand?

BTW, what is the use of the player.exe under runtime? Everytime I run it, I get a default microsoft windows runtime error.
Also, I don't know how to test my cases/tutorials without building the game first. Ack
Is this intentional, or is there something I'm missing that you can test your scripts before you build the game? Payne

Nice program, nontheless. Phoenix

Sweet! It supports windows vista! Larry

I was a little worried at first that it wouldn't so that's why neglected to reply in the other topic.

Umm... a question (I'm sure you've had enough of them), but is it only possible to get my custom characters in if they are animated in with a white or transperant background with the size of 256x192 with talking animation separate from blink (non-talking) frames? Did I get that right? Eh?

You're not supposed to click on the Player.exe Butz
And building it each time isn't that hard, I mean. It takes like 5 seconds or something.

Ayup.
Doesn't need to be a white background, though.

So, any color background will make it transperant in the case maker?

No. Gray (RGB = 192,192,192) is automatically transparant, plus, any color defined transparant by your gif animator or whatever.

And who do we have here?

Oh sure I don't get any credit at all... :/

Anyway.. Android 21, would you mind giving me a pm later on with a small roleplay of her and another character (Phoenix maybe?) so I can get a feel for your characters personality. Would you also mind providing me with "Character Info" such as age and a description to go in the character menu?

Panya Amasugi is rather cute, although I must admit I've become a little confused by her description in your sprite topic.

Glitchy wasn't the best word to use. More like "it's just not working".

I tried loading up one of the tutorials and it just took me back to the main thing. ;_; I also tried making a new case and clicking around with just about everything and it'll either not respond or just ... go back to the main thing.

You DO realize all the coding is in the ActionList Database, right?

EDIT: Also, by "main thing" do you mean the title with the logo, or the case-selection screen?

I have no idea what ActionList Database is. I actually just downloaded the case maker because I was curious as to what it looked like.

And by main thing, yeah, I mean the title menu. I clicked load [whatever case] and it just brings me back to it- I never even get to the case selection screen. I'm sure there's something I'm not getting, but whatever it is, it's not a huge deal if I can't figure out how to run this.

Well then your missing the whole aim of the program as the program works IN the actionlist. Without that. you cannot do anything. I suggest you take a careful look at the program and imagine all the options.

Thats because you have just loaded it, what your loading is a case-file to work with. not a game. If it was a game it'd be a standalone EXE which would then run the case.

Ahh Okay then ^^;

and it doesn't matter, I'm not planning on making it follow the GS1-3 timeline strictly. If you think about it GS1 C5 (the DS case) Didn't fit directly did it? They just bundled the characters in and made them loosely tie together.

Apart from nothing else, no one said I couldn't make a spinoff with a cool fancharacter in, and besides, she would be VERY much useful to the case I'm planning.

P.S I've not yet received that PM.

I notice you said that grey is automatically transparent...

But to play devils advocate, wouldn't it be safer to use a colour that would NEVER be used in a game sprite, such as neon green?

If you want to use grey, just use RGB 192,192,193 instead of 192,192,192.
There's no visible difference, really.

Okay, so what do we got here. First I think the way to handle the programming bit is well done. It's easy to understand and it's fast. But then off course there's bugs in it. The most bugs I found is around the Court Record button. And when it comes to play the most basic stuff works pretty good.
One thing I have thought on for next release (I bet there'll be a new release in a long time forward with new events) is that you need some kind of map strukture for all the command buttons, where you choise which command to add to the list. Fix that and add the most normal Court events and I'm pleased with it whatever you add after that. You're doing a great work and I wish you luck.

More a question to everyone. I downloaded the "MP3-to-ogg" convertor but got a message saying that the install file was corrupted. Have any of you faced this prob too yet and what to do?

Thanks, but whenever i loaded this after building it and running the EXE, I got a windows XP error message. Ack
Nevermind I think I figured out what the problem was. The list was looking for Edgeworth in the characters folder outside the projects/tutorials folder. Payne

BTW, was there any particular reason why you chose gray 192,192,192 for your transparent backgrounds?
Also, 192,192,193 WOULD be a visual difference, to only some people who know about programming, look closely at colors, sprites, animations, palettes, whatever.

There's an engine I like working with, that uses a 256 color setup, where the palette index color 0 can be any color for transparency (ex. 255,0,255 on palette index 0), while maintaining the same colors for a characters sprite on a different index color that is not 0 (ex. 255,0,255 on palette index 1).
Since that engine I use uses pcx format images, and this case maker uses png and gif format, well, I donno how the whole imaging thing on this case maker works.

Proper grammar please. I think he's referring to where the program is loading the projects from, and if all projects have to be in the preojects folder (maybe).

But for future reference, it's better to refer to what you're asking about within your post so it makes sense.

And to the time you said 'wut' to me (kindof rude, but meh), I'll rephrase my question...or just emphasize part of the sentance.
Just because the game uses a small resolution doesn't mean the maker options have to aswell. I suggest making the windows for all the options (especially the actionlist) to be larger. It's hard to view the messages you've created (for spelling errors or just general "which part am I looking at") and other such things.

Actually, I noitced this one too. I would think you could still keep the case resolutions small, in tact, but how about a more larger, wider working space? Looks too crammed up to work with, IMO

This maybe a glitch, bug, unintentioal, or whatever the case is. Anyway, I noticed if u set the green speed lines going upward or downward, it goes in front of the bottom screen's control panel. Wouldn't it make sense for the speed lines to go behind the control panel?
