I just started it and I'm kinda bleak on the story. I enjoyed the Steel Samurai case from the first game, but this one just seems so empty after the last case. (If you don't already know from the main GS2 page, I loved it) I've gotten probably halfway through the first investigation and I just wanted to know what you guys thought about the case? (I know, it's too early to judge, but still) It's probably a lot of fun going through these cases while discussing them here so yeah, fire away. (no spoilers please!)

I liked that case, and if you're only on the first investigation...you got a long way to go :edgy:

Basically, I found Pearl to be no help during this case. In fact she's more annoying than maya ever was. Matt is kinda annoying with that phone animation of his, but he makes up for it in the end. And it's reassuring to see a familiar face later on (and one quick cameo, also).

Pearl aside, I found this case to be the best in JFA and second only to Rise from the Ashes in terms of which case I think is the best. Of course, I've still yet to play T&T and AJ though.

Mmm.... I liked it, but that may be because I'm a big Juan Corrida fan D: And the case gets very unique later on, so....idk XD

It's a really great case to me, one that I enjoyed the most; it was a little dull at beginning, but soon it became great. Just play through it and you'll see that it's way better than it seems ;3

Let me put it this way: this WILL be your favourite case of all time (as long as you have emotions and you don't read spoilers). It was the only case in JFA that I hadn't spoiled myself silly on and, trust me, you want to keep it that way. I have played it about 10 times now and it still stirs me up inside now. Unmissable and epic!

This is my FAVORITE case out of the whole series (yes, including T&T and AJ)...it's amazing but i gotta admit, the beginning was so dull...but it WILL get better eventually! Like others have said, DO NOT use game guides...it ruined it for me...and dont read spoilers :P that is all... :maya:

I read reviews on the case so i really looked forward to it and got to say it blew me away bother charecter wise and story wise but at the start it just seems like another actor killed actor case like in 1-3 but it becomes sooo much more :D

Well guys, I finished it. To be honest, I can see where you are all coming from with it being epic and amazing and what not, but I somehow already knew Matt had a dual personality (maybe I saw a spoiler somewhere here) so the twist wasn't that great.

However, with that aside, I have to admit it was one hell of a case. I had so much fun with it that when I saw Maya's little drawing on the card at the end, I had one of those AWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW moments. :larry2: It was really awesome. I loved the Investigation ~ Core 2002 theme as well (probably my fav theme from that game).

I'm now playing T&T, finished the first case and am on the first court proceeding of case 2, and so far, both cases have been better than JFA (with exclusion to 2-3, that case was awesome!!!!!). Not once have I felt like "ugh, I don't like it but I should keep playing till it gets good" like I did with case 2-4. Maybe it's just me?

aw =3...i loved 2-4...and i consider it as the best case out of the whole ace attorney series...=3 Spoilers kinda ruined it...when i first saw matt, i didnt really believed that he was guilty (like phoenix) until those psyche locks broke and i was like...whoa...o-O; and I LOVE THAT CARD IN THE END! ^^ it gave me a fuzzy feeling inside <3 so cutee :D even when she's in danger, she's thinking of Nick! :kissy: anyways, back on topic, it's probably cuz of peoples' avis and sigs here? I see a lot of Matt sigs...lol XD...
Spoiler: *insert random things here -no spoilers...just skip it if you dont like randomness~ :D
glad i didnt see this site 'til i finished JFA or else it probably wouldve ruined it for me too xDD...this site ruined 3-5 for me! :O...siggys...everywhere...*cornered* nooo! DONT EAT ME

It's definetly the best case in the series. JFA was my first Ace Attorney game and up to that point I'd tended to stick to things like Mario and Zelda, with barely any plot twists. I didn't suspect they'd do something like that in a game and when Matt chaged, I almost dropped my DS.

I also cried at the bad ending...

Originally, case two of JFA was my favourite, however, after replaying the game and playing case 4 again, I'd say it's now my favourite case. xP

It gets MUCH, MUCH better, don't worry.
I thouroughly enjoyed it, and I always found myself like ripping out my hair and chewing my fingernails at times because I got so nervous and scared. xD
Definately the most on-the-edge(..worth) case in the whole series, second to case five of AA, of course. (haven't played third game yet :()

At the time, this was definitely my favourite case - the only thing that really tops it in my opinion is 3-5, which had me in tears. :larry: I never did get to experience the bad ending, though... I lucked out and got the good one on my first try. I just started JFA over, though, so maybe I'll purposely get it wrong next time, just to see what happens!

.... or I could probably look it up on Youtube, if I really wanted to. :yogi:

EDIT
Just found the video... holy crap. That's reeeeeally upsetting. I'm sososo glad I got the good ending, because if I had seen that the first time I would have been like O_O;;;

I LOVED THIS CASE! MATT IS DEAD SEXEH!

The ending was awesome too. I was totally freaked out about what would happen to :maya: and Mattie's reaction to everything was amusing. Shelly was an interesting character, and I fell in love with Adrian.

This case was hella tight. Definitely my favorite of the whole series. I'm not upset that it lasted only two days because those two days were so long and full of numerous twists and turns that led me to believe I was on a virtual rollercoaster. Here's how it went for me:

First day: "WHOA! MAYA'S BEEN KIDNAPPED THIS CASE IS AWESOEM ALREADY! :D"

Second day, part one: "YEAH! Finally, the killer's been brought to the stand. TIME TO FACE JUSTICE, ADRIAN! ...Wait, she's not guilty? WHO DID IT THEN? IT COULDN'T BE MATT!!! Well, I do want to know the truth so I'll ask him.

...

NOWAWIAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!! HE IS THE KILLER! HOLY SHIT WHAT A BASTARD!!!!!!! :pizza:

Third day: "OH MY GOD! GOTTA STALL THE TRIAL! OH MY GOD GUMSHOE GOT INTO A CAR WRECK! OH MY GOD DE KILLER OVER THE RADIO! OH MY GOD FRANZISKA JUST STORMED INTO THE COURTROOM! OH MY GOD WILL THE MIRACLE HAPPEN! OH MY GOD OH MY GOD OH MY GOD!!!! I JUST GOT DE KILLER TO SET MAYA FREE!!!!!!!!!! HA HA HA HA HA TAKE THAT ENGARDE!!!!!!!!

*epilogue plays*

...*sniff* WHY IS THIS CASE SO AWESOME!!!!!!!!!????????? :larry:"

Matt's mad breakdown was the highlight of the case for me. Seriously, no other PW or AJ case can hold a candle to this one. It'll be really hard to top.

Like a lot of people, it's my favorite case in the series (then again, I've only played AA and JFA), but second is 1-4, then 1-5 for me.

Anyway, when Matt did his hair flip, I loved him so much more. How many AA characters are really THAT good at acting?''

But, as I'm replaying it, I'm seeing how much of a jerk Matt was when he was nice.

Two things always bothered me though; why are there seperate profiles for the belboy and De Killer? I mean, we KNOW that they're the same. Also, why was Oldbag's name never updated beyond Security Lady? Come on, Phoenix!

Spoiler: 4-4
Maybe I'm a bit biased, but Klavier putting the final nail in Kristoph's coffin and Kristoph's freakout totally did it for me. Even moreso than this one. I had to play through this case because I forgot the entire thing. Meaning that it wasn't so much memorable for me. Even after going through it a couple times. And 4-4 - I remember exactly how everything happened only after playing it once.

It did make me very sad though. Two characters who I loved to death both got 'killed off'. We'll prolly never see Mattie again or the man mentioned in my spoiler tag.

I.LOVE.THIS.CASE.
I don't think I've ever felt so nervous or immersed into a game as I was during 2-4. Oh man, the end of the first day...
WARNING: mega 2-4 spoilers... just sayin
I was gonna cry.... I was like, "poor phoenix.... *sniff sniff*..." and when I saw the judge's chair empty... I dunno why, but it seemed to really have an impact on me. It added to the drama.
Maya made me laugh quite a few times, like when she's all like, "Did I just joke about dying?" or something like that (I'm replaying it but I haven't gotten to that part yet this time around) and the shell with Nick on it at the end. Complete AWWW moment.
Pearl is such a cutie!!! And day two was FILLED with epicness. Gumshoe's accident (something told me that Gumshoe would crash and I found myself screaming, "GUMSHOE, EYES ON THE ROAD!!! PLEASE, DON'T--oof. he crashed. OMG GUMSHOOOOOOE!!!"), the whole Maya-being-kidnapped, Engarde's split personality that I NEVER saw coming (I'm not being sarcastic, just so's you know), and the Miles and Franziska scene at the end. There's too much awesomeness in this case. nuff said.

Best plotline so far. It challenges Phoenix's deepst beliefs, and I thought the nightmare was a great idea. The characters were great too, De Killer, Oldbag and Matt Engarde were both awesome. I really, really wanted to attack Matt with something sharp towards the end of the case though. Fransizka's confession and departure was a great way to end the game.

This case is one of the biggest reasons that I'm such a strong Phoenix X Maya supporter, and I have to say, when it started, I thought to myself "Oh Jesus, not another Steel Samurai case."

Then a certain person got taken away and it got really really interesting.

I don't get what all the fuss is about. I found 2-4 boring and I had to force myself to keep playing. I didn't like Adrian, Matt wasn't even awesome after he showed me his real self, I didn't like de Killer, Pearl was annoying as hell and Will was there. For short, I didn't like the characters. Same goes for 1-5 and me - everyone found it so OMFG AWESOME YAY but I didn't click with the persons and just didn't find the plot line all that stunning.

I don't have to like the plotline nor the characters to gush over the card in the end. Although I have to confess that the number of times Phoenix worried about his job and Maya was rather large and I found that a little annoying. But that doesn't lessen my fondness for the Phoenix/Maya pairing!

2-4 is the best case in the whole series, I was expecting 3-5 to be even better, but alas that never happened. Dahlia was the friendliest person on Earth compared to Matt.

2-4 was my favorite case in JFA. ^_^

I got so confused near the end of the case, though. So I ended up saving every time before making a decision. The first time I got the bad ending, which was just really...depressing. But then I just tried again and got the good ending. Yay~

i know it is just an opinion and fair enough but i don't agree that Dahlia is friendly compared to Matt. I mean she killed 3 people 4 if you include Terry so in no way is dahlia friendly compared to matt she is evil , evil i say lol
But overall case 2-4 was epic but case 3-5 was the best finale ever so far .

I already had the ending to case 2-4 spoiled to me by a number of fan fiction and this website (but I'm not complaining; I really only have myself to blame ;; ) so, unfortunately, I knew what was going to happen. HOWEVER, I seriously, seriously, seriously LOVED the case. Matt Engarde's real personality was a fantastic twist, Adrian was a wonderfully conflicted character, and the whole complexity of the plot was amazing. Even when I knew what was going to happen, the case kept me on the edge of my seat and I loved it.

I'm probably the only one who hated de Killer. :< I thought he was a bastard for taking Maya hostage and threatening her. Maya's drawing at the end of the game damn well nearly made me cry, too (ironically, I didn't know about that part of the game).

I HATED that case for one horrific reason; my game had a glitch and instead of saving right before the las trial, it would instead erase all data and I'd have to start from the beginning.

Worst part is, I did play it twice because the first time I figured it was 'user error'. Nope.
I played through the whole damned case a 2nd time, and sure enough it reset.

Hmm, well, I'd get my money back if you got that from a retailer...if not that's the risk we used games buyers run.

I can see where the angst might get a little old, but it helped me see into Phoenix a little more, and I needed that around 2-4, because the poor guy doesn't get a hell of a lot of character development.

I love this case; after playing through it a second time, it's tied for my favorite case with 3-5. The story is really exciting, with lots of twists and turns, and
Spoiler:
Matt is such an evil, hatable bastard. Also, I LOVE the role switching between Phoenix and Edgeworth (which I didn't notice the first time because JFA was the first game in the series I played): Now Phoenix is the one fighting for his not guilty, even when he knows it's not the "right" thing to do (although he is given a compelling reason to do it), and Edgeworth is the one championing the true justice in the case (although he still uses some questionable tactics to get there -- namely, breaking down Adrian in court).

So, yeah, great case.

There's a lot I can say, but it's probably been said. BEST. CASE. EVER.

I should probably at some point just COUNT the number of twists that kept me in amazement. Sure, you can tell some deus ex machina is going to save the day, but that doesn't make it any less amazing. Definitely the biggest one for me was...
Spoiler: 2:4
Francizka saving the day. When I played it, and Edgeworth asked how we could find Gumshoe, my mind was a blank. I think I tried the EMI detector, and Edgeworth was like "Uh." It didn't give me a second chance, and the trial just continued. I sort of thought it would be deadly impossible for anyone to get the items to us. Hearing her whip out of nowhere, then trumpeting, awesome music with a great shot of her opening the door, PLUS me taking the two seconds to realize how she did it, it was really jaw-dropping.
I can understand the case is worth a little less to someone who didn't really love Maya as a character. When the first radio call came in, it WAS pretty surprising, and a good reason for Phoenix to defend someone. (I loved how there was a "THUD" sound on every one of de Killer's lines, and the background got fuzzy; like Phoenix's hard is beating a hole in his chest). But as things drew ON and ON...I kept thinking "OK! Now we're going to find her, and we can REALLY get this trial started!" and when Phoenix burst into the wine cellar, and got that call from Gumshoe...my shock was perfectly shared with Phoenix.

Plus, Hotline of Fate is a F***ing awesome song. Fit the mood all the way through.

Oh, and if anyone wants to relive some of the moments, the whole thing is on YouTube in a playlist.
