We're getting off topic here peeps...While I agree that chances are Franny won't come back 8 years into the future to give Phoenix the card...
There's no evidence that she hasn't already, To elaborate, We don't know what happens after

Point being, that while it could have been totally forgotten (In all honesty, probably was) There's still a chance that Phoenix Carries it in his pocket next to the Megatama for all we know.
Mainly, I'm saying that it might not be the last we see of the card, it could easily show up in a later game, dropped by Phoenix and he could explain how he got it and what it is when it's given back to him, of course, Capcom would have to be willing to seal the deal with a Cannon PhoenixXMaya Pairing.
I think it could happen, they have alluded to it enough (C'mon, if the need the cannon Evidence Pile, go look at the PhoenixXMaya Fanclub, we've been working hard on it.) The only reason they wouldn't is because Capcom is often annoying about committing to a story sometimes. (Me:So like...none of the endings in Resident Evil were real...WTF? Why even beat the game?)

capcom had it's chance in game three, cuz franny could have just gave phoenix the card at anytime and if she comes back now, just for the soul purpose of giving it to him, it would be:
1. compleatly unrelated to Apollo Justice (or the story line so far) and
2. that would be premoting frannyXphoenix.
therefore, i bealeve we have seen the last of the card. it was just a filler to have a deep moment with franny and to have a fourth peace of evedence.

And Capcom 'had its chance'??? Maybe they had actually planned to bring it back NOW for the most impact!!!Because yeah, it may have been filler, but if later they had realised they can't bring it back, they would have made Franny say 'I lost it' or something. There just has to be a reason!!!!
And whatever the plot is, I think GS5 somehow has to tie in the Apollo Justice characters, BRING BACK THE OLD ONES, some relationships lol, in a very epic storyline where Phoenix is the murderer or something. Or the Judge :)
(But that's only if it were to be the last game, so it might not be)

Then, a murder happens. Prosecutor Klavier is incapacited somehow, he can't come to trial. Franny steps in as Prosecutor for the three days, with Apollo on defense and Phoenix helping. In the middle of a recess, Franny hands the card over to Phoenix.

ANYWAY. I created a topic about this whole card thing in the GS3 section.
Because I kept on wondering and thinking, WHY THE HELL DID FRANZISKA NOT GIVE THE CARD TO PHOENIX?
At the end of JFA, it definately seemed like the card had a strong relevance towards the plot of T&T
But in reality, the card had absolutely no relevance at all.
Which I thought was really, really weird...
As much as I HATE, HATE, HATEE to say this, I really do think that the card won't appear anymore.
Which is pretty stupid, because why would the capcom people make such a big deal out of it in JFA? It seemed too big to simply be 'forgotten'.
I really do hope we see more of Franziska though, screw the card, I WANT FRANNY!

I honestly think anything more than that would be a little "messy" in terms of the fact that this is now "Apollo Justice," not "Phoenix Wright." As much as I miss the old characters... I was frustrated that half the time Apollo was just being used by Phoenix. ^^;

'The 4th piece of evidence' isn't as reason of itself. The card was of separate importance, otherwise they would have just had 3 pieces of evidence.
The card was important to Game 2 for various reasons [it was a way to show Franziska intended to keep prosecuting and return to defeat Phoenix one day, also the card's contents had symbolic meaning for.. various theories of mine..].
However.. if the writers of game 5 are the same as game 4, I expect they won't remember it or think it's of relevance any more. I mean, they apparently thought Edgeworth, Maya and the entire contents of game 2 and 3 weren't relevant enough to reference or impact the game, so, although the card's return would be good for continuity if Franziska ever returned to face Lawyer Phoenix, the chances of that happening in GS5 are.. unfortunately remote.
Giving it to Apollo would be meaningless to both Apollo and Franziska.
Also, though we assume the next game is about Apollo, it's not the 'Apollo Justice Series'. In Japan the game is simply called 'Gyakuten Saiban 4/5'

Yes, some may say they just forgot, but Capcom isn't a bunch of amateurs to do such a mistake..
Oh, and btw, the game is still GS5. We don't know if it is AJ2 (yeah it most probably will be, but who knows?)
