See, I didn't know who Iris was until I got accidentally spoiled reading fanfiction. XD So I wondered, "Are they really something?". So I got on the third game and when I got to the very last case, something clicked in my head upon seeing Iris. It was something along the lines of, "Uh-oh. Don't tell me. She has a split personality, or that hood on her head is protecting her from being possessed by the evil spirit of some woman who still holds grudges in this life!" Yes, I was an idiot. x.x
And I think my weird theory proved even more "valid" when Laurice(lolz) showed his sketch in court, and my mind went, ".........I knew it. Dahlia's an evil DEMON who possessed Iris that night and made her fly over the bridge after killing somebody! Waaaah!"
Yes, once again, I am an idiot who can't keep herself tied down to reality.
Well all said and done, after that case, I realized that this pairing was pretty cute. I mean, I prefer this over PhoenixXMaya. Though I admit I did think about this pairing during the first game, but then it kind of froze over in the sequel. I don't know, I think it just doesn't fit that way. Especially with Pearl tagging along and going, "Mr. Nick is Mystic Maya's special someone!"
Besides, I started noticing just how similar Feenie and Iris really are as people. And their life situation is even the same: they've experienced that feeling of being abandoned. If you think about it, they were both left behind or just forced to stand on their own at one point in their childhood. Isn't it true? They both care about the ones they love, even if it's a one-sided gesture. I believe they're meant for each other that way. Afterall, in the words of Antoine de-Saint Exupery:
"To love. To love is not to look at each other. It is to look in the same direction."
I think this is quite true for this pairing. Well, I don't have the words to be more elaborate on the meaning of this quote, but I think it's self-explanatory.
It's admittedly a little awkward for the both of them following the events after GS3, but I just know that they could still work it out if given time. Or, ERASE GS4 FROM THIS UNIVERSE AND DROP IT INTO A BLACKHOLE.
I've also gone as far as comparing their profile facial highlights in the course of the game, JUST to prove they're obviously a canon couple, so yeah.
I mean, LOOK!

And don't worry, Arti, I think most of us had weird theories about Iris when we first saw her. I originally thought Dahlia had died years ago and Iris was just another random medium channeling her for an extended period of time or something...

In the meantime, we need to spark some discussion in this thread so following Arti's, Daphne's, and Franzise's lead, let's all offer our crazy theories on who we thought Iris was when we first saw her. So my turn. Anyway, for the first portion of the game before Phoenix falls off the bridge, I was convinced that Iris was Dahlia. I assumed she had used her powers of persuasion to somehow con her way out of prison and was hiding at the temple until she could strike back (which was enhanced by my memory of her parting words to Mia asking her if she thought this was over). We hadn't by that point actually found out about Dahlia's fate by that point I think. I actually let that mostly go after Phoenix's talk with Iris though when she mentions that she never attended a university and no psyche locks appeared, although a part of me toyed with the idea a bit longer. After all, Matt had been able to get past the psyche locks, but he had done so because the question he was answering was the wrong one to trigger the locks so my conviction that Iris was Dahlia faltered quite a bit at that point. Then after I found out that I was defending Iris, I gave up on that theory. We had already done the guilty client plot and, although the game designers don't seem to mind repeating plots, that one wouldn't have had enough shock value left by that point to make reusing the plot worth it so I doubted that they'd choose it as the final case of Phoenix's arc. By the way, I thought Phoenix was an idiot throughout the majority of the case because of his faith in "Dollie" although I respected him for it partially as well. It takes a lot to continue believing when the evidence is so strong to the contrary. Then I found out the truth and felt like an idiot, but a happy idiot because the whole ending was so adorable and heart-warming.

As far as Japanese fanart sites, most of them are posted in this thread with the pictures that came from them, but I can give you a few of the better ones if you like. You don't need to be able to read the language after you've got a feel for the layout of most sites (I can't understand a word). These are among the sites that I check frequently.
Several very cute Phoenix/Iris pictures here. I think they're all posted in this thread by now though. :P Updates do occur, but pics are only sometimes based on the pairing. There is a lot of family and friendship stuff as well with characters from all four games.
Another site with some cute stuff of young Phoenix and Iris. Again though, I pretty sure I ransacked the site and posted all the pictures in this thread. Updates occasionally, but not always pairing based stuff.
Probably the best Phoenix/Iris site on the planet and the source of the pic I'm about to post. Updates are periodic, but they do happen and are often based around the pairing in some way although certainly not always. The artist also likes Klavier/Ema as well so pictures of them appear and this artist is fond of drawing a bunch of other characters as well.

As for the question, I pretty much just check this topic and fanfictions, and maybe Deviantart sometime but that's it...

Actually, the reason why it hurts me to read that fic was because...it was pessimistically realistic. I could see it happening, and maybe that's why my drive to continue my fic is being hindered somewhat. ...I need to lift that barrier and get with the next chapter! >(
