As for mistranslations, CT was full of them too Redd White -

"Spoony bard!"
"Glenn, you're a marshmellow!"

These are the most memorable ones, I think. What saddens me the most is that the translators willingly obscured one of the most important parts of the plot, namely
Spoiler:
the role of the Earth in the time travels
. That's a tad worse than just flat-out bad/hilarious translation.

It's REVISIONISM Payne !

Gosh, you are right! I got confused and messed the quotable quotes up-sorry.
I could be wrong, but weren't the FFIV translator and the CT one the same person? It explains LOTS of things... Von Karma

Best game ever? No (actually, I don't think there is a "best game ever"). Overrated? Slightly. Fun game? Yes! I do wish it was a bit longer. Imo it doesn't have as much replay value as most people claim. I found new game + to be boring.

Say what you want, but Marle hugging Crono after his resurrection is still one of the most adorable and touching game scenes of all time.

Best Game Ever? Not bloody likely. Now before you jump down my throat, I never said I think it sucks. I just said it's not the best game ever. However, I do think it's one of the better SNES RPGs I've played, next to such games as Seiken Densetsu 3, Bahamut Lagoon, and Final Fantasy VI (And believe me, I know my SNES RPGs).

The SNES era was what I like to call "Square's golden age" you had FF6, Chrono Trigger, and Super Mario RPG. All of those were excellent games that would still beat many games of today.

And if someone can find me an English version/translation of Bahamut Lagoon, I'd like to see what that's all about.

Square is just now building back to their glory days with FF12. But the best game they ever made was FFT hands down.

On topic again: CT, for its time, was practically unbeatable in every aspect of the game. Excellent graphics, Excellent sound, Excellent story, and entertaining.

Also, there were 14 endings to CT(counting the game over as one), not 12.

Chrono Trigger sure is great, but I think FF's 6 and 9 are better =') I do love Chrono Trigger though, the plot's pretty good, and Robo is just plain awesome.

Second most overrated RPG ever.
(The first, of course, being Final Fantasy VII.)

Not agreed.

There's at least two or three other FFs in front of CT.

And I'll disagree also to CFTF, who said that CT/CC were the best game soundtracks ever. Hell, they weren't even Yasunori Mitsuda's best work! (which was Xenogears, BTW)

Okay, FFVII, then FFVIII, then FFVI, then CT. Satisfied?
(I'd throw FFX in there too but God knows there's more than enough haters to balance out the rabid fans)

Well... it isn't the best game for sure... but... it was my FIRST RPG EVER (played on emulator, though)... and the story is still far more original than many games that get in the stores nowadays, even if it isn't developed as it would deserve... also, I love the moving monsters and the touch-fight thing, it just adds a little more reality.
And Lavos is still one of my favourite final bosses EVER.

However, when it comes to the title of best game ever, so far, my vote goes for Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. (In its original format, at least. It sort of, um, lost a few things in translation... *coughbadactingbadscriptingcough*)

*seconded for bad acting, also for symphony being an awesome game*

I think only Alucard sounded halfway decent in the game. Everyone else was terrible.

Xenogears pales in comparison with the CT/CC soundtracks.

It's got... uh...

Well, I loved the first overmap theme, I looove~ the music box. There were some other good tracks in there but I don't listen to it over and over again like I do the Chrono OSTs.

Chrono Trigger was such an awesome SNES RPG when Final Fantasy III (Final Fantasy VI) came around the RPG fame.

Lucky I have the Playstation Version (Despite loading times when you encounter enemies) that was packaged with Final Fantasy IV. (Final Fantasy Chronicles) I got all the endings and many, many scenes that I just LOVE in the game...Chrono Cross was...sort of OK. Edgy

Yes, yes they were. FFVI was also done by him. Oh well, I'll wait for the fantranslation. But, it is a great game. Go, dream team!

The CC soundtrack had three good tracks. The intro, Boss battle theme, and the Dragon God battle theme. The rest was just... meh. CT was more consistant in the quality of the music.

I loved the game, but I never actually finished it O_o

I was playing it very intensively and loved the story, my favorite part of the game. It was neatly directed and really pulled me into the game, till I ended up near endgame.

Suddenly all kinds of sidequests popped up, or you could just tackle the final boss. It just lost me there. I loved the good story telling, but by suddenly letting you loose in the world and giving you bits of this and that, I lost interest and never finished the game. I think it's still in somewhere downstairs, with a near finish save XD

Holy shit, Mikker. XD You missed the best part of the game by one dungeon.

I thought most people agreed that the second half of FF6 was inferior to the first half.

I would also take the case of CT being one of or the greatest games of all time, I play it (both New Game + and not) atleast 2 or 3 times a year. It's only lasting problem is now that I've memorized every single part of the game is really easy to beat.

CC on the other hand sucks hard, it sucked when it came out, it sucks to this day, and I honestly had to push myself to get far in it and eventually said "**** this".

I have Chrono Trigger emulated on my computer.

The game blew me away, especially the music.

I'm almost done with the game, but the it is going on my top 20.
Don't mind me, just passing through.
