My installer now includes an updater that checks for a new version of the installer and downloads it. IT WILL NOT RUN AUTOMATICALLY AS I DO NOT LIKE THAT KIND OF THING! So there :jake: !

The installer may be out by the next release of PWlib (KSA_Tech permitting, of course :hobohodo: ).

@Gerkuman: Just experiment till it crashes! :will: Just joking (though you could...) - someone else might be able to help a bit better (I'm not really proficient in AHLSL+PWlib).

So when we're ready to deploy our game for launch[not that I'm that far, but I bet within the next few months people will be asking this], how should we go about doing it, KSA? As it stands now, from my understanding, we'd have to have the user do:
1. All the steps from the first post(since mirroring isn't allowed), in order to get the game exe from your site
2. Give them our custom images/scripts, and tell them how to install them correctly, or make an installer
Which seems rather awkward imo.

Would it be possible in the future to maybe include a commandline application or something to integrate all of our stuff in AIGE.exe perhaps(similar to how casemaker 2.1 did it)? An all in one app would be the ideal solution, I think.

@Gerkuman

On the press functions you can create conversations like you did in Conversation Tutorial. The Cross Examination Tutorial shows a skeleton of the Cross Exam.

@Maelstorm

Seems hardware issue. AIGE tries ot load in non-pow2 mode, and it if fails it tried in pow2 mode.
You can "cheat" and to this: open the bg on photoshop and to a resize canvas where the object expands to the left and down. The size of the resize whould be: 256, 256. I used this technique with old AIGE versions before I discovered how to load non-pow2 textures.

@lukegb

I may make AIGE generate a video card capabilities list (as well the name) in the aigelog.

@Dax

A game deployment is allowed.

Is it possible to use different blips for male and female? I know the wavs for them are in the folder, but is there a command to change the blip sound?

Yes.
Code:
setmsgboxtickersound("sfx-blipmale.wav");

Just replace "sfx-blipmale.wav" with whatever sound you want to use.

Also, a question for KSA or anyone who thinks they can answer:
Is there any way to adjust the speed of a message? Looking through all the tutorials, I either missed it or it isn't there.

I've also managed to create a blank button base that people can use to make their own buttons for answering questions and talk topics. If anyone wants it, I'll post it here. (Well, actually... it's rather easy to do... All I did was crop out one of the buttons from the ripped graphics, fill it with the button's background color, and then save it. Then I used it to make the four choices for the sample question...)
Thank you for reading. I hope you have a wonderful day.

Alright, fixed the closing error, now I have another problem.
When I start AIGE, the text goes into the top left hand corner in a pitch black screen with no textbox.
I assume I must update my graphics card, right?
I can't seem to find one that works for me.
Mine's what I said in my above post, I'll quote it if anyone needs to know.

I do, it's backed into a top corner and I can't see the characters or anything.
Here's my script, if anyone wants to check it.
Code:
#include(pwlib/pwlib.hlsl)

[game]
runscript("pw_initpwlib.hlsl");
runscript("pw_initbgs");
runscript('pw_createema");
changetitle("Turnabout Collector");

Was anyone able to find a command to unload a texture? (The reason being that I want to load my own nameboxes without editing the existing file)

EDIT: As a temporary fix until KSA gives an answer to this, if you need to replace any of PWLib's default textures with your own, just load them BEFORE running InitPWLib.

EDIT: Another question. Is it possible to change the colour of the text mid-message? So that part of the message appears in one colour and the rest in another? (The only command I can find to change the colour changes the whole box, not just the text written afterwards)

You had a typo on runscript("pw_initpwlib.hlsl");. It's runscript("pw_initpwlib"); no .hlsl needed. runscript('pw_createema"); becomes runscript("pw_createema"); you only use double quotation marks, not single. You forgot a quotation mark on runscript("pw_usepwbgcourthall");. runscript("pw_initpwbgs");, not pw_initbgs.

I see KSA.. strange that my card would have problems with this, it definitely supports non-pow2 textures. If I put "accelerated" in the config file the backgrounds look a bit better (maybe even fixed) but the character sprite becomes horribly blurred.

Anyway, I made a pack with the BGs from PWLib with the black bar, that seems to have solved the problem. If anyone else has the same problem I had (non-pow2 textures were rescaling or stretching, only the backgrounds, not the character sprites) then download this and use these instead of the normal backgrounds in "/PW/BG/".

I saw the cross examination skeleton. The problem is, the text stays green, and the cross examination bottom screen thing stays there. I don't like that. XD I tried adding the bottom button thing, but that goes underneath and the whole thing locks up.

I just tried the code, but for some reason it doesn't work. For few frames she appears as a white rectangle, then almost immediately changes into the finished pose.

code:
Code:
[pw_enablefranziskaha2]
placecharacter("pw_char",32,-2);
setcharactersize("pw_char",192,160);
setanimationrepeations("Franziska_Ha1",1);
resetanimation("Franziska_Ha1");
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Ha2");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Ha2_Talking");
wait(36);

I'm pretty sure the animations are right, since i copied them from the original entries that worked.

There are some things in the tutorial which I'm not sure of are correct, and I thought I'd point them out.

First, there is this, on page 44:
Code:
[presenttrucyprofilecorrect]
runscript("pw_showmessagebox");
runscript("pw_setnameboxtophoenix");
message("What about this?");
runscript("setlipsynctochar");
runscript("pw_setnameboxtoema");
runscript("pw_enableemanormal");
runscript("setlipsynctochar");
message("Hmmm, that is interesting...");
jumptoscript("scene1");

The 'setlipsynctochar' is used twice, and that seems pretty useless. Shouldn't it be used only once?

It is repeated on page 45 with the [presenttrucyprofilewrong] part.

Furthermore, on page 52:
Code:
[simpleexaminewrong]
runscript("pw_showmessagebox");
runscript("pw_setnameboxtophoenix");
runscript("pw_setnameboxtonoone");
message("This is what proves... er...");

Here, the namebox is first set to phoenix, and then to noone. Isn't this... quite useless?

Those were some things I spotted so far.

Yeah, I know. However, if noone ever points these things out, how will he ever be able to fix them?

Edit: I just realised the mistake. It's not supposed to be "setnameboxtonoone", but "setlipsynctonoone".

Edit 2: On page 58: "From not on, we won't provide..." should be "From now on"

Edit 3: Also, on page 66: "So fat you have seen the message and automessage ones" should obviously be "So far".

@Slezak

I forgot to mention it on the tutorials it seems.

setmsgboxtextspeed(speed) sets the speed.

@Klavice

Witch video card do you have?

@Lee

You can't unload textures now (I'll do a simple unload - that may cause issues if used wrong), but you can replace them using

replacetexture(id,"texpath");

Also there is no midtext coloring yet. In Accelerated it can be really simple to make, but Simple may be complicated.

@Maelstorm

I'll use Direct3D's GetDeviceCaps to get the Capabilities of the video card and see what is supported or not.

@Gerkuman

Hide the menu and show the arrow one in that case. Also use the setmsgboxtextcolor again to set back to white.

@Serio

It is really Ha1 on repeations and Ha2 on sync?

Code:
[pw_enablefranziskaha1]
placecharacter("pw_char",32,-2);
setcharactersize("pw_char",192,160);
setanimationrepeations("Franziska_Ha1",1);
resetanimation("Franziska_Ha1");
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Ha1");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Ha1");
wait(36);

and to use:

Code:
runscript("pw_enablefranziskaha1");
runscript("pw_enablefranziskaha2");

(you could force ha1 to call ha2 after the wait if you wanted)

@BSHaven

Do you have a GeForce 2 MX 4000? I tested in one and AIGE rendered everything correctly using Simple.

I believe it's 255/255/255/255.

The problem is at the very end. When ema starts talking at the very end (I will do the Cross examination), AIGE crashes during the 'Will'. It seems that there is something wrong with the 'ema surprised' animation, as I don't have this problem if I change it to "pw_enableemanormal".

Also, on page 76, it should be "I didn't throw it away" instead of "I didn't threw it away.

255 255 255 255. if the last is 0, you get a different color. The format is: Alpha, Red, Green, Blue.

I mentioned it. Tutorial Court 06 at page 87:
Code:
[crossT-2.0pressO]
setmsgboxtextcolor(255,255,255,255);
runscript("hidepwmenu");
runscript("pw_showadvarrowmenu");
runscript("pw_hidemessagebox");
runscript("pw_raiseholdit");

----

Running/jumping to an empty function sometimes = error. It seems I will have to apply the "add null()" fix.
I think the surprised has an issue with typo (ong instead of png on the ema's loader function). I need to fix this "animation with null texture = crash".

And now I know it's ARGB I should have no problems with the colours now. I knew one was alpha, but not which one.

Oh, and some interesting news. I'm planning on making a gif loader so it will be able to use the same "from gif" feature of other casemakers.

Ideas:
createanimationfromgif("AnimName","gifpath",init_tex_id);

It would automatically generate the textures and animation according to the gif's data.

At least I know that it's VC++ that's the issue because whenever I install it, it seems to be interrupted during installation.

As far as I searched, it seems incompatible video card.

I remember that "GeForce 4 MX 4000" has the same issue due to video memory been full (fixed due to new texture loading scheme).

As far as I noticed, ATI Mobility seems incompatible with AIGE at DirectX 9's level (no idea why yet!). I'll add to AIGE.exe the power to generate the list of capabilities of the video card (using DirectX 9's get caps). This may be able to allow me to understand why.

So, witch video card do you have?

Funny thing is, I'm getting all these same problems.
It seems your video card isn't supported, I believe anything below Mobility Radeon 7500 is unsupported by AIGE.
It seems that the closing error only happens with the _S.exe and the newer one seems to work somewhat except for the graphics issue Sphinx seems to be having.
KSA, could you by chance add support for my graphics card to a newer .exe and give it to me?
That might solve the issue.

Alright, i fixed Franziska's dual anims calls.

Code:
[pw_enablefranziskawhip]
runscript("setlipsynctonoone");
placecharacter("pw_char",1,-1);
setcharactersize("pw_char",256,160);
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Whipping");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Whipping");
wait(140);
runscript("setlipsynctochar");
jumptoscript("pw_enablefranziskawhip2");
add this before whip1 or replace it.

Code:
[pw_enablefranziskaha]
runscript("setlipsynctonoone");
placecharacter("pw_char",32,-2);
setcharactersize("pw_char",192,160);
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Ha1");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Ha1");
wait(36);
runscript("setlipsynctochar");
jumptoscript("pw_enablefranziskaha2");
Add this before ha1 or replace it.

This way the whole sequence uses only one call, respectively:
Code:
runscript("pw_enablefranziskawhip");
for whipping, and
Code:
runscript("pw_enablefranziskaha");
for the second pose.

I made it so that it also takes care of the lipsync part, so two lines less. Also added the 'sync to no one' line to bow and damage, so that also cuts down on one line as well by default, as well as added a wait during the bow, since far as i remember it waited a bit until she was done with the motion before continuing in the game.
Code:
[pw_enablefranziskadamage]
runscript("setlipsynctonoone");
placecharacter("pw_char",127,14);
setcharactersize("pw_char",112,144);
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Damage");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Damage");
[pw_enablefranziskabow]
runscript("setlipsynctonoone");
placecharacter("pw_char",0,16);
setcharactersize("pw_char",292,160);
setcharacterlipsyncsilent("pw_char","Franziska_Bow");
setcharacterlipsynctalking("pw_char","Franziska_Bow");
wait(112);

So it'll be easier to set up stuff now. :P

Serio, could you possibly throw up all the coded needed for the prosecutors file now? I'm a bit lost as to what to keep and what to replace so.. i'd like to just know what code to replace the whole Franziska section with :]

KSA, slight problem while running through the add evidence tutorial... pictures speak better than words.

Took me a minute to notice the wrong description. I'll look into it as I get home.

And about Serio's Franny: it'll be part of next PWLib's update, so wait a bit and you all will get Franny working under officially-released prosecutors file.

:franny:

Also people helping adding new characters is pretty nice. It makes PWLib more complete.

Update on GIF idea: I'm working on the gif loader. Expect a gif loader soon (no so soon since I need to fix aige's issues too). Now PWLib won't be anymore the "only cm to not load from gifs".

----
And about SADA (Smart Action-Driven Animation) and AHLAL: I started making ideas and basic documentations for it. More information possibly soon. More dynamic and programable animations = better quality to AIGE & PWLib.

1: (I only just caught it) It's BSRaven.

2: How do you get it to render in Simple Mode? :yuusaku:

1: What?
2: config.cfg - not sure which line you have to change.

I was going to convert to HTML (inc. all examples as d/lable files) - but that's currently on hold while I try to get my hands on the original docx :karma: - and while some of the minor bugs in the code are sorted. :keiko:

Let me just reiterate one of my earlier posts: USE DXDIAG'S SAVE ALL INFORMATION (edited to remove personal information of course) IF YOU HAVE RENDERING/DX PROBLEMS! It really can help.

2. Change the 3rd line to "Simple" (without the ") to use the Simple Text Render (same as AIGE_S behavior).

And some PWLib numbers: 212 downloads.

I pretend to enlarge the book, so when it's one I send you the docx.
