Turnabout Pocket Monsters

"Welcome to the world of Pokémon!"

"Allow me to introduce myself..."

"I am Professor Udgey."

"This world..."

"..Is inhabited by creatures called Pokémon."

"To some people, Pokémon are pets. Most use them for
battling, others use them for help in a variety of ways."

"As for myself..."

"...I study Pokémon as a profession."

"The world of Pokémon is vastly different, always
changing. Sometimes you must expect the unexpected..."

"I know three young boys and one girl who experienced
such events."

"But for now, their journey is only about to unfold!"

"A world of dreams and adventures awaits them!"

"Let's go!"

***********

Prologue - V.S. Oddish

"Pound away at it, Gengar!" A loud voice commanded. The purple, ghostly
Pokémon obeyed its trainer and was about to slap its enemy, a pink Nidorino,
when it dodged!

"Good job Nidorino, now use Horn Attack!" The trainer's opponent had a
voice that was peppy and clear. The rhino slash rabbit like Pokémon did
as he was told and leaped into the air, ready to strike down with his
piercing horn!

Two trainers and their Pokémon were battling just around the outskirts
of the quiet and tranquil Pallet Town, from afar sat a young boy from
his window, not taking his eyes off the heated battle.

The boy's attire was mainly red, including his open vest and backwards
baseball cap. It should also be noted that his red sleeves are rolled
up and two strands of 'antenna hair' poked out of his cap.

He also wore blue jeans and red sneakers.

"Pokémon battles are so rough, but they're still very exciting!"
Exclaimed the boy as he adjusted his antenna hair.

"Why aren't you studying for the exam?" A petty voice rang out, the
boy turned around and saw his younger sister at the door. She was donned
in a yellow cape and matching top hat.

"Ahhh! The Pokémon Trainer License Exam! I've completely forgotten,
it's next week.. I must study!!" He panicked and rushed to his desk
full of Pokémon stationary and pencils.

His younger sister placed her hands on her hips, "You could turn down
the volume on your Chords of Steel, Polly.."

"I'm sorry..." Apollo said as he began reading text books and writing
down notes. "I hadn't realized that I've been far behind.."

"That's for sure." Trucy sighed. "For years you've taken the exam to
earn your Pokémon Trainer License, and failed every time. I think you
should stop day dreaming."

"I know, I know... but it's just so fascinating! To think that
one day, maybe even next week, I'll finally receive my starter
Pokémon!"

"But you won't be battling others with it, you said so yourself
multiple times before." Trucy sighed. "Yet you act like you will."

Apollo jolted down a few more notes before replying, "Of course
I won't be battling. I'm a helper."

"You always do odd jobs for people, so will your starter Pokémon."
Trucy said doubtfully. Her idea of having a starter Pokémon was nothing
like that.

"They're not odd jobs, they're favors!" Apollo replied.

"Well, alright." Trucy said with a smile. "I'm going outside now, there's
friends to visit."

"Have fun." Apollo returned to his studies, secretly glad that Trucy
was leaving so that he could spend precious time in his book. To even
catch a Pokémon, a person would need a Pokémon Trainer License first.

Most people could start studying for their license when they hit ten years
old, Apollo on the other hand wasn't interested in becoming a Pokémon
Trainer until he was eighteen. Now he is twenty-two, shows how long he's
been trying to study and failing over these past years.

To receive a trainer's license - many studies, many exams and one big, final
exam must be taken and all of them passed. The final exam is usually the
hardest of them all. Studying doesn't just mean knowing what moves
a Pokémon can learn or learning how to catch one with a Pokéball,
a trainer must also learn how to be responsible enough and how to identify
numerous habits, problems and various other things involved Pokémon
training.

It takes about a year to study, which begins sometime during the
month of June and lasts until March. Apollo had failed the exams before
but was still determined to one day get his license. Nearly everyone
else he knew, besides his sister, already had one.

"I'm going to succeed this year, I just know it!" Apollo thought
to himself confidently.

***********

Pallet Town was a remarkable place, or so Trucy had always thought,
settled in the quiet countryside where there weren't that many trees
but plenty of rolling hills and grassy plains. If one would to stand
in the nearest route, Route 1, and glance at Pallet Town, it would look
like a town that was settled in the middle of nowhere. That's because
it was. There weren't that many houses nor citizens.

That's what Trucy liked about it, quiet and peaceful. Another thing
she liked about it was the few windmills that were just a little far
off from the town, she would occasionally visit one very few months.

But the one thing that she had set on her mind right now, was the largest building
in Pallet, its walls were made of cement rather than the housings
that were completely made from wood. This large building also had many
windows.

"Where are you off to, Fräulein?" A calm voice caught her attention.
It was Klavier Gavin, her next door neighbor.

Like Apollo, Klavier also wore an open vest - a blue vest. Underneath
was a Colombian blue shirt, and he wore blue jeans and a matching
pair of azure sneakers. Clearly his attire was all about the color blue.
Klavier also wore a chain necklace and belt.

"Oh, no where important." Trucy replied.

Klavier smiled, "Alright then."

Klavier is an admirable young man, and very popular among the town's
few residents. Apollo and Trucy had been friends with him for what seemed like forever,
Apollo met Klavier since childhood and had been friends since then.

As for Klavier and Trucy, they were only starting to get to know each other.

"How is Herr Forehead's studies going?" Klavier asked.

"Big brother Polly? He's finally getting back on track." Trucy
replied. "He's been watching people having Pokémon Battles again..."

"A bit of a slacker, huh? It's no wonder why he has failed the
past exams before." Klavier stated.

Klavier was also interested in Pokémon, probably moreso than Apollo was.
At least Klavier was more than willing to go out and have adventures,
battling and training his Pokémon after he had gotten his starter.

A Pokémon Professor lived in Pallet, and he issued starter Pokémon
to new trainers that just finished their final trainer exams. Klavier
had already finished his exams a year ago, but he was waiting for Herr
Forehead to pass his before receiving his starter.

'Best to give him a chance to catch up, maybe. Ha ha ha.' Klavier
would often say when asked why he hadn't gotten his starter yet.

"Tell him I said hi, I have some things to do now. Bye." Klavier waved
and left.

"Sure thing!" Replied the enthusiastic Trucy. Now that the coast was
clear, she went straight towards the front doors of the large, white
building.

She knocked on the front door and it opened to reveal a tall young
woman whose hair resembled a preztle. She was cloaked in a long laboratory
coat.

"Oh, hello Trucy. How are we today?" The woman asked her.

"Fine as always," Trucy smiled. "And how are you, Pearl?" A pink oval-shaped
Pokémon appeared next to Pearl's side, a rare Chansey. "And how are you
this fine day, Chansey?"

"Chaaansey!" Pearl's Chansey squeaked in greeting.

"We're both just fine," Pearl smiled. "Are you here to see my grandpa,
Professor Udgey?"

"Yes actually." Trucy said. Pearl and her Chansey lead the magician
girl inside, this was Professor Udgey's Pokémon Laboratory. There were
tables, machines and all sorts of Pokéballs that were kept on the tables.

***********

Sitting in a black chair in front of a grey desk, was the bearded Professor
Udgey. Lots of people in Pallet knew him, many said that the bald professor
was a complete genius in Pokémon research. For many, many years he has
studied in this field and continues to do so.

The Professor is also the local Pokémon Trainer Teacher for Pallet Town
residents who are taking the Pokémon Trainer License exams.

When Trucy and Pearl approached him, they noticed he was speaking on
the phone, Pearl's Chansey went the opposite direction to take care of a few
things. "The Professor is busy, please wait." Pearl said and went to help
Chansey with whatever she was doing.

Trucy waited for Professor Udgey to finish, but she couldn't help
listening to his conversation.'

"My nephew, how is it going?" Udgey spoke into the phone with a cheery
voice.

"Nothing much, but the nearest Pokémon Gym has been saved from closing...
again.
"

"That's been happening a lot lately, hasn't it. Anyhow I'm surprised
that you've called, did something happen?"

"I passed the exam."

Udgey rose to his feet, "Really now! You've passed the Pokémon Trainer
License exam! Well done, and on your first try too!"

"Ha ha, you have taught me a lot when I was living in Pallet.
Speaking of Pallet, I'm coming back in a week. You still have some
of those Starter Pokémon, right?
"

Trucy was surprised, "A rookie trainer will be coming to our town
and for a starter! This is interesting.
"

"A week sounds fine, that's when my pupil will be taking his trainer
exam......." Udgey froze when he saw Trucy.

"Uh huh, yeah. A week it is. I have to go now, bye." Udgey hung
up.

"Oops, did I do something wrong?" Thought Trucy, mother
always told her that it was rude to eavesdrop.

"Miss Trucy! I'm glad to see you, have you and your older brother
been studying lately?" Udgey greeted her, his voice cheery again.

"Of course!" Trucy smiled.

"Is your studies still a secret within Pallet?" Udgey asked her.

"Yes, not even my family knows yet, and it'll surprise everyone when I pass!" Replied
Trucy.

Trucy, at the age of sixteen, was also studying for the
Pokémon Trainer License exam. No one besides herself, Udgey and Pearl
knew about this, and what a surprise it would be if she does pass. She
also hoped that it would impress her big brother and Klavier too.

Udgey chuckled, "Good for you. And how about your brother?"

Trucy sighed, "My caught my brother slacking off again, but I got him back
to work."

"Not again..." Udgey frowned. "It's been years since Apollo began
studying, and he's failed my class every time...."

"It's almost like he needs a hands on experience just to learn..." Trucy
said.

That gave the professor an idea.

"Great thinking Miss Trucy!" Udgey placed a hand on her shoulder in praise.

"Huh? What?" Trucy asked.

"Go to your brother and tell him that I've summoned for him."

"But for what reason?" Trucy asked.

"You'll see," Udgey laughed. "It's my surprise."

"Okay!" Trucy said and ran outside.

Pearl and her Chansey approached Udgey as they watched her leave, "What
do you have in plan, Professor?"

***********

"Ow ow! Stop pulling at my wrist!" Apollo complained as he was pulled by
his younger sister to Professor Udgey's laboratory.

"I told you before," Trucy puffed her cheeks in annoyance. "Professor
Udgey summoned you!"

"But must you tug so hard?!" Apollo said. But before she could reply,
both siblings had soon arrived where Udgey and Pearl were eagerly awaiting
for them.

"Hello Mr. Apollo," Udgey greeted him. "How are your studies going?"

"They're alright, thank you." Apollo replied, rubbing his now sore wrist.
"But what did you called me for, Professor?"

Professor Udgey nodded and approached one of his many tables that
were aliened with red Pokéballs. All of them had label stickers, some were names others were just symbols. Udgey picked up
one of them and carried it to Apollo, he placed it in his free
hand.

Apollo eyed the ball suspiciously. "A Pokéball? It has a fist symbol
sticker on it, does this ball contain a fighting type Pokémon?"

Udgey's eyes sparkled. "Yes. I see that you've easily recognized the
symbol's meaning, so you have been studying after all."

"Anyhow," Udgey cleared his throat. "I have decided that it is time
for an exam, but this time we'll be doing it differently."

"Huh, differently?" Asked Apollo.

"Instead of writing an essay about Pokémon Battles, you will be
actually battling for the Battle Exam." Udgey announced.

"Wha-what?! Seriously?"

'Yes. Perhaps this learning experience will be easy for you. You've
been studying for years now, you may as well finally get the taste
of what a battle is really like." Udgey said with a wink.

"A-alright, I'll do my best!!" Apollo said in a loud voice. Trucy
cheered for him. "Great! You can do it, Polly!"

"You may release the Pokémon from its Pokéball now." Udgey said. He
stepped to the side, from there he could get a full view of the
laboratory - or in this case, the temporarily battle arena.

Apollo took one more glance at the Pokéball that shined back at him.
It felt smooth like glass around his hands. It was also small enough
to fit in his palm, until his thumb pushed the grey button,
instantly the ball grew and could now fit in his entire hand.

A Pokéball could grow and shrink for easy storage and carrying. When
it was small, it had a tiny hook that was just perfect for attaching
it to a belt or something similar.

Now that it was large enough to fit his whole hand, "Go Pokéball!!" Apollo
shouted and threw the ball! It handed on the hard ground with a click
and instantly opened up, releasing a red light which formed the shape
of a Pokémon. The Pokémon began to take complete form and the
red light no longer surrounded it.

"MaaaaCHOP!" It cried. It was a grey Pokémon that looked humanish,
and it had ridges on its head.

"A Machop?" Apollo asked. Professor Udgey nodded approvingly. "This
is one of my laboratory Pokémon." Said Udgey.

Udgey's assistant, Pearl, stepped forward. "Now it's my turn. My grandfather
asked me to face against you."

"Against your Chansey? Ha ha ha ha ha ha!" Apollo laughed. "Your
Chansey is a normal type Pokémon. Normal type are weak to fighting
type."

Udgey jolted down a few notes down, recording Apollo's apparent
studying progress. "It seems that he's familiar with the weaknesses
of certain types of Pokémon...
"

Pearl rummaged through an inside pocket of her lab out and took
out a Pokéball, it was pink instead of red. "Oh, I'm not dumb enough
to send my Chansey out."

"What? You mean you have more Pokémon?" Apollo nervously starred
at her Pokéball, what could be inside? Was it a psychic type or a flying
type? Both types had an advantage against the fighting type.

"I didn't told you before? I'm sorry." Pearl smiled. She pressed the
grey button on her Pokéball and threw it into the air. "Go Oddish!"

The red light of her Pokéball revealed a small, purple Pokémon.
It had no arms and long leaves on its head. "Ish! Ish! Oddish!" It
squeaked.

"A plant type Pokémon? For a moment there, I thought you were
going to send a psychic or a flying type..." Apollo sighed in relief.

"Chansey and Oddish are my only two Pokémon." Replied Pearl.

"Before we begin," Udgey said. He scanned the room for a moment and noticed
that Trucy was standing from afar, ready to watch the upcoming battle.
"I'd like to talk to Apollo for a bit."

Apollo approached him. "Apollo, what can you tell me about the Machop
you've borrowed?"

He took a quick glance at the muscular Pokémon, it was occasionally
checking out its leg muscles. "It looks vain..." Apollo said doubtfully.

"Well it kinda is.... but from a glance, can you guess what moves or attacks
it knows?"

"No...." Apollo said sadly.

"That's okay." Udgey lightly smiled. "Notice how much attention
its giving it to its legs, what does that tell you?"

"Its legs are strong?"

"Yes, and what can you do with your legs?"

"It knows a kicking attack?" Apollo guessed.

"That's right!" Udgey said proudly. "It also doesn't know a lot of other moves.
If it did, it may pay attention to the rest of its body."

"You mean it only knows one move?!" Gasped Apollo.

"In a way," Udgey replied. "But that doesn't mean it only knows
a single move. What I can tell you is that my Machop knows Low Kick."

"Low Kick? I've heard of that before." Apollo said.

"Good, now return to the Machop's side. We're about to begin!"

Apollo nodded and did as he was told, the Machop shot a friendly look
at Apollo and smiled. "It seems friendly to me. Maybe it was trained
to be nice and understanding to all new people it meets...
"

"Go Apollo! Go Machop! Go!" Trucy cheered and waved her arms. It would
have been perfect if she had brought pompoms.

***********

"I hope you are prepared..." Pearl said. "My Oddish is at a high level."

"And you didn't let it evolve into a Gloom?" Apollo doubtfully said.

"Enough! I prefer Oddishes, they're much cuter and smell better!" Pearl snapped.
"Let's get this battle started, let's go Oddish!"

Pearl's Oddish dashed towards Machop, prepared to strike. "OoooddISH!"

"Not so fast! Machop use your Low kick attack!" Apollo commanded.

"Chop! Machop!" Obeyed Machop. It too dashed towards its foe and Apollo
noticed how fast it was going, probably its strong leg muscles had enhanced
its speed.

Before Oddish could react to Machop's speed, Machop had powerfully kicked
Oddish. Because Oddish was so short and small, Machop's foot when right into
its face! But something was amiss.

Oddish didn't fell back from the sudden impact. It was hurt, but it wasn't
wincing in pain despite how powerfully Machop kicked.

"Wha-what happened? That looked like a pretty strong kick!" Apollo said.
"How come it wasn't very effective?"

Udgey jolted down a few more notes. "You know a lot about Pokémon type weaknesses,
but not so much in type resistances."

"Resistances?" Apollo asked.

Udgey nodded. "You know that fire type moves isn't very effective
against water type Pokémon. Well in this case, fighting type moves
are not very effective against grass type Pokémon."

"Wha-whaaat?! But you told me that Low Kick was Machop's only move!"

"Just keep on battling, Mr. Apollo. You're learning little bit by little
bit." Udgey replied.

"A.. alright, Machop try another Low Kick!" Another order was barked
out by Apollo's loud voice.

By now Oddish had moved a few steps away from Machop, but it ran after
it and delivered another blow to its face. Again Low Kick wasn't very
effective.

"Machop...." Sighed Machop.

"Now it's our turn!" Pearl said. There was a twinkle in her eyes.
"Oddish! It's time to dance!"

"Odddish!" It replied. It hopped back a few feet away from Machop again.
But this time it stood on one foot and began to spin around in a circle.
As it spun faster and faster, pink petals started to magically appear
around Oddish. Its spinning was creating a wind that made the petals
spin all around it.

"What is this?" Apollo asked her.

"This is a move called Petal Dance! High leveled Oddishes can learn
it!" Pearl replied. "Now Oddish! Send the petals flying!"

Oddish spun faster, but this time its leafs on its head whipped around
the petals and sent hundreds of them flying straight towards Machop.
Machop couldn't run and was forced to hold himself and brace for
impact.

As the petals sliced by it, you could almost hear a whistling sound.

Apollo panicked, "Oh no! Machop!!"

"...Chop..." Winced Machop. It quickly inspected its body, to find that
it had been cut up in several spots. Petal Dance was a strong grass type
move.

Both Apollo and Machop glanced up and saw that Oddish was still
spinning madly. "Why is it still spinning?"

"Petal Dance is a move that still continues for awhile." Pearl said.
"Meaning it's still going to attack until it can stop!"

"What?! Machop, try another Low Kick!"

Machop did as it was told, despite how painful its cuts and bruises
were. It did another Low Kick, but more razor sharp petals got caught
on his foot!

"CHOP!!" It shouted. It hopped back and held its wounded foot.

"Oh no! What have I done?!" Apollo was paniking again.

"Poor Machop, but this battle is far from over. I think it's that
time again Oddish!"

"Odd!...." Pearl's Oddish replied. More petals were sent flying
at Machop, and more cuts were produced in the process.

"Machop!! Stop this battle, I can't stand watching it get hurt like this!"
Apollo cried and was about to run to Machop's side. But..

"Chop!" Machop had quickly turned to face Apollo, it rose its battered hand
and Apollo halted. "Maachop. Chop."

"What? You still want to fight?" Apollo asked it. No human could truly
decipher what Pokémon say, so people could only assume and use cues from
sign language.

Machop nodded and looked behind his shoulder, glaring at the Oddish.
"Ma, Machop."

"But you're hurt so badly... oh alright, if you insist." Apollo said.
He took a few steps back and was about to order another Low Kick,
when the Oddish started to spin slower and slower.

Eventually it stopped and Apollo noticed that its feet were wobbling
uncontrollably. It was dizzy, and Pearl looked like that she expected
this to happen.

Apollo quickly recognized what happened. "Is this a status condition?"

"Yes," Pearl said, glancing at her Oddish. "This is the Confused condition.
Pokémon spin so fast when they use Petal Dance, it makes them dizzy
and Confused."

"It may hurt itself when Confused! Quick Machop try another Low Kick!"

"Chop!" Machop replied and dashed, slowly due to wounds, towards its target.

Oddish was still wobbling around. "Oddish, Stun Spore!" Pearl commanded,
her Pokémon heard her but it took a good two seconds for it to release
the stunning spores. The spores went everywhere as it wobbled,
Apollo hoped that it would miss but as luck would have it, spores
landed on Machop's skin and it halted.

Machop was temporarily paralyzed.

"Ma......c-chop......" Machop muttered.

"P-paralyzed?!" Panicked Apollo.

"You really need to learn to stop panicking." Pearl rolled her eyes.
"Your Machop is paralyzed, it'll have difficulty moving now. Oddish
nows your chance, attack!"

"Odd..... odd..... ish..." Oddish was still wobbling. It lashed out its
leafs in a frenzy, only to accidentally hit itself.

"Oh no, it hurt itself in Confusion!" Pearl cried. "Are you alright, Oddish?!"

"...Odd..." It was in a daze.

However Apollo was still in a bad situation, Machop was very weak after being
hit two times by razor sharp petals, and now it was paralyzed. He knew
that oddish will eventually snap out of Confusion and would be able to
attack more easily. No Pokémon could be cured from paralysis during
battle, they would need an item or be taken to a Poké Center, a hospital
that specializes only in Pokémon.

"Apollo," A voice called out to him, it was Professor Udgey. For a
moment there, Apollo forgot that he was even in the room. "'Do you
remember that I told you before the battle started?"

"To observe the Machop?" Apollo asked.

"Yes, why don't you try that again? But not just Machop, try
looking at the rest of your surroundings too." Suggested Udgey, he
went back to writing down notes.

"R-right..." Apollo said. Oddish was still wobbling, but not as much
as before. Machop could still move a bit, but it was mostly paralyzed.
There were also small embers emitting from his mouth as it panted
from exhaustion.

"Wait... small embers?" Apollo thought. Could this human like
Pokémon possibly know a fire type move? No Machop could learn a fire
type move naturally and Apollo knew that well, but why were
there embers?

Maybe it does know something special.

Now was the time to act. "Machop! You're breathing embers, do you know
a fire type move? Try using it, go!"

Pearl and Oddish froze and watched as Machop's mouth gaped open wide,
it began to inhale the warm room temperature. If you were standing
right beside it, you could actually feel the heat disappearing into
its mouth.

The heat in its mouth swirled until it became hotter and hotter, you
could almost see the sparks flaring up inside.

"MaaaaaaaCHOOOOOOOOOOOP!!" A stream of fire blasted out of its mouth
and flew directly into Oddish, burning it to a crisp. The flames
also seem to briefly form the shape of the kanji 'Dai'.

"I recognize this, this must be Fire Blast!" Exclaimed Apollo. Professor
Udgey nodded approvingly.

The Fire Blast would have lasted longer, if Machop wasn't paralyzed.
By the time the flames and smoke cleared, everyone could see that
Oddish was black like ashes.

".......Issssssh....." It simply said and dropped to the ground, it had
fainted. Pokémon moves are usually never used to kill, so often a Pokémon
merely faints when one is KO'd.

"Oh no, Oddish!" Pearl cried and ran to its side. "Return..." Oddish
formed into a red light and returned into its pink Pokéball.

Apollo approached the exhausted Machop, both smiled at each other. "Well
done Machop, I'm sorry about all your cuts..."

"I'm sure Professor Udgey wil-" He was interrupted by Trucy when she
literally ran into him for a hug. But that wasn't all, she lifted
both arms of Apollo and Machop into the air.

"Oddish fainted, the winner of this battle are Apollo and Machop!" She
announced.

***********

About twenty minutes later, Oddish and Machop had returned fully healed.
The laboratory had a few machines that were designed for healing
the wounds and status conditions of Pokémon, Poké Centers also had plenty
of these too.

Oddish was no longer burned and black, and Machop was no longer paralyzed.
They both also wore bandages.

"Congratulations on your first victory, Apollo!" Professor Udgey
clapped. Trucy, Pearl and Machop joined him. Oddish could only
cheer vocally due to lack of arms.

Apollo's eyes glittered, "Thank you." he said simply.

"Professor, I have a question. How could Machop know Fire Blast?" He asked.

"I'm glad you asked, wait right there." Udgey left and returned
with a colored box. It had a hole for putting a Pokéball in and two
antennas attached to each side.

"This is a Technical Machine, it teaches a move to a Pokémon that
cannot learn naturally on its own." Udgey explained.

"I've heard of those... Machop learned Fire Blast from a 'T.M.'?"

"Precisely. Machop also knows two other moves taught by separate T.Ms.
It is my main Pokémon when I study about T.M.s' Udgey said, he placed
the T.M. on a nearby table.

"Many trainers use T.Ms. But they're not easy to find. Also a T.M.
can only teach a move to a single Pokémon before it completely shuts down." He added.

"Anyway, you've passed one of the exams, the Battle Exam." Professor Udgey said.

Apollo's eyes grew wide. "Really?"

"Yes. You've noticed that Machop knew a fire attack from a glance, and
got it to work for you. Despite your panicking, you tried to keep
your cool and Machop sensed this well. This is why it was so willing
to obey you, Pokémon like trainers who won't give in so easily,"

"Also your commands were simple and straightforward". Udgey finished.
"Well done Apollo, now there's just the final exam to study for. If
you pass it, you shall be given your Pokémon Trainer License!"

Apollo thanked everyone again.

"C'mon Polly, you still have to finish the rest of that chapter in
your text book!" Said Trucy as she grabbed him by the wrist again
and headed out the door.

"Ow, not again! Stop tugging!" Apollo complained.

The professor and his grandchild, Pearl, could only laugh.

Quick author notes time!

Turnabout Pocket Monsters was inspired by 'Pokémon Special', a graphic
novel that was created by Hidenori Kusaka. Pokemon Special's first
four volumes are based on the first generation of Pokémon games -
Red, Green, Blue and Yellow.

As such, Pokémon Special's two main characters, a couple of boys
named Red and Green (Blue in the English release), are based on the
main characters of the generation one games. (E.g. think Ash and
Gary from the Pokémon anime.)

Pokémon Special also introduced a female character named Blue (Green in the English release), whom
Klavier is based on and not Green/Gary. As a basic rundown...

Apollo is based on Red/Ash.
Klavier is based on Pokémon Special's Blue.
Professor Udgey is based on Professor Oak.
Pearl is based on Daisy Oak, who is the granddaughter of Professor Oak.

Finally allow me to say that it is possible for Machop to learn Fire Blast
through a T.M. in the Pokémon games. The appearance of T.Ms. are always
different per series, I have based the appearance of T.Ms. as they were
viewed in the Pokémon Trading Card Game. That's it for now.

Comments and criticism are very much appreciated.

I love the idea of this, great work! And I must say I'm quite impressed at how you kept everyone "in character," so to speak. :keiko:

Thank you very much. I would have replied to this sooner, but I just don't like double posting.

Chapter 1 is now up, Chapter 1 - V.S. Rattata

The entire thing looks very well done! I like how this was all based on the Pokémon special manga, which, IMO, is a much grittier alternative to the anime.

Spoiler: Pokémon Special spoilers
So, when's Apollo going to turn into a petrified statue in display at the Battle Frontier? XP

Yay a reply! :D Thank you very much.

Well although this is based on Special, it's not completely based. There may be some familiar themes. But that's it. Notice that Klavier is based on Blue, and yes there will be someone based ion Yellow. Guess who. :P

Chapter 2 is now up, V.S. Beedrill. The preview title for the next chapter is Chapter 3: V.S. Nidoran Male.

Again criticism and comments are always welcomed. I'm always looking for new ways to improve and to make my stories more enjoyable to read.

Today I give you Chapter 3 - V.S. Nidoran Male, so enjoy.

I can tell you that this fanfiction is going to probably be very long. And when I mean long, I mean long. That's why the chapters themselves are kinda long, if they were shorter it would only mean more chapters.

This is a joy to read. A few typos here and there, but otherwise very well written. *Trying to sound smart*

The reason that I have typo problems is that I review it myself and use Firefox to find spelling errors. I would use Word because it supposedly has a spelling and grammar check function, but I don't think my Wordpad has it. Thank you for the comment though.

New chapter, Chapter 4 - V.S. Pikachu
