The other thing that I love about her is that she has so much potential for change. She has so many roads available in her life that it's hard not to let the imagination get carried away. Would she stay in Kurain or would she drift away to another field like her sister? Maya is such an enigma that it can be amusing to come up with different possibilities and explanations for her behavior, and perhaps the direction she will take in life. This was the one advantage of AJ: many people wanted to know what happened to Maya and Pearl, but I was fine with them not sharing; until they come out with a canon account of what happened to her in the past seven years, I am left to my dreams.
(That came out way longer than I intended. D:)
And yeah, the world needs LESS EDGEWORTH. I can forgive Phoenix because he's the person who started everything in the first place. But everywhere I go it's EDGEWORTH EDGEWORTH EDGEWORTH. Gah, I mean I love the guy too but sometimes I want to stick a knife in my head from all the Edgeworth there is.

No, no. The series wouldn't be less interesting. There would be no series at all. I mean, it is because of Edgey Phoenix became a defense attorney, after all.
And if you think about it, the game would be called "Miles Edgeworth: Ace Attorney", if DL-6 didn't happen. o_O;
And... Not every single fanart/fanfic/etc. is about him. Where are you looking? I've seen a lot of fan-art that doesn't have Edgey in it at all. Care to look through my Ace Attorney albums on my computer for evidence? xD;
(I don't know about the fanfics. I don't ever read them. >_>)
But yes, Edgey is still popular. He just has a huge fandom and the fan-girlies love drawing and writing about him. That's also another reason why he's all over the place. :D

Okay, I concede that yes, there would be no series without Edgeworth. And although I don't look at fanart a lot, from what I've seen people are obsessed with him. Fanfic wise, he gets more than his fair share.

Maybe a bit stupidly but I'm a huge fan of the Persona games and my favourite character in that series is Maya Amano from Persona 2. So when I discovered that there was a cheerful Maya character in the PW games I was imiditetly drawn to her.
I didn't really start loving her until 2-4 though, her determination and ability to stay positive even in a situation like that really made it just click for me. And the games just wouldn't have been the same without her silly interactions with Phoenix.

I mean sure it would be less interesting, not to mention no series at all cause of Phoenix's REASON for becoming an attorney... But still. Mia is Phoenix's mentor, I don't see a lot of HER around.
There are a lot of fans of minor characters around, believe you me...but all of that is drowned out by the Edgeworth stuff, if not the P/E stuff.

It's a bit of a toss-up for second, but I think Ema's my second favorite. She was absolutely adorable (and funny) in Phoenix Wright, and I also like her personality in Apollo Justice. Even though she's changed, you can still see the same lovable Ema on the inside.
