He goes to fancy Italian restaurants, and only orders the best.

Sometimes, for a change of pace, he takes his date to Taco Bell and they act like stereotypical high school students, just to confuse anyone who might be watching.

Kristoph was amazing. He was so calm, sophisticated, and completely batshit. And he painted his nails.

Also what was with his hand omgwtf that creeped me the hell out the first time I saw it o_o Is that ever explained in any way or does he just have some creepy demon-scar hand for no determinable reason?

Anyway. Cool guy. A complete psycho, but awesome. I'm still curious about his giant black psyche-locks from hell, too.

I was wondering about the scar, too. I guess it's just that when he flexes his fingers, it pulls on the skin, and it stretches because of the scar...I guess. An explanation of where he got it would be awesome.

I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him again, really. A lot of what he did was left unexplained, and there must be an explanation behind the scar other than "lol he got it stuck in the car door". Any wound that inadvertedly mutates your hand muscles into a skull has to be a plot point XD

Also, has anyone noticed that the instrument in his prison cell was probably a viola, not a violin? >< This has been bothering me. It looks too big to be a violin.

Well you know. The're was one thing that really wasn't answered in AJ. The real reason he had it in for Zak. I just finished AJ and i find the reason being "Zak dropped him in favor of Phoenix" kind of weak. Especially considering the black psyche locks.

Unless it was for revenge. Kind of like :chinami: (DAMMIT the're too similar!)

I was wondering about that too. If it was a motive similar to Dahlia's, his psyche-locks probably wouldn't have been black, unless he's just better at concealing his inner thoughts. However, the whole "it was because Zak dropped him baaaaaaaaw" motive does not jive well AT ALL. It seemed...anti-climactic? And why add the black locks anyways? Kristoph himself could easily have admitted "I did it because I was a douche, ha" but all he did was freak out over being found out in Drew's murder. Also, the vague comments dropped by Klavier about his brother kind of seemed to hint that Kristoph's problems ran...deeper than just being kind of a weird jerk. In fact the Gavins in general seem to have something of a dark aura around them.

And it might have something to do with Kristoph's scar. Nobody has a scar like that that ISN'T a plot point >_>

I propose that someone should write a fanfic concerning the origins of Kristoph's scar.

On another note, I thought I'd share this image I found. I'm not sure if its been shown before, but Kriss' expressions... I can't stop giggling.

I'm already wondering about such a fanfic xD There was just no indication given about how he got it, though Klavier did seem to hint that Kristoph was very mentally unstable. Maybe he got it in some horrific childhood event? XP Like usual...

Self-infliction, an accident of some sort, being assaulted at childhood... the possibilities are endless!

...Maybe even something anti-climactic, like he was baking cookies and somehow got his hand cut open. Somehow. ...Poor Kristoph.

He probably slipped and cut it and it got infected with nail polish :P

Her dA account is here. Clicky.

But yeah, endless, endless possibilities. Maybe the Gavins had abusive parents or something, and one night their c-c-crazy drunken father tried to hurt them and Kristoph stepped in the way and got wounded and/or killed his father (though it was written off in self-defense), and he then had to raise Klavier on his own. Of course the whole "you killed your father thing" drove him kind of nuts and the wound on his hand is always a grim reminder, and since then he's been kind of imbalanced. When you consider the brothers, Kristoph IS the mature, responsible one (homicidal tendancies aside) and Klavier is a rebel. So it sort of makes sense.

...I have no idea where I pulled that backstory from.

But I think we'll see Kristoph again in GS5. Possibly incarcerated at a mental institution, rather than on death row, like everyone's insisted.

That does sound possible, though I have a feeling that the drunk aspect would be subtly implied, if at all, since Ace Attourney has never really had any serious alcoholism references.
You know, now that I think of it, that devil face (aside from the scar-mouth) looks a lot like a severe burn...

You and I both know Phoenix wasn't drinking grape juice :P

It could be a burn. He might have been carrying eighteen babies from a burning orphanage, when a ninja attacked...you know I'm going to stop this train of thought right now.

edit: actually after looking at it again I don't think it's a burn. The indentations of the eyes/nose are just his muscles, but the mouth looks like a long, thin gash, and the teeth are the scars left behind by the stitches.

*slips into thread* I'd like to give my opinion of Kristoph's backstory... Warning, may be canon-defying.

Kristoph's family was driving him to tour a potential college, and Klavier was staying with a friend. They were coming home late, and Kristoph fell asleep in the back seat. He woke up in the hospital an orphan with bandages all up and down one arm and no memory of the accident. The rescue workers had to drag him out through a window, and his parents were dead before they could get them out.

Both brothers underwent a lot of therapy, but Kristoph felt as though nobody could ever understand him. After all, he had to raise his nine year old brother while juggling local college courses and a job. Kristoph was losing hope in humanity, but he thought at least Klavier could understand.

It turned out, not only did Klavier breeze through school and start a successful band... but he surpassed Kristoph on the opposite side of justice. Something in Kristoph snapped. He bagan to work for himself only, turning his back on the world.

Seven years later, Klavier and Apollo - both probably trained by Kristoph - shattered the very ground that he stood on. The law he studied and lived on was torn apart by a man Kristoph once called his friend. In fact, his own brother told him he was no longer needed... Kristoph fell apart and went mad in his solitary cell... Vongole was taken in by Klavier... Ariadoney went bankrupt from bad press...

He did say something like that.

:garyuu: "I killed a man named Smith because I am an evil human being."

I think his motive was about getting ditched. They were vague on this point. It might have been more than "I'm sorry, Mr. Gavin, but you're not exactly what I'm looking for." It could have been "Get out of my sight, I wouldn't hire you if you were the last attorney on earth". I mean, Zak is a JERK. Then Kristoph saw him hire a man whom he thought was beneath him, a "second rate attorney who relies on luck and bluffs" :phoenix: . He burned for revenge against these two. He got the lawyer fired and he didn't get an opportunity to kill Zak until seven years later, as he had disappeared. As for his motive for killing the Mishams, I think he's just a paranoid psycho. He was afraid Vera might testify as to the identity of her client to someone, and she might have already told her father.
