Pearl in both is a child born out of wedlock, to a woman who is hated and discriminated against around her own home village. While Hester is NOT evil, like Morgan IS, she is blacklisted and considered nothing less the devil for having an affair while her husband is presumed dead. That unfairnss surrounding her matches how Morgan, before she tried to kill anybody, was discriminated against simply because she was born without the ability to channel spirits. As a result, both Pearls were kept away from society and, while they were raised in their home towns, had no real connections to the people around them (the exception being Pearl and Maya, a plot device so that the character could actually be USED.) Their personalities are simmilar too. They are both described as having over the top emotions for the most part, those being shy, angry and sad -- unlesss you have read the book and played both games it's hard to describe. As an example, just as Pearl slaps Phoenix unconsious, Other-Pearl throws rocks at anyone who insults her mom...at age three. Both are also at the climaxes of their stories around age nine (I'm pretty sure it's nine), when the world finally finds out the truth to all their families' secrets. I could go on, but I think that's enough to show a connection, if not an overly direct one.
