@noian

The quick save and load is activated by a button. If I recall, F6 to save and F7 to load.

@Lt. Morke
All good ones are electable to be part of PWLib. I think I'll add both, since both are good.

Meanwhile that is true, I think with the back button being the one it is, you can fit another question in there? Correct me if I'm wrong?

And with a bit of clever positioning, is it possible to get 5 with the shrunk back button?

If it is maybe we could get a poll to decide if we want a shrink back button for an additional investigation chat option? or maybe there could be some compatibility script made so we can switch between the two?

@YggdrasilsSword

I can add the correct gfx easily. Thanks for noticing.

------------
The normal game supports 4, and PWLib max is 4 (since it fixes on the gam's basics first), but we cna have 5 if we place the replies correctly. I can look into it tomorrow

And the BIG news:

- (AIGE) Fixed problem with Redundant Font Textures eating up memory. This lowered memory usage of PWLib core by 25%.
- (AIGE) Implemented Plane 0 Unicode Support to all render-able texts, based on the UTF-8 format. Large sets (like CJK) are not supported at the moment, but might on the release of PWLib 1.2.

Seems you are doing a heck load to try and improve your program by reducing memoryhogging, always a good thing to hear! from the sounds of all the work you have done now, it might be possible to get AIGE to run on an even older machine than I tested on!
Remember our current tested "bottom" specs are;
DDRKhat wrote:
864mhz processor
256mb ram
Direct 3D supporting graphics card
(KSA, might be worth making a note of that on your website, post it as "System Requirements" so people interested in using AIGE can see if their machine runs it and be surprised that even their weak machine works)

Could be interesting if we could get this working on a weaker machine however!
500mhz, 64mb ram, Direct3D | If you could hit THAT low in system requirement, then anyone with a windows operating system can run it. (Although I doubt you can manage on just 64mb ram. So if not don't worry, just go for 128 , nobody these days has an excuse to have less than 1gb of ram anyway considering you can buy 1 stick of 512mb DDR2 ram for £8 !)

In fact, I was wrong about the memory usage reduction. It wasn't 25%, but ~60% (on non-Unicode Accelerated).

Most sets from Unicode's Plane 0 are supported (large ones aren't, such as CJK, yet).

I need to revise the code, but I think I defined all base ones (Unicode calls the Plane 0 the Basic Plane).
It's the sets that play under the 0 - ~65k range.

The big ones might get special work to be added (since if CJK has ~20.000 symbols, and supposing a max of 256 per texture, we get 4 textures per 1000 symbols, and 20 * 4 = 80 textures total. Not good memory wise AND speed wise. and that is per FONT.

Other examples of languages supported are Kannada, Greek, Armenian, Balinese, Bengali, Cherokee, Coptic, Ethiopic, Georgian and so on.

Thai is supported.

All you will need to do is define on the config.cfg for AIGE to enable unicode and define the sets you want to use.

Example:

unicode.use=true
unicode.set1=BasicLatin
unicode.set2=Latin1Supplement
unicode.set3=Katakana
unicode.set4=Hiragana
unicode.set5=Cyrillic
unicode.set6=Arabic
unicode.set7=Kannada

Basic Latin is the classic, ABC set for English.
Latin1Supplement adds accents for languages such as Portuguese
Katakana and Hiragana are Japanese
Cyrillic is the set for Russian and sister languages
Arabic is for Arab
Kannada is a set for Kannada

The order is irrelevant, as the system finds the right glyph given the charset it is part of is available (and the fonts supports it).

I'm thinking on adding another thing to the unicode condfiguration: the power to define the Language and AIGE automatically adds the needed sets. The problem is that I need to find a table with with sets each language use.
Some I know, but some I don't.

Cyrillic is used by more then Russian for example.
And Portguese needs more then one set.

It's an idea, I might do it or not.

That's a brilliant idea KSA. I wonder if there is a way to determine the range from a ttf file? Then the user doesn't even have to define the range. But if no automatic way is found, you could use this site: http://www.orwell.ru/test/Unicode/

I looked on unicode.org, but all of the charts were in .pdf :/ It would be a pain to open them up individually.

Defining the range form a ttf file is not good imo because if you get a big ttf (with many sets present) you load useless data.

See Arial Unicode MT. If the sets were autogened by the system, you would get all those sets created:
Basic Latin, Latin-1 Supplement, Latin Extended-A, Latin Extended-B, IPA Extensions, Spacing Modifier Letters, Combining Diacritical Marks, Greek and Coptic, Reserved for Unicode SubRanges, Cyrillic, Cyrillic Supplementary, Armenian, Hebrew, Reserved for Unicode SubRanges, Arabic, Reserved for Unicode SubRanges, Devanagari, Bengali, Gurmukhi, Gujarati, Oriya, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Thai, Lao, Georgian, Reserved for Unicode SubRanges, Hangul Jamo

We would end with lots of ram used up.

I might add a small table of the most used sets on my site. It sounds good.

Yeah, good point. That would use scary amounts of memory. I was only thinking of fonts that cover a small range of pages, when really, most people are going to use something like arial uni.

Sorry, to sound anxious and to say something completely off-topic to the actual topic being discussed, but:

KSA_Tech, how many features do you plan to include before releasing 1.2?

Because, you know, I think, just think, 1.2 will re-motivate me back into making "Ralldan Mynder: Ace Attorney". And I really want to make it.

So, release 1.2 or I'll dig up a grave for you.

Thank you :D

Seriously now, is there an "estimate" release period for PWLib Mio 1.2? Like "two months from now", "mid year", "June 14th" or something.

My current idea todo list:

- Add MIC support to the proper locations on pwlib
- Add Full INI management system to AHLSL
- Finish Shinku
- Finish AHLSL's File Service

There are more idea,s but they would delay PWLib 1.2 even more.

And I don't have an estimate, but I'll try to get it done as fast as possible.

Also it depends on the Mio character that DDRKhat's sister is working on. I want to release 1.2 with a decent demonstration code. (And it is a base for the tutorial book I need to do)

- (PWLib) Mia Investigation BG added to PWLib 1.2 GFX.

---------------------------
More news might follow soon.
I'm setting a new todo list priority model to try to stick to it.

1) The File Service will contain file manipulation data (read, write, etc) allowing AIGE developers to create custom file formats.
2) The full ini support will allow the creation of custom configuration, as well any ini-related feature that the developer might need. On PWLib it will be used to save the volume between executions. Also the ability to store and read float variables (0.6, 247.6262, etc).
3) Shinku is Shinku, no additional words needed.
4) Mic support might or might not be added unless people really want it. Not that it is hard to (since AIGE already supports MIC commands), but it will ony delay if people don't want it yet.

For me personally, I don't want mic support that badly. I do have a mic on my PC but, just like on the DS, I would hardly use it to shout "Hold it!" :P It could be added later on, but I don't feel like it's a top priority function for PWLib and it indeed will be a delay for other stuff you want to make for PWLib.

- (AIGE) Added the Ini Service. Ini support is full, allowing to read ini files with "sections", saving them and even creating them using only AHLSL. Inis can store fields with String, Integer, Float and Boolean values.
- (AIGE) Remodeled the config.cfg to make use of the new ini code (so it is easier to update things in it now)
- (AIGE) AHLSL now have an alternative way to define functions. The classic [func] is valid, but now you can define functions as function [name]. It will allow coloring to easily get function points.

So:

- Add Full INI management system to AHLSL Completed.

- (AIGE) Fixed issue with effects related to their times (now an effect that is ordered to exist on 40 frames will exist on 40 frames, not 41).
- (AIGE) Added new version of a benchmarking script allowing to know the"score" of a pc at running AHLSL. Useful to see how efficient AHLSL runs on a given pc (and maybe later on define the minimal score to run PWLib). The results will be conveniently saved on an ini file.
- (AIGE) Remodeled some AHLSL VM Lane Execution code. (this is the very first step into making new cool things in AHLSL such as the ability for animations to run commands on their frames).

Something like:

That's what amazes me about KSA_Tech, his speed. Today he says "I'll develop INI support" and tomorrow he says "INI support added". It's incredibly amazing. That, and the work doesn't even seem rushed (which I believe isn't, of course).

I say, release 1.2 once Shinku is finished. MIC support isn't really necessary, it's just a waste of time and code.

You mean 1.2, right? Although, with a time machine, this would be possible. Boy that would be cool, although there would be more applications for it in the stock market than here.

Yes, I agree. KSA_Tech is evidently quite dedicated to his work. And while mic support is superfluous, I wouldn't say it's a waste, only unnecessary at this particular moment.

What exactly is "Shinku"? I tried seraching, but all I got were "Rozen maiden" references.

Shinku is a Language Set being developed to compress the actual PWLib Language (AHLSL) into a much more simple language, like decreasing evidence creation commands from like 6 to 1.

The name is taken from a Doll from the "Rozen Maiden" anime. A lot of names were taken from here (Suigintou, the Ace Attorney Online Integration Language, Karakishou, the PyWright Integration Language, Shinku itself, etc.), showing how PWLib's developer, KSA_Tech, is a fan of this anime.

When I add a feature, I work until it is fully functional, specially for AHLSL's VM. I'm too much of a perfectionist to leave something broken nowadays.

And correcting DeMatador:

Shinku is a Set of AHLSL Functions that make using PWLib a lot easier. AHLSL is AHLSL, and it is fully independent of PWLib. More than that, PWLib is fully coded on pure AHLSL.

MIC support works over AIGE already, but I still need to include it on PWLib, but I will only add it some free time pops up during the development of the Mio Demonstration.

Currently I'm working on AIGE's AHLSL VM code in parallel with Shinku development.

Both do have same priority, so once an idea for Shinku pops up, it gets analyzed and implemented if it is good. This will allow me to do more in less time.

Even if Shinku was completed now, I would still have to wait to make the Mio Demonstration game. So PWLib 1.2 do have other dependencies in order to get released.

Um... a quick question about PWLib. How do I hide the Court Record tab?

Use the pw_hidecourtrecordbtn function. I don't recall if it is on PWLib 1.1, but if it isn't, I can post the code.

Ah yes, it works on 1.1. No need to post the code.
